I will say it one last time. Or maybe Iam just dumb.
This card, is bad, really bad in Standard. With the current cards that were revealed, with the rotation comming with this new expansion, this card sees no place in neither of the Mages's deck. Simple as that.
People are only thinking in a straight line in here. And even then, people just claim "this will be strong in a tempo mage" when this card is a complete opposite of tempo. It costs 4 mana (already high for a minion in tempo mage) and has a body of 3/3 (which is absolutely atrocious) and the effect is by using a spell, which means, to get value off this card, you must also waste a spell to make it worth it and EVEN THEN the outcome might not be what you expected with that 2 drop minion.
This card has no body to survive on its on, has a weak effect and sees no place in any of Mage's decks.
Difference is, Paladin can continiously put threats on board faster and stronger than mage. Not to mention, setting up a Sunkeeper Tarim. Mage has no means or ways to benefit with RANDOM 2 drops. While call of arms can put specific minions on board.
Yeah, glyph might help this card but it will also depend on the choices presented to you and also, it will depended on the game (pick fireball, a secret, pyroblast, etc instead of frostbolt, mana bind, etc.)
This card wont manage to survive on its own at all. And is also a risky RNG card as well.
nope xd
This will never see play. There are two scenarios: 1) you play this on turn 5-6 in combo with a spell. On average you get a 3/3 and a 3/2 for 4 mana, while your opponent just pulled out a Voidlord or flooded the board with second Call to Arms. 2) You play this at 10 mana, when a bunch of 2-drops have no impact on the game anymore. Mage needs way better cards to recover from the loss of Ice Block.
Bad 4 drop, so you'll need other cards in that slot to play before this hits the board. Mirror Image and its generators have good synergy with the card providing cheap spells and taunts to protect it. Glyph will likely provide 2 spells in one for it, for 2 mana.
For this to have constructed level value, you are gonna have to get at least 2 spells off with it, preferably on the same turn that you play it, as it will resemble the mage version of Call to Arms. Definitely a card to try out, but in the current climate of powerful 4 drops that do no need further conditions to fulfil after getting played and "going wide" becoming worse because of powerful board clears this card might not see much play in a class that so far, cannot buff wide boards in any way.
Fun ones to get in standard:
a 1/1 - wait I wanted at least a 2/2!
Ancient Watcher - NOOOO my board space!
Cornered Sentry - wait didn't Dirty Rat rotate to wild?
Knife Juggler - I like more burn!
Lorewalker Cho - is giving my opponent a copy of this worth getting a 2-drop?
Millhouse Manastorm - HIGHROLL!
Pint-Sized Summoner - wait I can now play a minion with a discount too? (if Vex Crow stuck on board and you haven't played minions before casting spells (I have gotten her of evolve effects, so can confirm that it works))
Pyros - SO. MUCH. VALUE!
Radiant Elemental or Sorcerer's Apprentice - MOAR MOAR 2-drops
Shadow Ascendant - hehe win more...
Stubborn Gastropod - the ultimate killer of Deathwing
Wild Pyromancer - I suppose I stop now, don't want to clear my own board
and of course everyone's favorite - Doomsayer - NOOO I cleared my own board
