So guys which is it? After using hotform's list and getting nowhere even as I removed one acolyte for a flamestrike I'm getting frustrated and dropped from rank 1 to 4 last night. I know it's probably a tier-two deck but the deck is a lot of fun and I refuse to rank up with no fun. I see some decks with one flamestrike some with one or two cabalists tome and no acaolytes and some with rag; the servant of yogg ones seems to have vanished tho and I'm very confused. I just want to know which deck is the best and why it is based on some unique cards in it.
I do not think that there is a perfect one, its all down to the RNG. This is my current one that does fairly well for me - although I only get to around 10 or so due to family and work, so I cannot say how it works in the high ranks.
People don't reply because Tempo is a dumb deck to play right now, honestly. It's joined Shaman and Lock as a cancer deck.
Hotform's is probably the best. You need to realize it's often just a Face deck and trading is rarely worth it. Go face more, look for lethal and Yogg as an emergency. Your opponent is probably outpaced and will have to trade into you, so take the face damage and find lethal. You have 36 damage in burst spells alone not including spell power, missiles, hero power or flamewaker pings. Just find lethal, dude.

Well, someone just got rekt by Tempo Mage, LOL. Calling Tempo mage aggro, EleGiggle.

It is aggro? Watch a pro play it. Hotform's list is pure aggro. Add Cabalists and Tony and Faceless, Tempo. But the most common iteration are pure face.
And I run 70% win against it currently. It's not a great deck. It wins by finding burst lethal or getting bailed by Yogg. Otherwise it loses. I played it to get my rank 5 chest in 3 hours last month. Went 22-8. Then deleted it because smorc less.

Aggro deck with 2x Acolyte of Pain, 2x Arcane Intellect and Bloodmage Thalnos, seems legit. Tempo mage only smorcs when it gets a perfect opener with an unstoppable Wyrm/back to back Wakers protected by mirror image, which is not often, almost always it's only a good strategy vs zoo; besides that, any serious tempo mage list nowadways runs 2x Flamestrike (RDU's list for ex).

RDU runs 8 1 drops and 2 5 drops (card draw and spell power.) Pirate warrior generally has a higher average curve for goodness sake.
Just because you include board clear to combat other aggro doesn't change anything.
I mean, people can play smorc decks. It's cool. Mage isn't the most consistent at it but when it hits it's pretty neato. Otherwise it gets wiped. Oh well.
Ok I think you guys are deviating from the topic here and btw this deck is by no means a face deck I beat control hunters at fatigue i.e I survive till then with a good hand. Well I am currently using this list http://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/578481-s27-legend-tempo-mage it got me to rank 10 but suffering against hunters and shamans so any more ideas? the ones with 2 cabalist tomes and ethereal conjurers are too slow and do not get the job done.

You're playing wrong. It's a face deck. 20 out of 30 cards are 3 mana or less. And favored against Shamans and Hunters.. if you play it right. Which is really easy. Play everything you can. Kill minions with spells if they can get value trades and don't trade yourself. Otherwise go face. Seriously. Like, if it makes you feel better say it's tempo and play it like tempo and enjoy rank 10. It's a face deck.
Spellslinger is awful. Change to x2 Water Elementals.
You're probably just missing your fastest path to lethal and trying to play board control against other aggro, actual tempo and mid range decks. This is wrong. Find lethal. Every other popular and actual tempo deck out values you. You're a smorc, act like it or play a real deck.
Well after a little bit of thing I thought about that change too and made it and so far it helps against warriors who are so dominant in this meta. I still refuse to accept that this deck is a smorc one tempo mage has been in existence for quite a while and no one referred to it as a smorc one it just has yogg at the end now instead of anton or rag; sure you can burst quite quickly and dangerously but you can also decide not to do that, I tried that against shammy and zoo and I lose every time so I think it's best to control a little in those matchups don't you think?

I've played "Tempo" Mage to get my rank 5 chest for the last 5 seasons (I stop playing when win streaks end.. too grindy for me) and the current iteration is the most smorc it has ever been.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Qq1mHG3OSJ4 watch RDU play it (since some one brought up RDU to suggest it isn't a face deck) and note how he often ignores available trades or killing minions with fireballs to push face damage. Specifically againdt a slow deck he can kill Ragnaros and maintain boafd but instead sacrifices Tony to gain fireballs.
This type of play used to be hard punished by decks like Patron, Combo Druid and Secret Paladin but the current meta really lacks punish to greedy smorc play, hence all the cancer decks.
When I say find lethal it means figure out whether you need to waste a spell on a minion to live or ignoring a minion expedites your opponents death. With this deck using fireball or roaring torch on a minion is almost always a mistake. But yes, sometimes it is required. Even in smorc decks. Leaving a turn 4 flamewreathed alive isn't particularly good (although using mirror to stall while you go face is excellent.)
Ie.. why bother killing a Rogues auctioneer on turn 7 with a fireball when you have some board, 30 health, the rogue has 18 and you have a fireball and a 1 in 4 chance of drawing lethal? Fireball face instead is a 10x better move. A tempo deck would never make that call.. but the current mage face deck wins that way.
Draw is added to this deck to thin the pool and get you to lethal. Block is added in some to extend a turn of Face damage.
It's not a good deck.. but you can smorc some wins (36 damage from just hero targetable spells, plus missiles, plus pings, plus minions, plus waker) and Yogg can bullshit some wins from losses. Watch pros play it (Firebat, Amaz, etc..) and notice they all marvel at how bad it is except when they get tons of face damage drawn or a lucky Yogg.
Zoolock is the best board control deck and Face shaman is just a better smorc deck. You're unfavored in those matchups. Look for ways to stall the game as you go face. You won't win board control or a straight up race but if you throw some tacks on the track and don't look back you can win. Mirror Image is your friend. Arcane blast, too.
Make a video of r5-legend journey by smorcing playing tempo mage, and I will agree with this. 5 rank does not mean anything. All these: "pro plays it pure face" is BS. Do it yourself and and I will agree.

Show me a video of a pro playing it as Tempo and winning? I showed you a link of RDU who plays it as a smorc deck. As does Hotform.
Yes, sometimes you trade. All smorc decks sometimes trade. What makes it a smorc deck, which it 100% is and you can listen to pro streamers confirm it including Firebat, Amaz, RDU, is that you routinely bypass plus value plays to go face.
Rank 5 = Legend. Legend just takes more games. If you can get to rank 5 you can get legend.. it just takes grinding out games. Nothing miracously changes at legend. People still routinely misplay. You just face people with less to do in their lives.
I don't know why people are so sensitive. It's a cancer deck meta. Face mage is the weakest of the big smorc decks right now but Yogg lucks you into wins and it's probably the easiest to play (aside from something silly like Pirate Warrior.) Copy/Paste someone's cancer list and chill at rank 10 'cuz you think it's a tempo deck if you want to. Or copy/paste and go face to Legend if you want. I guarantee you will win 51%+ if you smorc more.
Tempo mage is in a bad spot right now, it thrives on midrange/control decks which the meta lacks. Playing against aggro means using burn on minions for board control and mage burn/removal has always been more heavily costed for their flexibility to go face. To win against aggro, tempo mage needs to play control until it successfully lands a midrange minion that sticks on the board and can finally push some damage, swing the game or start a race. Tempo yogg lets go of midrange options in favor of forgotten torches, acolyte of pain and yogg...
Anyway, if any of you are in the mood for some fun with Yogg in the wild format, here is my proudest creation :)
Ugh, I am experiencing the same thing. Goddamn crafted Yogg for the deck, and am getting absolutely nowhere in the ranks,
You and me both. Im trying the deck excatly as wrtten and its NOT good against most of the meta. The ONLY win condition is Yogg and thats 50/50 as it is. There arent enough minions , the deck sucks against aggro, and there are too many spells that just sit in your hand. There is no way anyone hit legend with this shit deck. LOL. Its fun to play, yes, but its tier 5 IMO.

Deck is a focking joke.
I swear to God, I don't know what there is- if anything- that I'm doing wrong. Tried up about a thousand variations up to absolutely no fucking avail. I'm actually thinking up of giving up on this and going back to my C'thun deck. At least it got me somewhere.

Yeah - I actually won a few games early on with it and was pretty happy but then I started just being outmatchd and couldnt make it work anymore. Overall, Im wondering if as others have mentioned that we need to simply go face more often just with spells? Even if there are minions on the board? Do you leave them and just hammer face? I dunno. I might try to play the deck a little more aggressively to see what happens. I feel like Flamestrike i a crucial card to run but this version of the deck does not call for it. I might take out an acolyte for flamestrike which wil help against Call of the Wild, Stupid zoo, and Shamans who always have string boards.
Well see. I want it to work because its a fun deck to play and Yogg is cool. Lets both keep trying and exchange info....
** Update - This deck SUCKS. Terrible. ZERO good matchups. Whoever the hel thought thi up wasnt playing the same ladder as we all are. Fucking joke. Im so pissed I crafted Yogg for this garbage. No onemade legend with this shit. Its LIES.

Best deck is to not use the stupid card at all.
I just watched yet another idiot Mage blow himself up. Thanks for the easy wins, guys.
