Alright, I gave it a go. Can't say I wasn't surprised, in a good way tho. This game has some good ideas that people already pointed out like the runes.
Not surprised that people leave Hearthstone in favor of this game, but as someone who played the beta of Hearthstone, I've learned that a promising Beta can lead to something meh, I hope it won't be the case for this one but I'm still waiting for Gwent to be honest.
before the game gets flooded with netdeckers its always more fun... sure...
even still, this feels and plays a lot like MTG which never really got old. its been around for like 25 years and going strong, which is why i predict ELS will stay fun past beta and release... i also bet they will balance better than Blizz, Blizz made some awful nerfs that could have been fair balances...
I don't really know about that, but honestly I'm just gonna ride the wave until they start slowing down how fast you can get cards in the game. Unless they find a way to churn out cards I don't imagine it'll be long before a large percentage of the player base has nearly full collections, which once it does then i'll just stick to Hearthstone full time because that's too big of a hassle to try and keep up with two card games like that.
Regarding the hat, thanks and haha. I made a video about purple yellow tokens. It is really cheap, effective, and you can build it with a wide variety of cards. My list had one legend, 3 epics (divine fervor), and I hit #20 legend with it. Hope that helps.
Can you link the PYT vid? I'm not seeing it on your YT channel. Thanks!
EDIT: Never mind, I found it. I guess I need to craft another Divine Fervor or two (only have one). In HS (as an FTPer) I learned early on never to craft non-legendaries, but I think DF might be the exception, i.e. multiples pretty much a staple in any yellow token deck. Agreed?
Interesting statements there. I definitely agree that you want 3 Divine Fervors not just for this deck, but pretty much any token deck. However, in the last episode of my podcast, Secrets of the Scrolls, both my co-host and I agreed that you want to be crafting epics and not legendaries. They are much cheaper and are quite impactful. However, we both like the idea of crafting 2 so that you have room to open them in packs as well. I'm curious to hear your thoughts on only crafting legendaries in ESL.
Well, I ended up crafting two more over the weekend and I have no regrets. As you stated in your vid, having three takes the deck to the next level and I mos def experienced the same thing. Most games that I’ve gotten one on the board by T-3 or 4 I’ve won, so you are absolutely right that this one card "makes the deck."
I look forward to watching your ‘epic’ vids today. In my limited experience, I would make the comparison that DFx3 is an essential craft (if you’re going to play any yellow token), much like Brawl, Ice Block and Shield Slam are essential epics to craft for mage and war in HS.
Thanks for your responses and vids, this n00b greatly appreciates them!
Elder Scrolls Legends is a million times more fun than Hearthstone! I logged into Hearthstone today for the first time in quite awhile and was taken aback by its garish design, sloppy balancing, and victories determined by coin flips.
I'm so hyped that people are enjoying my videos here! That's fantastic, thanks so much. Tiny Grimes and I have actually done a couple of podcasts together where we talk about Legends at length.
And of course, I've got my own YouTube channel which is all Legends, all the time!
Here's a video with two games in it that you all might enjoy.
Thanks for your vids, I especially like your new addition of music on the Double Header vid, good soothing stuff.
I wanted to respond in a bit of detail to the criticism or opinion rather that HearthStone has better characters and more memorable ones than ESL.
First off, this has nothing to do with game play and is IMO slightly off topic since it is 100% opinion, whereas pros and cons of say the lane system or a 50-70 card deck limit are not all opinion but facts about game play.
This same comment came up quite a bit when Elder Scrolls first got big as an RPG. People naturally compared it to Final Fantasy (which was on top of the RPG chain at the time), and to Bioware games like Knights of the Old Republic and Mass Effect. Elder Scrolls is good and all, but there isn’t much of a story, and no great characters people said… yup…
Well, the thing is, Elder Scrolls games including Legends is not trying to have an interesting set of characters or a flashy hook line story. It is more like D&D which has variety in race, class, monsters, skills, and attributes.
The characterization is in the races. If you are familiar and a fan of Elder Scrolls, this is apparent, if not, it may not be so obvious. And this is why ES do make such a great card game.
There are Khajiit (race of cat people), Argonions (lizard men), elf races (3 races, wood, high, and dark), and the human races of various strengths and weaknesses (nord, redguard, brenton, imperial, and redguard). These races ARE the characters behind the game. There are also the Dwemer machines (neutrals atm). They don’t stand out like Ysera or Rag, but the variety and combinations of color make up for this.
I don’t work for Bethesda, but I have been a fan since Morrowind which was released almost 15 years ago. Which is why I think that they deliberately made the characters subtle to focus on race, and let you focus more on the mechanics on the game and not get so wrapped up in who’s who.
As far as the art, it’s a bit dull in color… but its fine overall.
Shadowverse came out recently, and I have gotten very tired of the Japanese anime style, however, that has nothing to do with my critique of the game compared to ESL or HS for someone who hasn’t. That’s just my meaningless opinion and has zero to do with it. When I get around to trying Shadowverse, a graphics comment is no more than a quick one line mention if even that when I review it…
You can say you don’t like Chess because you don’t wanna look at black and white squares for hours. Someone out there might respect that opinion. But when critically comparing it to other games, it’s pretty meaningless.

Actually Elder Scrolls has one of the finest lores in any computer game. They have kept it from TES: Arena and developed it since, every game is packed with hundreds upon hundreds of books, scroll, hints, small secrets and dialogue to that effect. Some of it is even hinted at in small scenes you come across in the game. The mythos is very unique and extremely compelling, with a very rich character tree. Their daedric mythos is also completely awesome. Very little the cliche about gods of good and evil, but instead a sort of fantasy-twist on elder beings beyond human morals and understanding.
What they DON'T do is shove it in your face. There are no prolonged videos or cliched character dialogue. But it's there alright, thousands of pages, small finds, secrets and dialogue in every game - but it's for those who look for it and want to experience it.
I actually don't think any computer game comes close. But, in the TES way you can blast through the games only looking at the stats if you want. The story and the mythos is there only if you want your character to be part of it.
The Elder Scrolls: Legends PAX Arena at PAX West 2016
Bethesda is proud to be partnering with Twitch to bring The Elder Scrolls: Legends to Seattle, Washington from September 2 through 5 in the PAX Arena 4A at PAX West 2016. The PAX Arena will feature nonstop action such as sit and go tournaments, dev live streams, streamer matches and much more.
We’ll be streaming developer matches throughout the show, and we’ve also enlisted the help of some awesome streamers to help us out. We’re excited to welcome fan favorites TrumpSC, Hafu, Kolento and Kenji to PAX West. They’ll be on hand to commentate on games, battle against one another, challenge developers and even play against some lucky fans at the PAX Arena.
You don’t need to be in Seattle to take part in the fun, though. Folks at home can watch three hours of live broadcasts every day at Twitch.tv/paxarena, and you can also check out the game for yourself! The Elder Scrolls: Legends is currently free to play on PC and available to download at Legends.Bethesda.net, with iOS, Android and Mac versions coming later this year. During the weekend of PAX, any player that logs into Legends will receive two card packs absolutely free! (Card packs will appear the following week.)
PAX West is the first of many live events we’ll be doing for Legends, so download today, start building your collection and we’ll see you at PAX West!
Betrayer... In truth, it was I who was betrayed. Still, I am hunted. Still, I am hated. Now, my blind eyes see what others cannot: that sometimes the hand of fate must be forced! Now go forth... unleash the tides of Doom... Upon all those...who would oppose us.
Another TESL>HS example: TESL gives out Arena Quests (60g) - you'd think a no-brainer for Blizz? Fail.
Arena's kinda lame. It's kinda bullshit that some of the AI opponents not only get stronger, but usually have some lame tavern brawl like rule attached to the fight making it extra bullshit, so honestly I'd be pissed if I got a quest for arena, if I didn't already stop playing it
For the 2 weeks I played, I reached rank 1 in solo arena, legend(around #350 at the end of the month) and rank 3 arena vs.
For the moment, this game gives the same fresh feeling as vanilla hearthstone did. Most of player(including myself) are F2P and are missing a lot of the cards. You encounter a lot of clunky decks and funny experimentation. People are still trying to find out what works and what doesn't.
One of the greatest asset of this game, comparing it to hearthstone, are the rewards. You actually feel rewarded for playing. Arena rewards are a lot better than hearthstone ones. You get a free card (which can be a legendary) every 3 wins and more gold. You really have the feeling that your collection is growing and that you can try new decks very fast.
Speaking of the gameplay, it is very good but not perfect. Sure, at first you have the feeling that there is a lot less RNG involved, but after playing for quite some time, you get the feeling that a lot of your games are decided by a prophecy proc or a royal sage giving protection or lethal to the perfect creature instead of a useless guard or breakthrough. If you ask me, I find the prophecy mechanic very interesting because it requires some thinking playing around but it shouldn't make the cards playable for free (maybe make something similar to overload which take mana for your next turn).
In the end, ESL is a great game and I'm having quite a problem because I still enjoy hearthstone very much and I can't choose T-T.
im just gonna play both.. the only thing i plan on buying are HS adventures, its a waste of gold grinding them out...
and i agree, the rewards are a part of what helped hook me
Howdy folks! I have a brand new playlist for Season 2, in which we try out a brand new deck, culminating in a match against one of the developers of the game! I hope you're all doing well.

Well, if you don't like it then throw the quest back (or like the poster above said, play PvP). My point is that at least TESL gives players the option of Arena quests, for those that like it, unlike HS.
Has anyone seen a tier list for Epics? As an FTPer I’ve decided epics are the way to go for crating, rather than waiting to craft legendaries. So far I’ve crafted two Divine Fervors to make a play-set and have no regrets. I’m back up to 800 shards and trying to decide on what to craft next, i.e. solid cards like DF that can go into multiple decks. Any thoughts?
Game is very good ineed. Cards dont have insane RNG effects. Has a good comback mechanic which there is no in hearthstone (you draw cards if your opponent hit you in a face too much + prophecy is very good in control/midrange decks).
Overall any1 tired of broken RNG in hearthstone i stronly suggest moving to Elder Scrolls. Its much more complicated and skill based than RNG.
Victory or Death!
Thank you both TinyGrimes and JustinLarson for joining us!
Mundus Stone is super interesting. I'd like to try it with some of the tokens cards for sure.
I don't think that the Bone thing is a nerf as much as it's for flavor reasons, I read a post on the official forums about it.

The classic tier: Reno Jackson | Elise Starseeker | Brann Bronzebeard.
For those that haven't seen it, good ^vid^ with TESL Dev. He does an arena run while doing game Q&A, explains card dev background, etc.

DF is among the best cards ever, never mind epics. If you are ever playing yellow, you want 3.
Burn and PIllage is nearly as clutch IMO for red face decks. Its the equalizer for all those prophecies you will be proccing in such a deck.
For some reason Elder scrolls version of Battlenet won't work on my computer :(
I am going back and forth between the games and waiting for the Witcher beta.
I find I need to put more time into Legends, while deck-building is somewhat easier in Hearthstone.
