I never realized that Timber Wolf was so often a Dead Card on my Hand ^^''. I had some veeeery nice Misdirection Situations so it feels to be the right coice :) Flare....i mean its really just vs. Hunters good...and with tracking i have a good digger which must be used carefully but can be a really game changer...or finisher. Finaly a repacement for Baron Geddon! I played him 2 Times today and he really had just a veeeeery low impact on the game....just no worth it :/ With the Longbow i have a good Mid Game Card, which can snipe down some dangerous minions or just do the Rest Damage to the enemy hero.
The Decks feels very stable....but i everytime i lose, it was mostly because of one Round. I hope i can get to Rank 3 again and then even futher. It just takes time...i had some pretty good winning streaks with the Deck....and short after a lose streak. It always a up and down ^^''
Only keep one of each, plan out your first 3 turns accordingly. Mulligan the rest. T1 Leper Gnome, T2 Coin + Animal Companion T3 Eaglehorn Bow or alternatively T1 Gnome T2 Flip / Trap T3 Animal Companion are your preferred plays. If you can combo UTH with Buzzard, draw 3+ cards and wipe his board, the game is practically over.
How is the Longbow performing? I had the strong feeling it is a bad Arcanite Reaper, you spend 7 mana in situations where a powered Kill Command would have done a better job. King Krush on the other hand often won me games (with style!) I would have lost otherwise, but as Leeroy is a pain to draw in your opening hand.

Hmm.. in my opinion Gladiator's Longbow doesn't perform well with the Eaglehorn Bows, as you want to keep their durability up due to the traps. But haven't tested it yet...
Tobi, are you still running King Mukla and Savannah Highmane instead of the Stranglethorn Tigers? Do they live long enough to do some impact? Looking forward for today evening's experience.
I'm wondering about the effectiveness of King Mukla. I had the fortune of getting him in a pack recently and wonder how well he plays out in your matches?

yep i'm still running King Mukla. I had some very cool plays with him so i dont want to replace him that early. I did the change with one Stranglethorn Tiger instead of Savannah Highmane. Even if i do like this Lion pretty much...he is just too slow for this Deck. I was able to reach Rank 3 again....later today i will stream a little bit :)
My goal to reach Rank 1, i have terrible missed. I could reach rank 3 again but then i felt to Rank 4...currently 0/5 Stars.
And the Problem is....i dont know why exactly. The funny thing is....is think i win 4/5 Games vs Handlocks. And i guess i can tell you why. This Deck is very strong in clearing the enemy board. With Freezing Trap / Hunters Mark / UtH / Explosive Trap you have so much vs enemy minions. The Problem is....if i cant do constant damage with eaglehorn bow, animal companion, Stranglethorn Tiger or captain greenskin....i will be overrun by the enemy, because i dont have board controll. So this Deck could be seen as a "Clearing Rush Deck" i think. Its not the "just to the face" Rush Deck....more like a "safe Rush". Maybe i was just unlucky with few games....or this decks needs some big changes to reach better ranks ^^''.
don't worry, I'm pretty sure it can be done with this version. If not, Hunter would be in a terrible position...
I checked your updating list and I'm running exactly the same atm, but instead of the Gladiator's Longbow I have another Stranglethorn Tiger. I really think a second one is necessary as they are so flexible and as I said, I don't think the Gladiator's Longbow performs well with the Eaglehorn Bows (just my feeling thoug). With this version I reached Rank 4 yesterday (down from 8) with actually quite a good win rate. My feeling about matchups:
Rogues: very good as traps hard counter Miracle Rogues.
Druids: quite good, but sometimes they just put to much pressure on you with early Chillwind Yetis. But whatI really like: games almost never last long enough for big Legendaries!
Rush Hunters: pretty bad :-(
Warlocks: quite good. Sometimes Aggro Warlocks can overwhelm you but I think th matchup just depends on card drawon both sites, so pretty even. Handlocks can almost always be overrun.
Priests: Can't say too much, but I think the traps counter their health-buffed minions pretty good. I think I haven't lost to them.
Paladins: haven't encountered many of them either, but quite good I think.
Shamans: most of the time quite good.
Mages: Havent't seen many of them but quite good then. Your aggro is faster and frozen giants are way too slow against you.
Warrios: pretty bad matchup. Explosive Traps really help their 4-health-give-me-a-card-or-armor-or-attack-minions.
What are your biggest matchup concerns? Maybe we should try to fix them. Currently I have to say, it'sworking quite well, but if the number of Warriors will incrase dramaticaly, I have to rethink.
Btw: As I reached 4 yesterday and wanted to rest on these laurels, I tried the Secretkeepers instead of the Leper Gnomes (as I always hated them) and I have to say it worked pretty well (in unreanked though). The theory behind them yould be: although the Leper Gnome is regularly doing at least 4 damage, the Secretkeeper puts a little more pressure on the board. The enemy kind of has to get rid of them but can't do it with the hero power. so they NEED to take a card, but it CAN'T be one of the cantrip ones (i.e. Mortal Coil or the 1-damage-Wrath-version, just Backstab still works, but Rogue is a good matchup). So I think this is pretty good trade-off and I think the damage loss is ok. If the enemy doesn't get rid of it instantly it will mostly become 2/3 the next turn and gives you a good board position versus Aggro Decks and is starting to do damage. I think latest then they did a much better job than the Leper Gnomes. Another good think about them is, that you can put them on the board if you go second and the enemy played an Argent Squire on T1 (especially Warrios). But as I said, just tested it a few games in unranked.
Your clarification as a "Clearing Rush Deck" pretty much describe sit well I think. But actually I really don't feel, that the deck isn't viable to survive turn 10. Often you can do some amazing card refreshing with Starving Buzzard and Unleash the Hounds and you can really keep your enemy busy a lot. I think the most important thing is to be the agressor with "control backup" (traps) in a game. If the enemy manages to turn roles, you tend to loose.
Senti, regarding matchups, I have observed that hunters in general are really good against paladins and shaman (the token classes). Their hero power is to put a small minion on the board for cheap, and that is the worst thing you can do against a hunter.
Armor classes (druid and warrior) tend to be the toughest imo. I had a warrior one game who had 15 armor with 30 health in round 3 or something. I was able to get some damage in but taking out 45 health is just too much.
Best part about playing a hunter is that it seems that warlocks can overrun pretty much everything in the game, but with traps + uth, hunters are really good against any warlock deck.

i guess i will take a secound Tiger too.....i mean the Longbow is really good...but if you have a good eaglehorn Run...its a dead card.
definitly Warriors! i had around 2-3 Games yesterday, where i tought "now i have him!"....but Charging Grommash showed me otherwise. vs Rush Decks like Murloc or Hunter-no-brainer its really all about the card draw. Even if i'm able to slow his Play down....there is always some leeroy or kill command hidden.
i like the idea of the secretkeepers, but i guess i will stick to the lepre gnomes. If you can play the secret keeper in round 1 and a trap in round 2...its reeeeally good (or Dual Secret Keeper with coin, and a trap in Round 2!).....but in every other situation i guess the gnome is more worth....but maybe i will try the secretkeepers anyway ^^''.
what do you think about the following change:
Removing King Mukla and add Ragnaros the Firelord or Hogger? With our "board clearing" strength....Hogger could really keep the enemy hero busy, which gives us Time to prepare the final blow. And Ragnaros.....yeah...its Ragnaros ^^''.
17.02/ - 1x King Mukla + 1x Stranglethorn Tiger - 1x Gladiator's Longbow + 1x Hogger I think King Mukla did a fine job, had some really good games with him....but just not everytime...so i replaced him with a tiger which could prove much more value! Lets find out. Gladiators Longbow....with this deck, which could have a veeeery good refresh streak with eaglehorn bow...its to risky to just have it as a dead draw....so i decided to go a little bit more tanky!

Pyromelter, I can really feel your pain in these words, I had some similar situations... Although I haven't met too many Warriors lately so I'm fine with it at the time being.

The changes seems very valid to me! I'm really curious how Hogger is performing. If he isn't (do we still have enough beasts?), I'm thinking of adding a second Misdirection (I'm running Secretkeepers now, see below, so the sixth trap seems valid), bringing back the second Timber Wolf or even adding one Savannah Highmane. Ragnaros the Firelord seems a little bit too much, but maybe he is the "little" thing, the deck needs. Currently I'm still running King Mukla. But this is absolutely the slot with the most testing still needed.
I didn't play much today but went a little bit further on rank 4. Btw: I'm running Secretkeepers now and I really like them. I will be back online tomorrow night for some further testing and hopefully rank 3 (am I too optimistic?).

Yesterday i had a winning streak from 0/5 Rank 4 to 4/5 Rank 3! Currently i'm at Rank 2 0/5. The Deck just feels right. Not rellay much Dead Draws and a ton uf Fun. Hogger had his Moments too. vs. Hunter Rush Coined him in Round 5.....few Rounds later the enemy Hero conceded. vs. others I Think he we always be a Minion with which the enemy HAS TO DEAL! And this "HE HAS TO DEAL WITH IT", is always a good thing, because it slows him down. I will keep him and try to find out, if i can reach legendary with this Version of the Deck.
PS: [card]Stranglethorn Tiger[/card] was definitly the right choice! This sneaky Tiger always has a valuable impact.
PS2: I cant belive that some Hunters still dont play Hunter's Mark. This pearl has proven himselfe to be one of the most valuable Cards in this Deck :D
I'm happy to hear that, I also think the list is quite "complete" now.
Currently I'm at Rank 3 3/5 with almost the same list (still prefering the Secretkeepers over the Leper Gnomes ;-) ).
Hogger ist still under review though. The games I brought him, he didn't survice the next turn and then I have to say his value isn't that big (6 mana for a 4/4 and a 2/2 with Taunt). Hadn't had such a good run with him yet ;-)
hmm that could work very well....i gives the Deck a little bit more flexibility and in Round 9 you could do 12 DMG to the face. or in Round 6: Copy a strong taunter and removing him with Kamikaze Boar (with Hunters Mark of Course).
Damn...looking forward to test it :D

Always keep: Leper Gnome, Eaglehorn Bow, Animal Companion
Against Aggro: Explosive Trap, Unleash the Hounds (Tracking to dig for Traps)
Against Control: Hunter's Mark, Misdirection
Hunter, Paladin, Mage: Flare

To keep you updated: I had a nice win streak from 8 to 5 recently. Still the same list:
The only "flex slot" I see atm is the second Timber Wolf. Options: King Mukla, Bestial Wrath or King Krush.

Has anyone of you read Wuaschsemme's newest "State of the meta" (http://wow.gamona.de/2014/02/14/hearthstone-top-decks-state-of-the-game-folge-2/)?
Have you ever thought about it, why you don't really care at all about Chillwind Yetis and other 5-hp-minions? Just check the list: Kill Command, Stranglethorn Tiger, Explosive Shot, Hunter's Mark + Stonetusk Boar, traps, ...
As any (German[-speaking]) player will now add Chillwind Yetis (if they haven't already), Hunter is in a really good position!
- senti
I'm really looking forward to master this deck! :)
Freezing Trap for a Chillwind Yeti which has been innvervated to the field.....thats a way to start a game! :D
Guys!!! i'm really happy now with this Deck :D
Yesterday i had a winning streak from 0/5 Rank 4 to 4/5 Rank 3!
Currently i'm at Rank 2 0/5.

I'm currently thinking about a Faceless Manipulator in his spot (don't have one though, so someone else has to test him). Faceless Manipulator could be another Stranglethorn Tiger or another Leeroy Jenkins or an enemy Legendary. Another choice could be an Argent Commander. But for the time beeing, Hogger will get some more testing.
- senti
hmm that could work very well....i gives the Deck a little bit more flexibility and in Round 9 you could do 12 DMG to the face.
or in Round 6:
Copy a strong taunter and removing him with Kamikaze Boar (with Hunters Mark of Course).
Damn...looking forward to test it :D
