I like that this card is always on curve without fail, that's pretty sweet
I half agree with you on this and half don't.
Example 1:
I have 4 Mana am a priest and I have a knife Juggler and a spider tank in hand, my enemy has no minions on the board.
Choosing to play the spider tank for 3 mana would give me a 3/4 on board and would normally be the better play (in most cases but not all) however playing the knife juggler and hero powering + this would give me at worst a 4/1 with Stealth and Spellpower or a 0/5 lightwell (there might be worse 4 drops but this was off the top of my head as an example).
But what you said does have some merit, I mean would you rather play a solid 6 drop on turn 7 like Sylvanas Windrunner or play a weaker 5 drop and hero power for the chance of a 7 mana card that may or may not be good (even in this case the chances are it will be a decent card)
Even worse would be to be in top deck mode and draw this card super late game, it would be a dead card as it requires all of you mana spent to activate.
3 mana doomsayer, well i'll be dammed :-P
RNGesus approves of this card.
At turn 5 it is pretty good in standart and terribale in wild.
User zero mana, get a Wisp for the INFINITE VALUE!
Why do they keep buffing wisp omg.
Good up Nefarian!
I don't know if I like or not this card
It is completely random, and it can backfire on you if the gods of RNG don't give their blessings. More than it can grant you a powerful minion, I guess. Besides, it has no battlecry.
On the other hand, it's a card that fit nicely along the mana curve. Don't have a 3 mana drop? Now you have it. BTW, I guess it has some interesting with the coin
It also has no synergy as the mage counterpart does, triggering stuff like Flamewaker or Auctioneer.
Unless there is some kind of synergy out of this card - say, Summoning Stone, assuming it doesn't treat it as a 0 cost spell - it will not see play in constructed
At 8 mana you have probably the best probability to summon a useful minion: Al'Akir the Windlord, Chromaggus, Grommash Hellscream, Gruul, Ironbark Protector, Ragnaros the Firelord, Rhonin, Tirion Fordring. The only bad one is the Fossilized Devilsaur!
I preper my salt, I know yet how it'll end..
NeverLucky BabyRage incoming
well if you use 10, you get an auto deathwing or sea giant, not bad imo
Or Frost Giant. Or Varian. Or C'thun.
That makes it an 8/8 on average, which isn't great.
That sweet 6/6 cthun value with no battlecry. Not quite what was planned.

Fullmetal Hearthstone: Brotherhood ? :D
Well, this is actually pretty strong due to versatility. Can lose you 1/2 value or even more, but at certain mana cost there are expected outcome. You can even get more value if you are lucky, anyway, you can replace the 1 drop in your deck with this and still curve as well. This is so mana efficient and flexible.
