Well, we already know all the cards at this point, so what do you think about the Warlock in standard? Because it looks pretty grim to me. Handlock is gone, Questlock is gone, OwLock is much weaker, Fel Warlock has been abandoned after single mini-set, Murlock is half-baked and doesn't have clear win condition or finisher, Curse Lock is not even a meme level (more like a bad joke), and they've also reintroduced the old, half-baked discard archetype that won't work without any further support.
I'm afraid that the standard Warlock will be unplayable at least until the next mini-expansion, or maybe even the next big expansion... What was Team 5 thinking?! Looks like they wanted to make sure that Warlock is bad and hopeless.
There aren't almost any Year of the Gryphon Warlock cards that synergize with the Mulock package they printed. Warlock didn't get cards this expansion.
Warlock can take a backseat, it had several decks last year that were broken. Let’s let some of the other decks that didn’t do so well last year have a turn. Paladin and hunter look pretty good and they… *checks HSReplay* are always strong…. oh well, better luck with the mini set.
How? All this deck can do is play slow vanilla minions and punch the opponent in the face, hoping that at some point he will die... somehow. In the past Warlock had at least Doomguard, Power Overwhelming and Soulfire, but not anymore.
questlock is using Reno/Zola and implementing a mild murloc package (4 mana dredge'5 mana draw 3, colossal, Mutanus) and top tier 2.
Questlock without Backfire and Raise Dead doesn't make any sense. It was slow even before the rotation, now it's not even a real deck. Handlock without Flesh Giant is obviously dead too.
the new idea is a face zoo with Naval Mine_Phylactery finisher

about murlocs, raw stats can be powerful (like wild handbuff pally) as long as you got good handbuff tools; the 2 mana spell is soo underrated, and 2 mana deathratlle is real good, and 3 mana neutral murloc. tools are almost there.
Phylactery got Pyro in coreset so 1/1 dudes are easily dying, and mild murloc package looks good, in midrange OTK/quest deck ; draws cards, AoE, mana cheat. warlock control tools are good enough without moarg plus you got reno.
mild murloc package is underrated and the best use is in questlock lock, like
turn 4 dredge
turn 5: draw 3 for zero mana take 5/ eat enemy board take 8 make a taunt
this effect is powerful.
the zoo deck is gonna use cards like Graveyard, 3 mana dude destroy your minion summon 1 mana more from your deck, Nerubian Egg, 2 mana watch post, and a bunch of sticky stuff...
Yeah all the new cards suck, but questlock could survive in some form. I theorycrafted a version based around multicaster for draw (shadow, fire, fel) and using that plus Brann/Zola etc for OTK.
I think the new murloc package could have been really strong if Warlock still had Backfire and Raise Dead, but without those... eeeehhh.... I don't know.
Warlock has had PLENTY of time in the spotlight. It's healing has FAR outweighed the hero power and "down-side" of the self-damaging cards for ages now. Ridiculous that they make Priest and Paladin healing look pathetic by comparison. Good riddance IMO.
I think the quest might still be playable. It'll be slower for sure, but so will many other decks. It's hard to say how fast a deck needs to be at this point in time.
Phylactery will almost certainly still be viable, it will be weaker but so will most other decks.
Zoo is looking pretty promising with Imp Gang Boss back. Murlocs are also looking quite scary with the Azsharan Scavenger and dredge.
They brought back Murloc Warleader. That's how Murlock wins. You flood the board with Murlocs, play Warleader and punch the opponent in the face. (The way any Murloc deck has ever worked...)
Curselock I think looks good. Warlock has a lot of ways to double up it's curse cards (Tamsin, Brann, Zola) and can get a curse to 8-9 damage pretty easily. Put it in some sort of control shell, and it'll be a really good attrition deck.
Fel spell & zoolock look pretty good to me too. I've made a Felimp build I really like and it'll probably still be okay after rotation.
You mean basically one expansion (United in Stormwind) as he lost most of his relevance during Fractured in Alterac Valley? Sure, a few months of fun every 3 years or so is enough for Warlock players. After all, he's not a Hunter, Paladin, Rogue, or Druid, which are good most of the time...
I think we'll have some mediocre warlock decks, but I agree that the really good stuff is dead and the new is meh. I think there is still basis for something slow and snowballing, where you just go for the slowest fatigue game and hope for enough slow decks to prey on.
Curses will deal 28 damage so... I guess you drop two abyssal enforcer or go quest-delete/no-deck and be happy with a 50% WR
LocLock seems a bit undercooked true! I think it's still gonna be fun and win with some surprise factor. Just take the bucket and throw all that juicy CHUM at them!!!!
My prediction: Two decks that will be bottom to mid tier 2, since they require significantly different mulligans from the opponent.

Naval Mine-Phylactery OTK is tier 1 deck in high legend next exp, murloc is mid to bottom tier 2,

Wouldn't be so sure, OwLock just lost School Spirits, Backfire, Tour Guide, and Mo'arg Artificer

mostly Taunt Discard Warlock, because (Core):
(1) Voidwalker (1/3) (Demon) - Taunt (NEW) (good addition against aggro deck)
(4) High Priestess Jeklik (3/5) - Taunt. Lifesteal: When you discard this, add 2 copies of it to your hand. (NEW)
(2) Darkshire Librarian (3/2) - Battlecry: Discard a random card. Deathrattle: Draw a card. (NEW)
(2) Tiny Knight of Evil (3/2) (Demon) - Whenever you discard a card, gain +1/+1
(4) Lakkari Felhound (3/8) (Demon) - Taunt, Battlecry: Discard your two lowest-Cost cards.
+ the remaining discard cards from previous sets to build upon.
standard Zoo looses tons of card and will be hard to maintain in std.
and maybe this Abyssal Curse deck.
edit: Fel Warlock looses almost 0 card and can still be valid (2 mana taunt replaced by 1 mana taunt (voidwalker)).
at least i will play it. looks fun :)
"Woow..."
What? Fel Warlock has never even been a real deck.
maybe some kind of Zoo Murloc or Zoo Discard decks, just my quick predictions...
well i havent the dust to finish it but it looks solid to me in theorycraft, more FelZoo if you d like, wanna be precise:
i agree that warlock loose tons of valuable cards though

OTK zoolock probably something like this

I've been climbing the ladder with it, but it's losing Man'ari mosher and that sucks.
