This card has it's rare moments, but I think it should have been "Each turn this is in your hand, transform it into a random minion that costs 1 less."
Not cumulative obviously, just a little discount to compensate the randomness.
Although that it makes the same "play" sound as Spawn of N'Zoth, it synergizes really well with the Grimy Goons' hand-buffing effects.
That lil' dude buffed to be a 3/3 and it transformed into Darkshire Councilman and it had 4/8 because of that.
I played it and next turn I played Stand Against Darkness. My opponent conceded after that.
I have been having a ball with this little guy in my Goon paladin deck. As many have stated before, he retains all buffs he gets in hand as he transforms, which means that normally weak minions that he could turn into become much better.
The single greatest moment I've had with this card was when my Don Han'Cho buff landed on him (along with a few other incremental +1/+1 buffs from other cards), then when turn 10 came around, this lil' buddy o' mine turned into C'Thun. I dropped him down as a 15/15. My opponent said "That's incredible" and conceded.
Thanks shifter
He should have a distorted voice when played
Tentacles are Cute!
got him from a 3-3 arena run pack ... another legendary in 3 packs after that in 1 day ... B-) ME AM LUCKY
Whenever I'm playing Zoo and I get this guy out of a Dark Peddler I usually pick him. I say to myself why not? What if he turns into something good? And that never usually happened. Until now. I picked up Zerus on turn 2. Each turn he turned into something different, Frigid Snobold, Maiden of the Lake, Naga Sea Witch, etc.
I was playing against a C'Thun Druid deck and I was running out of steam. I had to life tap every turn, and my Zerus wasn't being anything usefull. I had to use one of my Power Overwhelmings to push through a Dark Arakkoa and I knew my opponent had C'Thun in hand. Turn 7 rolls by and my Zerus turns into Ragnaros the Firelord. I groan at my misfortune of having him turn into an off curve amazing minion. I play the remaining junk in my hand and push face praying my opponent doesn't drop the C'Thun. My opponent Innervates out hisC'Thun obliterating my tiny board and pushing a decent amount of damage face. I have literally zero outs. Doomguard isn't lethal. No more PO's in the deck. No Voidwalkers to stop the C'Thun's 22/22 attack from slamming my face.
And then....my turn 8. Shifter Zerus transforms into....
Tirion Fordring
In all his golden glory. Flabberghasted, I drop him down then anxiously clench my anus. If my opponent has Mulch, I lose the game. But he didn't. His C'Thun pitifully slapped off Tirion's divine shield. On my turn I smack face and draw into some more minions to just throw in the board. My opponent not having an answer the prior turn has no choice but to waste his C'Thun's attack again into Tirion. I get my Ashbringer and push for lethal the following turn.
After that game I've never doubted this little dude. He may seem bad on paper given how many terrible minions there are in Hearthstone, but at the end of the day, all I had to do was put my faith in the light.
Ive seen a bug, that he transformed into Bolvar, got a buff in the hand, transformed again, but the buff was still on the transformed creature. I just conceded after this.
Not a bug. It's intentional. Shifter retains all buffs it receives while it's in your hand. I.e. if it turns into a Nerubian Prophet it retains it's discount on all future transformations. If it's a deathrattle card and you play Forlorn Stalker it will retain the +1/+1 even after it transforms into a non-deathrattle minion. Same applies with Bolvar Fordragon. Granted these are really lucky fringe case scenarios that rarely occur and are difficult to manufacture. Go check out Disguised Toast's video on all the funky Shifter interactions.
Fun fact: If Shifter Zerus becomes Nerubian Prophet, it recieves the discount on that turn permanently; even after becoming another minion the following turn.
Funny how before release all comments saying this got downvoted immensely.
Hey....
I just got this one from a pack.... besides 4 fun decks... can anyone see a real use for this card???
You never really want to waste a deckslot on this guy. There are way more important cards to fit into your limited 30 card deck that are more consistent than Shifter. However, if you pull this guy from a discover out of Dark Peddler, definitely pick him up. He's a good card to have in hand, just not one you want to waste a deckslot on.
Excellent work, Shifter Zerus!
Just as planned
Working as intended.
Just pulled my first Golden Legendary after over a year of play. And guess who,,,
Shifter Zerus
Well he provides a buff to Dark Peddler. Not sure I'll play him competitively, but I'm a bit of a collector and I like the look of him!
Haha! I swear the same thing just happened to me a minute ago! Golden Shifter Zerus :P
Awesome card. Got combo'ed by paladin's Equality+"anyshitthatdealsaoedamage" twice, was about to loose the game. Then the Dark Peddler came in hand. Discovered Shifter Zerus from his battlecry. Next turn this paladin faced ANCIENT OF WAR OUT OF FUCKING NOWHERE. With the "Created by Dark Peddler" note on it. After a couple of turns he was not able to remove it and conceded, made friend request and said that iam a cheater that gets some normally impossible to get cards from battlecries and he will report me. Also he had sex with my fat momma. Damn, that was so funny, that tard deserved this :D
