hello guys, i'm a casual Hearthstone Player from Switzerland. I surprisly reached Legend Rank 23 at Beta Season 2. I've decided now to share this Deck to give some Hunter Player a possibility to change their decks and to get some tips for improvement :)
I hope we could have a nice discussion here and maybe some improvements? Its not the usual Rush Decks you find these Days. Its has its elements from rush but it is much more stable with some control elements. Its biggest weakness is the missing Late Game Part, which you want to avoid. Palas oder Druids with Heal are his Archenemys. I hate swipe! Link to the Deck in the Deckbuilder Link to stream: www.twitch.tv/justtobi Finaly i did it!!! :D
ChangeLog 19.02/ - 1x Hogger + 1x Faceless Manipulator I really hoped that hogger would have a good defense impact. I was wrong. He never ever dropt more than 1 Taunter before he was killed....because this Deck has so many board removal / controller....i want to try Faceless. My intention is to copy some big minions with it, which i will kill afterwards with Hunters Mark. Also good combination with leeroy. Lets find out! 17.02/ - 1x King Mukla + 1x Stranglethorn Tiger - 1x Gladiator's Longbow + 1x Hogger I think King Mukla did a fine job, had some really good games with him....but just not everytime...so i replaced him with a tiger which could prove much more value! Lets find out. Gladiators Longbow....with this deck, which could have a veeeery good refresh streak with eaglehorn bow...its to risky to just have it as a dead draw....so i decided to go a little bit more tanky! 16.02/ - 1x Savannah Highmane +1x [card]Stranglethorn Tiger[/card] I did this change because the Lion seems to be a little bit too slow for this Deck and can be countered too easy. (silence / sheep / hex / assasinate). With Stranglethorn Tiger i have a safe drop with cant be killed this easy. 13.02/ -1x Timber Wolf +1x Misdirection - 1x Flare + 1x Tracking - 1x Baron Geddon + 1x Gladiator's Longbow I never realized that Timber Wolf was so often a Dead Card on my Hand ^^''. I had some veeeery nice Misdirection Situations so it feels to be the right coice :) Flare....i mean its really just vs. Hunters good...and with tracking i have a good digger which must be used carefully but can be a really game changer...or finisher. Finaly a repacement for Baron Geddon! I played him 2 Times today and he really had just a veeeeery low impact on the game....just no worth it :/ With the Longbow i have a good Mid Game Card, which can snipe down some dangerous minions or just do the Rest Damage to the enemy hero. 12.02/ - 1x Snake Trap + 1x Freezing Trap - 1x Houndmaster + 1x Captain Greenskin - 1x The Black Knight +1x Baron Geddon As mentioned...Snake Trap is just too easy to counter. I'm happy about the additional Freezing Trap. Houndmaster....i mean in a pure Beast Controll Deck, in which you play some strong 2/3 Drops it could be veeeery good, but in this Decks with only the animal companions he was just a death card on my hand...and i dont like death cards :/ I hope i dont regret it. Captain Greenskin was really cool! Good some very nice games which him, in which he really have me a bonus. If you calculate its +5 Damage for you do deal and a good 5/4 Minion onthe Field which can clear some yetis or senjin shieldmasters :) I have to admit...the Baron Geddon Change was a little bit a deperate choice. Everytime i tough "yeah now i've played him perfectly....the enemy hero showed me it wasnt perfectly at all ^^''. So i guess i will replace him...again. Any good suggestions? 11.02/ - 1x Arcane Shot + 1x The Black Knight i was just not happy about arcane shot...sometimes it was ok but sometimes it was just another 2 DMG which i didnt needed. Because my mana curve is to focues on 1-3, i want to give The Black Knight another try.
My toughs about the different Cards: 2x Hunter's Mark (0) i just love it! For me its even betten than Deadly Shot. In Combination with Stonerusk Board you can kill every Minion for just 1 Mana . In Combination with UtH you can simply shot a big taunter to the nexus, no questions asked. (i ignore Divine Shield at this point x)
1x Stonetusk Boar (1) As mentioned...with Hunters Mark my lovely Kamikaze Beast. Possible Card Draw with Buzzard and an another pusher for Kill Command.
2xTimber Wolf (1) The Secret Supporter in the Shadows. It doubles the Attack Value of UtH and this for just 1 Mana? Always good for card draw with buzzard or to push kill command.
2x Leper Gnome (1) I mean come on? What better feeling if you can start the game with this little mean green thing? Forcing Druids / Mages / Rogues to use their Hero Skill if they want to get rid of it. Worst Scenario is if het gets hit by a Earth Shock, but still its a 1 - 1 Trade and minus one earth shock for the shaman which he maybe needed later.
2x Flare (1) We dont like Secrets, we dont like Stealth....we want revalation! vs. all the Rush Hunters oder BabyBlock Mages perfect! vs. other classes...a simply deck compromiser.
1x Arcane Shot (1) I replaced Tracking with Arcane Shot, but i'm not really sure yet. Arcane Shot is very flexible. You can use it with Hunter Mark, without or just for the 2 Extra Damage vs. the enemy hero.
2xExplosive Trap (2) Perfect vs Rush Decks like Murloc or Rush Hunters. vs Murloc Decks i play it as fast as possible because if they buff the Murlocs in Round 3 with 3 Health...you gonna have a bad time! Also good with Hunters Mark. Last But not least...another durability for your beloved Bow ;)
1x Freezing Trap (2) I'm so in love with this baby! In the early round you can slow down the enemies early soo good! Best Feeling when you trap a "innervated" Yeti ;) I still use it only once...because if you trap a low drop or a drop with a strong battlecry effect....its not that good, so always use it with caution!
1x Snake Trap(2) Ah meeen....i love and hate this trap. Sometimes it fits perfectly with timber wolf, buzzard and additional Durability for the Bow. And sometimes the enemy just now how to deal with it and its just a death trap which slowly begins to rust. I think this will be one of the cards i will replace.
1x Ironbeak Owl (2) This littly thing was so worthy in so many situations. Silence some nasty Taunters if you want to hit with the final blow, or just silence some buffed minions. Favorite Use: Silence Nat Pagle x)
2x Starving Buzzard (2) Most hated Buzzard in the Game! One Part of the "back in the Game" - Combo which is the most valuable combo in the game in my opinion. Dont play it alone...even with the snake trap out there...now with 1 Life its to easy to "cast" it away. If you have 2 Buzzards on your Hand it could be worth the risk, because everyone is really scared about him...i mean...these eyes!
2x Unleash the Hounds (2) One of the most hated cards right now. Why? Because it forces the enemy to THINK! Our other Part for the "back in the Game" - Combo. It could be a board clearer, face smasher, card drawer or hyena feeder (if you play one). No card has so much diffrent synergies like this one. Always try to play it with buzzard but sometimes you need to play it without, if the game gets to bad for you.
2x Animal Companion (3) for 3 Mana a Beast which exeeds its cost? I'll take it! Huffer is my favorite because most of the time its 4 DMG to the face and the enemy HAS to do something about it. Misha is also good vs all the rush decks out there. I personaly dont like Leeok so much. Its pretty good if you drop him right before a big assault with your minions....but that happens not so much.
2x Eaglehorn Bow (3) Our beloved weapon! Sometimes you have to use it vs. minions to protect your own minions but most of the time you can do contastand damage to the enemy hero, if you have your popping traps out there. Fear the Slime!
2x Kill Command (3) soooo flexible! Most of the time you want to use it with a beast vs. enemy hero but always check the situation on the board! Its not a shame to use it vs. other minions to prevent getting overun. Best Feeling is when you finish of the enemy hero with it, while he finaly maintaned a stable board controll ;)
1x King Mukla (3) A very rare gorilla that we have here! Use with caution! I always try to use him while there are no other enemy minions on the board. Favorite use is in round 2 with the coin <3. NEVER EVER USE IT WHILE THERE IS A MANA WYRM, WILD PYROMANCER OR A GOBLINE AUCTIONEER OUT THERE. It would be like "here buddy, have some spell bananas to crush me" Best Situation: KIng Mukla and a Freezing Trap on my side. Enemy hero feeds his own creep to get rid uf Mukla and after a short blue flash, he finds the minion in his hand and King Mukla still drumming on his chest!
1x Houndmaster (4) The little Overseer in this Deck. Buffing your beast so you have a least a taunter. Good use in Round 4 to buff a Animal Companion, or in round 5 together with a Stonetusk Boar. One card to replace maybe.
1x Leeroy Jenkins (4)Most of time just to finish your enemy off. Works perfectly with UtH for extra 2 Minions, which can trade of the enemy whelpings or for direct damage. Sometimes i have to use it vs. big taunters....but this happens not soo much.
1x Explosive Shot (5) just a beautiful Remover! In Combination with Hunters Mark you can snipe down some additional big minions.
1x Savannah Highmane (6) The Pride Lion himselfe! Even if he dies, the two additional hyenas work perfectly with the rest of your deck. I always try to drop him at round 6 to force the enemy to deal with it. Just hope he dont have any silence ;)
Why i dont use Scavenging Hyena: I dont use this Card because i think its toooo easy to counter. I mean you only need a silence / Sheep / Assasinate / Siphon Soul and your minion is usless for its costs. I dont prefere to depend so much on a single minion.
Just wanted to say that I had been interested in trying a hunter and I came across this deck. I liked the look at feel of it much better than the rush deck I keep seeing around. I went from rank 20-12 in the last couple days. I don't play very much. I think it is a great deck. i didn't have snake trap so I threw in a snipe trap, which has actually worked pretty well. Anyhow, i am thinking of making the snake trap and trying that out unless you have another idea on what to use. I know you said it is a love/hate relationship lol. Anyhow, thanks for the share.

hey bellurdan, i would not use snipe, us another freezing trap instead! Snipe COULD be very cool....but it has to be perfec and with perfect i mean to kill a Minion with exacatly 4 life. If it hits big drop or a low drop it just not really useful. Freezing Trap on the other hand, could help you not to get overrun in early. I will maybe change it in may deck too...snake trap is just toooo obvious :/
@xelathur To Bad! :D Craft again? ;)
PS: I've changed Arcane Shot with Black Knight, but i'm not really sure about it. Does one have a another possibility? I'm curretly stuck at Rank 4, i guess the current meta knows very well how to handle Hunters :)
i strongly would recommend Baron Geddon. Together with UTH you sould be able to clear an entire enemy board at the end of your turn with the extra 2 DMG, I played Geddon bevore the UtH Buff, but i was not really happy about it. Maybe i will try him instead of The Black Knight. Nat Pagle could also be a good choice too, because this Decks dont really have any good Round 2 Drops (you should not drop buzzard or owl in round 2).
Another PS: i've decided to replace the Snake Trap with another Freezing Trap, its just more reliable then Snake Trap and this is what i need, if i need the Durability for my Bow + its slows the enemy REALLY down. (looking forward to a possible Frost Trap....."If a enemy attacks, Freeze the Minion and the Minions Next to it" but i think this would make the Hunter Rush Decks faaaaaar too strong ^^'')
EDIT: I took one Leper Gnome out and put Nat Pagle in - not quite sure if he fits..
EDIT2: I had a very nice win streak from 9 to 6, but now I'm stuck. Only facing Warlords (Aggro and Handlock) and Control Warriors. Especially the latter is really hard to beat.

thanks for the advice. will take out the snipe for another freezing trap and give that a go. ya not sure about arcane shot for black knight. i kinda like the hunters mark/arcane shot combo.

hey senti_rk! No card is really crucial ;), but i think Leper Gnom is one of the best 1 Drop in them Game to "start the battle for boardcontroll". If the enemay doesnt do anything about him, he has to suffer quite a bit of damage...including the 2 if he dies. Its a very good card for your early game, which you dont want to lose. It even can kill one of the 2 Drops with 3/2. I always have just a good feeling if i could start my Game with this Green Bastard on the field :) On [card]Stranglethorn Tiger[/card]: He is a really good budget alternative! If you want to play him i would take out one of the 2 Savannah Highmane. Best Scenario: Round 5 Stranglethorn Tiger and Round 6 Kill Command. 15 Damage....outch? ^^ But besides that....Deadly Shot is the only "for sure" card to kill it directly. Other removals like Flammestrikeor Consecration only can kill him in combination with other cards.

General Question: After how many games are you considering changing a "bad card"? Do do sometimes just listen to your instincts?
PS: I've created a stream to show my current Hunter Decks and to start some discussion about it. I'm going to discuss the current Hunter possibilitys with a buddy or with the viewers. Stay tuned! I will post the link here if a stream again :)
I thought about Stranglethorn Tiger, beacause I played a Hunter Control Deck before the test seasons startet (just Highmanes, Tigers and some other hard-to-remove minions, a lot of removal and a lot of traps with the bow) and it had quite some impact.
About the Leper Gnomes: You're probably right, they really fit the deck and give you a good mana curve (turn 1 Leper Gnome, turn 2 hero ability or coined King Mukla/Animal Companion). And: Nat Pagle didn't give me much. He slowed me down... Although I'm not sure if there aren't better options, we will see ;-)
Baron Geddon: I don't own him but I don't really feel that he fits the game plan. But I think it was a good decision to take out The Black Knight. He is too clunky and stayed on my hand a lot and I wanted to take him out. But then suddenly he won me a game against a Handlock :-) but I think it's a good decision to take him out. I will definitely put another Savannah Highmane in. They are just really really good, so one copy is not enough.
About the Houndmaster: He can be quite good. Especially buffing da Savannah Highmane. But you're right. Sometimes he's staying in the hand too...
Anyway, biggest problem I guess is card drawing. It's not that easy to get the Starving Buzzard/Unleash the Hounds combo running early. We need something for the eraly game. Any thought about that?
Matchups:
Second biggest issue: Let's think which are the worst matchups and how we can improve. I think Warrior Control is the hardest matchup. They have all these 3 and 4 health minions giving them cards, armor and attack and really enjoy the Explosive Trap.
To your general question: yes, I'm probably listening to my instincts a lot. I just don't have the time to play 100 games to get some valid data ;-)
Anyway, biggest problem I guess is card drawing. It's not that easy to get the Starving Buzzard/Unleash the Hounds combo running early. We need something for the eraly game. Any thought about that?
sometimes i have the same problem. For this occassions i try my luck and play buzzard with timber wolf / boar / animal companion / owl and hope i draw a UtH or maybe something other usefull. Another Optinion would be Cult Master In Combination with UtH you can draw as many cards as with Buzzard or even more. But it it a little bit more expensive. My tought always circle around Tracking. First i was really annoyed about it because it always felt that i lose two valuable cards, but i guess the problem was i played it too early. I guess the very best play for this card is when you REALLY need a special card and this is mostly in the end game. Even if you are in round 4 and have 1 mana left....i think is better to wait with Tracking. Maybe i will replace it for 1 Flare. This will lower my chances to win vs other Hunters but on the other hand it could increase the win rate vs every other class.
Hunter's Mark: This one is terribly underrated. Agreed, it does nothing on its own, but with the amount of AoE Hunter has at its disposal it often nets a 2:2 or 2:3 trade. Think of it as a scaling Backstab.
Flare: Two of them may be too much. It thins out your deck, but with 30 cards per deck you need every spot.
Tracking: One feels about ideal. Good to dig for solutions against aggressive builds and to filter for your finisher in late game.
Stonetusk Boar: I really like the one-of, feels like a third miniature UTH.
Timber Wolf: I'm not convinced. More often than not, this guy sits in my hand doing nothing. Devastating with UTH, but contributes nothing to the board if UTH decides to hide in the bottom third of your deck.
Freezing Trap: One feels okayish, bouncing Yetis and Ysera is fun, but often it does not solve your problem but delay it. Not that cool with Battlecrys and Chargers.
Misdirection: Makes the deck more beefy. Eaglehorn fodder. RNG screws you mostly in situations where you misplayed it or where you would have lost anyway, so i'm ok with that. Think of it as a Drain Life.
Stranglethorn Tiger: I'd always choose this over the Highmane. Highmane is a removal magnet, and even if it's not insta-sheep'd or hex'd and you get value out of it, you haven't pushed a single point of damage. The Tiger is almost guaranteed to stay at least for one turn, even survives Flamestrikes and SEEMS to avoid Misdirections. Remember, you don't need to attack with it. Best when played on an empty board. Think of it as a delayed charger.
This is more a reach deck, you should play semi-aggressively and trade or wipe when needed. Burn your opponent down to 10-15 health, then leap in for the kill with Leeroy, Tiger, KC, Bow and Flip. Calculate your potential damage output every turn to not miss a spot landing.
I'm also thinking about adding Stampeding Kodo, it could really help a lot with that annoying Warrior minions... Thoughts?
Amy, thanks for your thoughts (especially on the Stranglethorn Tigers, I'm still loving the Savannah Highmanes though, so I might use both of them which will make the deck much more control-heavy). I'm not quite happy with the Timber Wolfs either, I'm thinking about removing them or at least one of them for one Dire Wolf Alpha. He can do the same (if you sacrifice your Hounds) and is still a little bit more beefy with its 2 health.
But I disagree on the Misdirection. If you want to use them effectively you really need a Deck more or less without any minions. Then it is amazing!
On the 1-drops: one Flare and one Tracking seems to be perfect.
hmm damn, i never tough about this possibility....on the first tought this is very cool but.... there are different issues which appears.
1. If you take mulligan and draw Captain Greenskin....the Parrot would be veeeeery useless. 2. You HAVE to play him in Round 2 or you risk to draw him anyway 3. If you dont have the Bow....bouth cards are not so cool to play anymore and rot on your hand. 4. Acidic Swamp Ooze becomes even more dangerous ^^''
I'm also thinking about adding Stampeding Kodo, it could really help a lot with that annoying Warrior minions... Thoughts?
With most of them dropping between turns 1 and 3 and the Frothing Berserker probably growing out of range, the Kodo arrives much too late to the party. Basically all of them are a case for Hunter's Mark or Eaglehorn Bow. Snipe and Multi-Shot could do the trick if you're facing a lot of Warriors. But I think the main problem with Warriors are the weapons, where even with an Acidic Swamp Ooze they get 5 damage to your dome for 5 mana and you can't do s**t about it. Another pro for MD imo since you have no place for taunters...
Edit:
Has anyone considered playing CrustyHungry Crab against Mur-Locks and Hunter Bumrush (eats Bluegill Warrior)? I feel this deck has the hardest time with these ultra-fast aggro decks that finish by turn 5-7.
Thank your very much for all your thoughts and hints. I've been experimentating a lot and this seems to work best for me. It's a combination of Tobi's and Amy's version.
Thoughts on specific cards:
Stranglethorn Tiger really is the killer. He always survives the turn and can be used for almost everything the next turn: burn, taunter-clear and as a trigger for Kill Command.
And I'm starting to love Misdirection again. Yesterday I silenced an enemy's Ragnaros the Firelord. He must have thought I'm the worst noob ever until he hit himself in the face ;-)
Captain Greenskin is just amazing in this deck. He performs so well with your weapon. Not only giving you plus 5 damage in total but also making the never ending swings even more deadly. Although he's quite easy to remove for your enemy, you're winning time and keep him busy.
Specific setups:
Haven't faced many Murlocks, but Hungry Crab would probably be a good replacment for the Leper Gnomes in these matchups.
Still having problems with Warriors.. :-(
Mulligan strategy:
I would be really interested in your mulligan strategy. What do you always keep, what do you always replace?
i think the Hungry Crap is a "ok" replacement for the gnome. It is devasting vs a murloc deck....vs all others its just a Kill Command Pusher ^^'' How about Secretkeeper or Shieldbearer? Round 1 Secretkeeper and Round 2 a Trap is a very good starting (with Coin there could be 2x 2/3 Minions in Round 2). And it works with enemy secrets too! Shieldbearer could give you a little bit of time which could veeeeery important for this Deck
follwing cards depend on the other cards or enemy heroes: Freezing Trap (if i have a Leper Gnome on the hand or vs. Druids, OR with Coin and a Eaglehorn Bow) Explosive Trap Always vs Warlocks and Hunters...maybe vs Paladins too or if i have a Eaglehorn Bow) Hunters Mark if i have just a bad feeling vs Warlocks or Druids...i keep it Flare Always keep one vs. Hunters
I replace the Rest.
Are there any Hunters out there which would share their experience with us? :)
@Tobi: Thanks for your Mulligan insights. I think Secretkeeper is really worth a try! Not so sure about Shieldbearer, but one must try. Maybe this nearly unplayed minion gets a new job ;-)
Btw: How are you performing in ladder recently?
@cheopz: The deck doesnt't look strong on paper, thats definitely true. But try it, it's amazingly fun to play and quite strong at the same time! As I posted above, I don't own Baron Geddon, so I can't say anything about him, but Captain Greenskin is really amazing and isn't it nice to win with underplayed Legendaries? I don't think any of the "value"-Legendaries will make this deck better. As Amy said: it's a reach deck. You burn your opponent a little bit down and keep him busy and then you finish him. It's definitely not a rush deck, but games still often end early, so clunky Legendaries wouldn't help. But that's just my opinion, do you have differing results?
The legends you run seem viable, but do you feel they are consistent enough? Especially Geddon and Captain.
hey cheopz13, the only "must" Legendary in this Deck is Leeroy Jenkins i think. - King Mukla is reeeeally strong if you can play him in round 2 with coin and if there are no minions on the enemy board. It applies so much pressure on the enemy! Its also cool if your opponent pushes his minions with the bananes and running in a freezing trap with it....best Feeling Ever! On the Other hand....there are some Problems with certain Minions which get a huge boost with them. Wild Pyromancer, Mana Wyrm and Gadgetzan Auctioneer . - Captain Greenskin as i mentioned before....you will get extra 5 Damage (1 +4) to deal! This could help you to kill a enemy minion without losing the Bow or just to apply some face damage! AND you will have a 5/4 Minion on the Board with which the opponent has to deal. - Baron Geddon definitly the most "unsure" Legendary in the Deck. I didnt played him much these week and everytime i tought "now is the Time!"...it didnt really work well. I'll give him another day or two but maybe i will replace him with The Black Knight or another card...not sure yet.Quote from
Btw: How are you performing in ladder recently?
i didnt have much time to play the last days. I'm still stuck at 4. With the discussed changes i hope to reach Rank 1-2 this Weekend. I'll keep you updated.
Tobi, I'm glad, you're having success with King Mukla. To be honest, I have to say, he didn't give me much.. He always got removed instantly (even if I coined him out) and then the enemy used the bananas to get out of range of my Explosive Traps etc. That's why I'm running the version with just the two (most important) Legendaries. Although I WANT to give him a new try, as he is so cool...
hello guys,
i'm a casual Hearthstone Player from Switzerland.

Finaly i did it!!! :D
ChangeLog
19.02/ - 1x Hogger + 1x Faceless Manipulator
I really hoped that hogger would have a good defense impact.
17.02/ - 1x King Mukla + 1x Stranglethorn Tiger
- 1x Gladiator's Longbow + 1x Hogger
I think King Mukla did a fine job, had some really good games with him....but just not everytime...so i replaced him with a tiger which could prove much more value! Lets find out.
Gladiators Longbow....with this deck, which could have a veeeery good refresh streak with eaglehorn bow...its to risky to just have it as a dead draw....so i decided to go a little bit more tanky!
16.02/ - 1x Savannah Highmane +1x [card]Stranglethorn Tiger[/card]
I did this change because the Lion seems to be a little bit too slow for this Deck and can be countered too easy. (silence / sheep / hex / assasinate). With Stranglethorn Tiger i have a safe drop with cant be killed this easy.
13.02/ -1x Timber Wolf +1x Misdirection
- 1x Flare + 1x Tracking
- 1x Baron Geddon + 1x Gladiator's Longbow
I never realized that Timber Wolf was so often a Dead Card on my Hand ^^''. I had some veeeery nice Misdirection Situations so it feels to be the right coice :)
Flare....i mean its really just vs.
12.02/ - 1x Snake Trap + 1x Freezing Trap
- 1x Houndmaster + 1x Captain Greenskin
- 1x The Black Knight +1x Baron Geddon
As mentioned...Snake Trap is just too easy to counter.
If you calculate its +5 Damage for you do deal and a good 5/4 Minion onthe Field which can clear some yetis or senjin shieldmasters :)
I have to admit...the Baron Geddon Change was a little bit a deperate choice. Everytime i tough "yeah now i've played him perfectly....the enemy hero showed me it wasnt perfectly at all ^^''. So i guess i will replace him...again. Any good suggestions?
11.02/ - 1x Arcane Shot + 1x The Black Knight
i was just not happy about arcane shot...sometimes it was ok but sometimes it was just another 2 DMG which i didnt needed. Because my mana curve is to focues on 1-3, i want to give The Black Knight another try.
My toughs about the different Cards:
2x Hunter's Mark (0)
i just love it! For me its even betten than Deadly Shot. In Combination with Stonerusk Board you can kill every Minion for just 1 Mana . In Combination with UtH you can simply shot a big taunter to the nexus, no questions asked. (i ignore Divine Shield at this point x)
1x Stonetusk Boar (1)
As mentioned...with Hunters Mark my lovely Kamikaze Beast.
Possible Card Draw with Buzzard and an another pusher for Kill Command.
2x Timber Wolf (1)
The Secret Supporter in the Shadows. It doubles the Attack Value of UtH and this for just 1 Mana?
Always good for card draw with buzzard or to push kill command.
2x Leper Gnome (1)
I mean come on? What better feeling if you can start the game with this little mean green thing? Forcing Druids / Mages / Rogues to use their Hero Skill if they want to get rid of it. Worst Scenario is if het gets hit by a Earth Shock, but still its a 1 - 1 Trade and minus one earth shock for the shaman which he maybe needed later.
2x Flare (1)
We dont like Secrets, we dont like Stealth....we want revalation!
vs. all the Rush Hunters oder BabyBlock Mages perfect!
vs. other classes...a simply deck compromiser.
1x Arcane Shot (1)
I replaced Tracking with Arcane Shot, but i'm not really sure yet. Arcane Shot is very flexible. You can use it with Hunter Mark, without or just for the 2 Extra Damage vs. the enemy hero.
2x Explosive Trap (2)
Perfect vs Rush Decks like Murloc or Rush Hunters.
vs Murloc Decks i play it as fast as possible because if they buff the Murlocs in Round 3 with 3 Health...you gonna have a bad time!
Also good with Hunters Mark. Last But not least...another durability for your beloved Bow ;)
1x Freezing Trap (2)
I'm so in love with this baby! In the early round you can slow down the enemies early soo good! Best Feeling when you trap a "innervated" Yeti ;)
I still use it only once...because if you trap a low drop or a drop with a strong battlecry effect....its not that good, so always use it with caution!
1x Snake Trap (2)
Ah meeen....i love and hate this trap. Sometimes it fits perfectly with timber wolf, buzzard and additional Durability for the Bow. And sometimes the enemy just now how to deal with it and its just a death trap which slowly begins to rust. I think this will be one of the cards i will replace.
1x Ironbeak Owl (2)
This littly thing was so worthy in so many situations. Silence some nasty Taunters if you want to hit with the final blow, or just silence some buffed minions. Favorite Use: Silence Nat Pagle x)
2x Starving Buzzard (2)
Most hated Buzzard in the Game!
2x Unleash the Hounds (2)
One of the most hated cards right now.
2x Animal Companion (3)
for 3 Mana a Beast which exeeds its cost? I'll take it! Huffer is my favorite because most of the time its 4 DMG to the face and the enemy HAS to do something about it. Misha is also good vs all the rush decks out there.
I personaly dont like Leeok so much. Its pretty good if you drop him right before a big assault with your minions....but that happens not so much.
2x Eaglehorn Bow (3)
Our beloved weapon! Sometimes you have to use it vs. minions to protect your own minions but most of the time you can do contastand damage to the enemy hero, if you have your popping traps out there.
Fear the Slime!
2x Kill Command (3)
soooo flexible! Most of the time you want to use it with a beast vs. enemy hero but always check the situation on the board! Its not a shame to use it vs. other minions to prevent getting overun.
Best Feeling is when you finish of the enemy hero with it, while he finaly maintaned a stable board controll ;)
1x King Mukla (3)
A very rare gorilla that we have here! It would be like "here buddy, have some spell bananas to crush me" Best Situation:
KIng Mukla and a Freezing Trap on my side. Enemy hero feeds his own creep to get rid uf Mukla and after a short blue flash, he finds the minion in his hand and King Mukla still drumming on his chest!
1x Houndmaster (4)
The little Overseer in this Deck.
1x Explosive Shot (5)
just a beautiful Remover! In Combination with Hunters Mark you can snipe down some additional big minions.
1x Savannah Highmane (6)
The Pride Lion himselfe! Even if he dies, the two additional hyenas work perfectly with the rest of your deck. I always try to drop him at round 6 to force the enemy to deal with it. Just hope he dont have any silence ;)
Why i dont use Scavenging Hyena:
I dont use this Card because i think its toooo easy to counter. I mean you only need a silence / Sheep / Assasinate / Siphon Soul and your minion is usless for its costs. I dont prefere to depend so much on a single minion.
Always looking forward to some tips :)
Anyhow, thanks for the share.
hey bellurdan,
i would not use snipe, us another freezing trap instead!
@xelathur
To Bad! :D Craft again? ;)
PS: I've changed Arcane Shot with Black Knight, but i'm not really sure about it. Does one have a another possibility?
I'm curretly stuck at Rank 4, i guess the current meta knows very well how to handle Hunters :)
I really want to try this deck but I don't have King Mukka, is there another legendary I can replace him with?>
I have:
Baron Geddon, Ragnaros, Ysera, Sylvanas, Cairne Bloodhoof, Leeroy, Tinkmaster, Bloodmage Thanos, Nat Pagle, Alexstrasa, Deathwing.
hey Fawkes,
i strongly would recommend Baron Geddon.
Thanks for your advice. I love Baron Geddon even though a lot of people don't use him for that exact reason.
Thanks Tobi for the deck, I really like it.
I just replaced King Mukla with another Savannah Highmane (as I don't own him yet) and I'm using two Freezing Trap, like you do recently.
I'm just not liking the Leper Gnomes, any idea to replace them? Do you think, they are crucial?
I'm also thinking about adding Stranglethorn Tiger, any thoughts?
Cheers
EDIT: I took one Leper Gnome out and put Nat Pagle in - not quite sure if he fits..
EDIT2: I had a very nice win streak from 9 to 6, but now I'm stuck. Only facing Warlords (Aggro and Handlock) and Control Warriors. Especially the latter is really hard to beat.
- senti
thanks for the advice. will take out the snipe for another freezing trap and give that a go. ya not sure about arcane shot for black knight. i kinda like the hunters mark/arcane shot combo.
hey senti_rk!
I always have just a good feeling if i could start my Game with this Green Bastard on the field :)
On [card]Stranglethorn Tiger[/card]:
He is a really good budget alternative! If you want to play him i would take out one of the 2 Savannah Highmane. Best Scenario:
Round 5 Stranglethorn Tiger and Round 6 Kill Command. 15 Damage....outch? ^^
But besides that....Deadly Shot is the only "for sure" card to kill it directly. Other removals like Flammestrikeor Consecration only can kill him in combination with other cards.
ChangeLog
12.02/ - 1x Snake Trap + 1x Freezing Trap
- 1x Houndmaster + 1x Captain Greenskin
- 1x The Black Knight +1x Baron Geddon
As mentioned...Snake Trap is just too easy to counter.

General Question:
After how many games are you considering changing a "bad card"? Do do sometimes just listen to your instincts?
PS: I've created a stream to show my current Hunter Decks and to start some discussion about it. I'm going to discuss the current Hunter possibilitys with a buddy or with the viewers.
Stay tuned! I will post the link here if a stream again :)
greez Tobi
Hey Tobi,
thanks for your answer!
Card issues:
I thought about Stranglethorn Tiger, beacause I played a Hunter Control Deck before the test seasons startet (just Highmanes, Tigers and some other hard-to-remove minions, a lot of removal and a lot of traps with the bow) and it had quite some impact.
About the Leper Gnomes: You're probably right, they really fit the deck and give you a good mana curve (turn 1 Leper Gnome, turn 2 hero ability or coined King Mukla/Animal Companion). And: Nat Pagle didn't give me much. He slowed me down... Although I'm not sure if there aren't better options, we will see ;-)
Captain Greenskin: I will try him!
Cheers

sometimes i have the same problem.
Greetings everyone, this is my twist on Tobis original decklist:
Thoughts on specific cards:
Amy
Hunter only!
Tobi, what do you think about adding "another" Captain Greenskin through Captain's Parrot?
- senti
- senti
hmm damn, i never tough about this possibility....on the first tought this is very cool but....
there are different issues which appears.
1. If you take mulligan and draw Captain Greenskin....the Parrot would be veeeeery useless.
2. You HAVE to play him in Round 2 or you risk to draw him anyway
3. If you dont have the Bow....bouth cards are not so cool to play anymore and rot on your hand.
4. Acidic Swamp Ooze becomes even more dangerous ^^''
Edit:
Has anyone considered playing
CrustyHungry Crab against Mur-Locks and Hunter Bumrush (eats Bluegill Warrior)? I feel this deck has the hardest time with these ultra-fast aggro decks that finish by turn 5-7.Hunter only!
This is my latest version:
Especially: Do you keep Starving Buzzard, Unleash the Hounds, Leeroy Jenkins, and/or Kill Command? What about the traps?
Thank you very much!
- senti
- senti
hey senti,
i think the Hungry Crap is a "ok" replacement for the gnome.
Shieldbearer could give you a little bit of time which could veeeeery important for this Deck
following cards i keep everytime:
Unleash the Hounds
Starving Buzzard
Animal Companion
Eaglehorn Bow (only 1)
Leper Gnome
follwing cards depend on the other cards or enemy heroes:
Freezing Trap (if i have a Leper Gnome on the hand or vs. Druids, OR with Coin and a Eaglehorn Bow)
Explosive Trap Always vs Warlocks and Hunters...maybe vs Paladins too or if i have a Eaglehorn Bow)
Hunters Mark if i have just a bad feeling vs Warlocks or Druids...i keep it
Flare Always keep one vs.
- senti
hey cheopz13,
the only "must" Legendary in this Deck is Leeroy Jenkins i think.
- King Mukla
is reeeeally strong if you can play him in round 2 with coin and if there are no minions on the enemy board.
- Captain Greenskin
as i mentioned before....you will get extra 5 Damage (1 +4) to deal! This could help you to kill a enemy minion without losing the Bow or just to apply some face damage! AND you will have a 5/4 Minion on the Board with which the opponent has to deal.
- Baron Geddon
definitly the most "unsure" Legendary in the Deck. I didnt played him much these week and everytime i tought "now is the Time!"...it didnt really work well. I'll give him another day or two but maybe i will replace him with The Black Knight or another card...not sure yet.Quote from
i didnt have much time to play the last days.
Although I WANT to give him a new try, as he is so cool...
cheopz, just run the version without Captain Greenskin and run another Stranglethorn Tiger or Savannah Highmane instead, he's really not worth crafting outside this deck.
