First things first. Absolutely ashamed to see the fanboyism here and hatred towards other CCG games. The Hearthstone kids, yes, kids can be a real jerk at times. This is posted under other games section. The main purpose of this section is to discuss other games.
If you don't want to see these types of threads, then don't bother clicking other games section.
That said, Gwent is great. Legends is great. Faeria and Shadowverse are great too. The only reason they are not popular enough to give Blizzard a run for their money is that they don't have the high production value or popularity like Blizzard.
Second, all these other CCG developers care about their loyal yet small base. You can tell they care because it's a small base, but I'd say they care because they love to do what they do and it's more than just making money.
For Blizzard, you don't matter. You are just here to fill the empty spots. They will raise the prices, make worse cards, have no interactions with the community whatsoever and you will still play it. They made more than $500m last year from Hearthstone alone and yet increased the prices. So much for the community.
The only reason the game is alive and popular is because of the Blizzard tag. Take it out and you will see the reality how awful the game can be. I'm not saying that Hearthstone doesn't have good stuff. There are a lot of good stuff, but the so-called hostile environment has taken over all the good stuff along with ridiculous RNG.
Last, if you don't know about other CCG games or don't like it, feel free to share valid criticism. Don't bitch about people liking other CCG game more than your CCG game.
I played Gwent. A lot of Gwent while playing Witcher. Half of my time was spent running around and playing and collecting cards. It was super fun. Then this standalone version came out. I tried and I found it okay. I personally had more fun with the mini-game.
Will I still play from time to time? Yes. Do I want them to succeed? Absolutely. I might not enjoy it like every other game, but I still want to see better games getting their spotlight.

>take a break from Arena
>run a meme deck and face nothing but drooling T1-deck windowlickersI love control Shaman. But I'm not having good time against Jade decks.
Would love to see your deck. Cheers!

My opponent used up his all RNG during this match. Holy hell.
I was like...WOAH! NO WAY and burst out laughing when Rag hit my face. What are the chances? 7 minions and still hit the face for the win. Ended up adding and cheering up. The match was awesome. <3

Lorewalker Cho winning! Triggered him so hard. He was trying to get rid of it but in the end used his spell and then rage quit.
Then there is this guy. I was having fun with my Aviana deck. He was playing N'Zoth Priest. Everything was going just fine. Then I played 2xColdlight Oracle. Milled his N'Zoth, the Corruptor. He gets sissy. Next turn I finish him off fair and square. He adds me and then this happened:
I don't know French, but whatever it is, it sure is something crap. What made me wonder is, I was playing a fun deck. Not aggro or jade or pirate or any annoying deck to face against. My deck is slow. I even gave him so many cards and yet he started crying. Added me -> copy paste the message and deleted.
The first time I'm seeing someone getting mad over some fun deck. So far 5-6 people have added after losing to this deck and everyone was like, woah that was fun!
Anyways, always feels good to see an angry kid cry.

I like some golden cards, but as a whole agreed. Gwent golden cards are way cooler.
As for new players or players looking to build up the collection -> do SOLO arenas. They are very good and well done. The AI isn't so bad once you hit rank 4. At rank 1-2, it gets very challenging as well but you get better at the arena. The rewards are great for what you invest.
Elder Scrolls Legends - Arena Tier List -> very nice and useful site. I usually play in window mode, so it's handy to run this in the background while drafting.

No idea how much it'll cost but you can buy the expansion with gold. From the official article:
(of course, no pre-ordering using gold)The Story of The Fall of the Dark Brotherhood is broken up into three sections, or maps. Each map can be purchased using gold or cash. A special bundle price of $19.99 gets you all three maps.
