KnC is LIVE! - Deck updates and additional notes:
-1 Kabal Courier +1 Earthen Ring Farseer
So far the meta contains lots of tempo decks, (Who would have guessed?) and the Kabal Courier was a little to ambitious.
The darkness is really only useful vs. Razakus Priest, and a dead card most other times. Depending on what your facing consider replacing The Darkness with that new 4/4 heal 4 card. (Forgetting name)
Currently iv'e played the deck up to rank 6 with a solid 86% winrate! Ill be sure to update the deck with matchups once the meta calms a bit. In the meantime I hope you enjoy Krul'Dangerous!
"I greet you" Acolytes - The prophesied hour of KnC is almost upon us, and as a self proclaimed master of the Dark Arts, (And sometimes the bright vibrant Fel green arts.) I have made it my duty to share the diabolical deck of destruction I plan to demolish my dastardly opposition with on the first day of KnC: Enter...... Krul'Dangerous!
Krul'Dangerous!
Get it? it's a reference to Gul'Dangerous? But with Krul the Unshackled instead! No? Nobody gets me. All jokes aside, this is a deck archetype iv'e been toying with since the beginning of KoFT - The general idea is you play Krul the Unshackled, and one of the following happens:
- The opponent cant deal with the board and promptly dies.
- The opponent can deal with the board, BUT THEN YOU BRING OUT BIG DADDY GUL'DANGEROUS AND BRING YOUR BOARD RIGHT ON BACK FROM RETIREMENT CAUSING.... YOUR OPPONENT TO PROMPTLY DIE!
Its... actually pretty ok, I've taken my homebrew up to rank 2, and provably could've hit legend. I didn't hit legend. Why? I got bored. The main weakness of the deck is that... well... you tend to die turn 4. BUT NOT THIS EXPANSION because theres a few new toys to play with: Amethyst Spellstone and Vulgar Homunculus to name a few - these bad boyz will hopefully stop you from dying turn 4 and allow you to actually play your deck. Can I get a "Pretttyyyy Goooood"?
IMPORTANT CLARIFICATION! This plays slightly differently from other Control Warlocks you may have dabbled in - These new fangled decks that emerged in KoFT often limited the cards they would draw playing a even slower pace, and almost exclusively playing reactive. This deck plays a lot the Reno decks of not-so-old: Draw without fear as if you can get the cards you need, you can generate an absurd amount of value and board presence.
Odd inclusions from KnC Chances are you've already looked at the Decklist. and chances are you probably saw Rin, the First Disciple, The Darknessand Skull of the Man'ari and thought: "This guy is an idiot!" My rebuttal is: These cards are mostly to experiment with, and above all other reasons, for fun! My FAVOURITE time to play Hearthstone is the first few days of the expansion, Rin and friends are probably not the greatest inclusions, but for the first few days of the meta, you can get away with running a few Janky cards here and there, and get a +80 fun value as a result of doing so!
Im poor/I want the best possible deck ever - replacements? Instead of Rin, the First Disciple, chuck in a Bonemare! Other replacements for other "Odd Cards" include The Lich King Twilight Drake, or Mountain Giant. Even Earthen Ring Farseer is an ok inclusion. Some other cards worth looking at: Possessed Lackey, Blastcrystal Potion, Bane of Doom, Corrupting Mist, Chittering Tunneler, Dirty Rat, Stonehill Defender and Tar Lurker.
Won't the Demon Resurrect pool be polluted by Bad Demons? (Rin Spawns, Excess Voidwalkers?) Hmmmm.... Fair point. The deck counteracts this in four ways.
- So many good demons have died that getting ALL the bad ones back would be unlikely.
- Partial controlled summoning, ie: Rin spawns AFTER resurrection.
- The "Bad" Demons are actually the best vs Agro. THIS IS HUGE!
- It... does not matter as much as you may think.
The Darkness This legendary is awesome! I can't resist talking about this: The Darkness is only included as a anti Razakus tool, requiring some sort of hard removal to be dealt with while slowing down Raza the Chained. When it works it will be so epic! Anduin will be all: "Total darkness will be revenge!" and Ill chuckle... and say "Anduin, Anduin, Anduin.... I CONTROL The Darkness!" and then proceed to kill Anduin with the literal darkness. Also the darkness is pretty good vs this deck.
The Future Highlander warlock was.... passable in KoFT. KnC however, answers the decks biggest weaknesses (most notably staying alive) as well as bringing some new tools to experiment with. I'm optimistic. Not for this specific deck, but the Highlander Warlock Archetype as a whole. I'm just hoping to destroy one deck with Azari before the meta settles...
Thats all folks. Ill update/make a new one of these once the deck is properly refined if anyones interested. This is archetype is one of my favourites in ALL of Hearthstones history. Enjoy. Or don't. Or quit your job and pledge allegiance to our great lord C'thulu for all I care.
I actually did that twice now! I won those games.
You may be on to something with the J-Rax idea. Idk about what to cut, and the consistency but it may very well be worth trying - I always tried to get Lord Jaraxxus off of Voidcaller vs. agro back in the day for the purpose of Argus or Sunfury.
As much as I've been working on a deck almost exactly like this myself, I think that a lot of people are going to run The Darkness based on the current hype it has gotten (because priest has been such a problem). We can only wait and see I guess. But assuming this card is going to make a big impact, Warlock actually might be forced to get away from the highlander archetype, because Kazakus [/card] would be a bad drop on 4 if your opponent plays The Darkness first and [card]Krul would be a decent drop when pulled from Skull of the Man'ari., but is obviously much stronger when you can pull all your big demons from hand. It kills me because I've been a Renolock for an extremely long time, but the fact that The Darkness is neutral and not class specific might actually have more of an effect on decks like this, and could very well shift the power level of how strong Highlander Priest has become, in standard and wild. I think the fact that Priest has become such a nuisance directly influences decks like the one you're trying to make here (and highlander mage which is pretty much dead in standard). If people think they can use The Darkness to shut out how annoying "machine-gun" Priest has become, we'll see a lot of this card. It's the Skulking Geist for Highlanders.
^ Yup. The chance of darkness before Kazakus is quite slim HOWEVER i'm more concerned about the darkness messing up Krul the Unshackled. There isn't a counter-to-the-counter (Aside from standard counterplay) so the best we can do is hope the The Darkness does not show up as much. Maybe plan on dumping the demons another way. Actually come to think of it Skull of the Man'ari is pretty good at substituting for Krul the Unshackled, and the opponent can't have BOTH The Darkness and an ooze, right? Just like they cant have both Prince Keleseth and Shadowstep.
If you play through all of your demons, and don't get any extras from Kabal Courier or Kazakus, there will be 12 Demons in the graveyard by the time you play Bloodreaver Gul'dan. 4 of those will essentially be Voidwalkers. There's also a 2/4 with taunt and a 4/4.
Assuming The Darkness is taking up a board slot. You will resummon at most 6 demons. I understand the appeal of Voidlord, but is it almost counter-synergy with your DK because it dilutes the graveyard? Resummoning Voidlord would obviously be great, but for any individual board slot, you are 4x as likely to resummon a Voidwalker.
Do u know, that u can control, which cards will be summoned by guldan? Its all about the sequence of demons getting played.
Your spot on - HOWEVER the deck plans on having so many good Demons kick the bucket that a few Voidwalkers will actually be a positive. I hadn't thought about the darkness getting in the way, the only foreseeable way to avoid this would be to avoid playing it?
Overall this isn't much of an issue with the KoFT iteration of the deck. And besides, half the time your up against a agro deck - and the Voidwalkers are actually the best outcome! Thats why 2xVoidwalker is run in the current Control Warlock.
yeah im opening 350 packs on day 1 so yeah ill have fun with all the cards......enjoying the game while others sit and wonder what to mak with the 2k dust they have.... feelsbadkiddo
