So I tried to get control quest shaman to work. Not much success. Just missing some synergies and good flow. Decided to make pure control with a lot of board clears.
First version had more cheap overload spells for 4 mana elementals that summon sparks. Then swapped it all for EVERY board clear possible.
Murlock AOE is actually very good spell, superior to hex and can also change your board of totems into murlocks when facing control decks like warrior.
I'm currently at rank 3 starting from 5.
Few words about a deck:
If you love overthinking turns, playing around opponents cards then this is definitely a deck for you. I'm still making some mistakes although it is my 7th day with this deck. WR is prolly around 60% BUT... Almost EVERY match up lost felt like it could have been won but I did make a mistake on the way.
If you are gonna play around every card in your opponent deck, plan your turns ahead down to fatigue then You can have my word for it - this deck is THE META CRUSHER.
Warrior - wrecked
Paladin - wrecked but OTK. Against quest you have to be very careful when using silence like effects. If you miss a chance to silence both parts of undatakah the turn he is played then you'll prolly lose. Be greedy with morph effects. You have a lot of heals, you dont have to morph/clear a board every time something gets played. Bait more cards from him.
Warlock - wrecked
Mage - was the hardest match up because mages turns were broken AF. Now it's ok but nobody plays mage no more above rank 5.
Priest - wrecked
Hunter - tough match-up but wrecked if played 100% correctly. At some point you can feel like there is no way to lose - WRONG. You have to be very careful when playing against hunter. I think this is the matchup I could have won 90% of the time but lost due to my overconfidence.
Overall, If you are looking for what is the most difficult deck to play then this is the way. Winning with this deck feels very rewardful, you feel that you actually deserved to win which cant be said with a lot of current meta decks where it's very easy to do whatever and win. Don't be overconfident. There aren't many threats you can play so be sure to play phaoris in the right moment or You will have to play until fatigue against most classes.
You can beat everything if you put your head to it. Try it and you'll feel that there is a lot of potential and that the deck feels very strong if maneuvered CORRECTLY. And what is most important, it is very fun and interesting to play.
Mulligan (most of the time):
murlock, hagatha scheme, far sight, doomsayer, zillax.
This deck is a lot of fun. I have a lot of experience playing control shaman and control decks in general. I started playing this deck almost exclusively at rank 5 and could not progress. Then I made one simple change and have since gone 12 and 1 from rank 5 to rank 3; I replaced both sludge slurpers with hexes. The sludge slurpers added almost no value with the game as it is played today. The synergy with storm chaser just isn't strong enough to make it worth adding.
I also played against people at these ranks that figured out what I was doing and would just drop a single bomb on the board, like a priest dropping mosh enforcer on the field, or a mage with mountain giant, Alex, or hunters with Brann. Having single target removal (especially with priest) was just so significant. Anyway, thanks for your deck as it inspired me to make the change and climb the ranks. I'd appreciate any feedback once tested.
Great deck:) I am so sick of battle cry shammy- back to my fave Haggy!
Mana tides are only a concern vs warrior, but u never encounter warriors anyway ^^ also they can tank 3 damage, or removal stuff, that can make doomsayer more resistent later or, and will also make giggling inventor more resistent too.
I added a second omegamind for consistent draw, and also i feel like its a needed tool against most otk/quest shaman
One game against Control Warrior - 1 win
so as an user said, feels like this deck can use more draw, and since elysiana got your back on this side, and in my opinion is either elysiana or king phaoris, i cut king phaoris and replace 1 far sight for 1 mana tide totem and 1 sludge surper for another mana tide totem, because i feel like having 2 of them is excesive, u want 1 to get the most out of hagatha, the first one does not really stop aggro early on, it causes overload to prevent area from being used, and 2 in late game gets ur hand too full.
mana tide can play against you if opponent knows how to play, but often times plague of murloc helps with it, also i rather burn a card or two and have a full hand of choices, since there is no decisive burn (except for ely,)
I found murloc to fight aggro decks better while still providing great value in different matchups. Having active turn 1 in HS can sometimes be game-winning. I often times get murloc and him alone with totem production and lackeys can fight for a board up until turn 3. So youre getting 3 turns of saved HP. You can also you murloc to prepare opponent board for full clear which I do often.
As You said there is a lot of danger when playing mana tide where you can burn cards + lose fatigue against warrior. As for draw overall I've almost never felt like it was a problem, rather opposite.
Thanks for the advice tho, if you'll have more success with your changes then I'm glad to hear them :)
I read the comments and I dunno. Maybe we're just getting different matchups or my starting hand is just better XD Will focus more on getrting stats from card tracker as I was usually playing on the mobile but so far its 10-5 and desktop and it was between 4 and 2.
I just focus on getting doomsayer, murlock, far sight and hagatha scheme. Sometimes zillax but it depends on cards you already have in hand. Against some decks you also keep earth shock.
Still, as I said, I do experience the same thing: I AM MAKING MISTAKES and I've been into hearthstone since GVG. Watching a lot of streams, reading tactics and so on. Like if you want me to be really honest? I lost a lot of games because of my mistakes. I could have easily reached rank 1 if not because of my mistakes imo.
I feel like elysiana is only usefull against control warrior. and its gone these days. so i replaced her with gigging inventor, together with swapqueen hagatha for another giggling inventor, i played control shaman the entire last season, and swamqueen was usually a burdain, moist of the time i used her was out of despair to get hex, and this season meta is totally aggro, so no point to carry her.
Without her, car draw will play against you, so keeping the far sights alone should be ok with no further card draw than thalnos, what do u guys think?
i find the deck a bit clunky after an afternoon of playing the deck. With so many big minions and not alot of card draw, its really easy to end up with a shitty opening hand, and being behind the whole game, hoping to draw an answer. With so many spells, I would like to suggest puttin in the Frogs for consistent draw. Yes, Plague is essential in Paladin/Priest matchups, and with so many big minions , its not so easy to flood the board for the PLague play, so you can only remove the minions with 2 cards.
In the game you show above, vs HOly Wrath, you start the game with 8,5,7,7,8 mana hand. LOL thats exactly the issue with this deck. Vs good players, its such an uphill battle to equalize. Obviously vs Holy Wrath, there is no pressure on you, so u have all the time in the world.
20 games isnt much. I know cuz all I do is build decks and play them. I dedicated to Control Shaman for all of last month, and KNOW tht you need consistent draw to do well over the long haul.
Of course there will be games where this deck shine, like vs Warrior of course or Priest.
Keep us updated on your progress next season if u still play it.
Cheers. thx for sharing your deck!! Keep up the good work!
Ok, so i tried your deck, and with so many big minions, i notice its pretty easy to get a shitty opening hand like, 9, 10, 9 drops for example.
that happened my first game and i was never able to come back from thaat, even with "correct" play.
thats kinda dissapointing. the next game was similar, i ended up with an 8, and a7 drop on my opening hand. that really hard to deal with, and with not much card draw to change that fact, its a rough go.
I imagine u either played over a 100 games or under 20 with that %winrate. Vs Quest Shaman, having that kind of start is terrible. If udont draw your Brew, your dead.
Still, i love Shaman and will continue to try your deck out.
I discovered recently that a heavy contolr list is viable again with Shaman. With the nerf to Lunas. its alot easier to stay afloat as control shaman nowadays. The author is totally correct about most lost games were becuz of small decisions made throut the game. (besides pure nut draw hands) thats how control games are supposed to be.
Well done on the list!!!
well with OTK Paladin, your try to play your Hagatha late for the 5 armor gain, then u keep a Witches Brew for after they play their first Holy Wrath. Then your out of range. Other ideas are to make big swing turns using discovered spells to look for a Storm Bringer ,Bloodlust etc..
Prob just lose to a huge Malygos play, but so what.
Any replacement for hagatha minion? :)
Dont you miss Hex?
Not a single time. Plague of murlocs is much better.
I love terms like Meta Crusher, especially this early on on ladder.
Just one question: how do you beat Maly Quest Druid, Mecha'Thun Warlock, Holy Wrath Paladin or any other OTK deck?
Over the course of like 20 games I fought Holy Wrath Paladin just once. And it was winnable but RGNJesus decided not to grant me any heal. No other OTK decks. Anyway, OTK decks beat control decks. Just deal with it as it was always like this and there is no arguing about that :)
I guess one can include Hecklebot if meta shifts towards OTK.

You're welcome :D
Can confirm I play Control Shaman without the Quest (looking at decks that include the quest for extra greed), smash Druids easily, usually heckle their Cenaruis, Nomi, Maly then clear the following turn or if its a rather small minion you can magnetize with Zilliax on turn 5.
Gameplan against Quest Druid (you suspect is running Maly cos not all are) is play Heckles, clear board and stay alive and then Shudder for extra heckles.. then Elysiana when deck dead... profit
p.s you can outheal the OTK Paladin by using Omega Mind + Hagatha/Earthquake on their first holy wrath turn, then after the second turn clear. gg. you can also run Saboteur.. if you had a brain you'd realise there are battlecries that counter combos.
Good win, well played. That pali just didn't know what he was doing. He had the 50 dmg combo and pissed it away with a good board clear still in hand. He was too scared of your windfury I think and that's good on you to force a missplay.
