I also have fun with Zoo Galakrond Warlock and in the wild with Quest Mage with the sidequests with the new Malygos, I'm testing variations of those deck, I still have to try new decks with the other legendary ones that came out of this expansion. Very funny is this expansion.
There is a lot of good things to take from this expansion. However, they are completely overshadowed by the enormous negatives. Shaman aside, DoD is a clear example of the HS power creep that has plagued all card games in the past. Unless Blizzard gets creative HS will mostly die off like with Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh. Who knows though Blizzard has time to fix it but it won’t be easy, and either way the game will still exist just with a smaller community and outrageously strong cards.
Oh, I forgot to say I don't give a shit about Galakrond Shaman and I have been only playing with Rogue. Crafted all cards from this class (I'm a Rogue main :P) and didn't spend a single cent!!! :)
I'm enjoying it much more than any other expansion. But as long as shaman is broken as fuck, I'm not enjoying it so much that I would play the game, except to do quests once every three days.
Yeah. I hope the nerf to Shaman cards just limits to Mutate and Mogo (the “7” cost card that has rush) because it does a hell of a job stopping Pirate Warrior, which has the potential to be a trully cancern deck (because of its speed). So, yeah, even if I am not playing it, I think that this Shaman deck (which is very different to the former rabit +Mogo+Evolve on turn 4) is keeping the meta healthy. Indeed, its explosive turns come significatively later.
I'm also having fun since I really like playing Highlander Hunter, and there are some good additions and stuff to try. I don't do that much ranked though so I don't get bored of facing shaman all the time.
I actually have made Legend with Highlander Hunter, even after (or maybe because) facing a ton of Shamans, which proofs that there are other viable decks even if people do not use it (oh, and the secret Highlander deck I used was also good against all those crazy aggro made to destroy Shaman before turn 7).
OP, you're not alone! I really like this expansion. There's a lot of interesting stuff to try and I've been having a blast with several decks - Paladin Paladin (mech build), Big Dragon Druid, Dragon Handlock, Reno Mage, and there's still a lot I'd like to try, especially Rouge. It's so good that I haven't even played a single game of Battlegrounds since launch. And I went through a phase of only playing BG because it was so much more enjoyable than ladder at the time.
But, Shamans are an issue especially when it seem like over 80% of the people on ladder are playing some version of Galakrond / Quest Shaman. The deck is just too much stronger than anything else in the field right now. Maybe there'll be a deck that comes up that counters it easily but it probably won't surface before the nerfs come into effect. Also, Faceless Corruptor is just stupid. It's so far beyond Corridor Creepr it's actually funny. Anyway, I digress... aside from a couple of issues, DoD is a great set. Hopefully the balance changes will give us a little more diversity on ladder.
No you're not! Definitely iss a cool expansion despite shamanism. I'm very happay my favorite deathrattle rogue is viable again which suffers a lot from pirate warrior.
But Im seeing other cool decks this week and not just shamans. So hopefully we'll see more creative plays once balance change happens.
I honestly just gave in to shaman and have never been this close to legend. My version has some tech against highroll rogue and I have been playing a lot of quest hunter so I know how to play against that. Also win the mirror usually. My Winrate has never been this high. So that is kind of fun. Don’t really feel like experimenting any further right now, though. Which is a shame.
I hope the nerfs hit shaman so badly, so hard, they just gone until next rotation.
This is the asinine attitude that ruins the game. Don't re-balance the class, nerf it into oblivion.
Normally I'd agree with you, I think having a healthy class balance is crucial, and shaman is one of the 9 classes atm, so, yeah, balance it back to Earth.
But Quest Shaman was unbalanced even before the expansion, thanks to all the lackey support and Shudderwock. I remember that 1/3 of my games were Shaman, and now it is 2/3 of them. There are so many contenders for nerfs, this is pretty much like when druid had like 11 busted cards in K&C. So, for it to be balanced, you have to nerf it to oblivion, because it is soooo far up already. A normal nerf wouldn't cut it.
Two days ago I was tilting at rank 1 because everything was shaman. Then I decided to abandon climbing and just have fun. Fell all the way to rank 4 playing highlander dragon pally, but having a blast doing so. I take losses in stride and wins are so much fun.
HOw loosing is fun when u loose coouple of times in row against same deck ?
Sure, I guess it's fun in casual? How can you have fun in ranked when 80% of the matchups are variations of quest/galakrond shaman? It's a deck consisting of the most broken quest and the most broken galakrond, it's not even like there's any actual tech card that works against battlecry and tech shenanigans. Trying to go up without giving in to this insanity is a nightmare really, worst expansion launch ever from a ranked point of view. And that's a shame because overall the cards are awesome.
I'm also loving it. I've made tons of odd, but fun decks with just Bad Luck Albatross and Dread Raven alone and I still feel like I've only scratched the surface. There's still so much more to experience with!
It's all fun and games until you face shaman (so, not fun 99% of the time rn)
I also have fun with Zoo Galakrond Warlock and in the wild with Quest Mage with the sidequests with the new Malygos, I'm testing variations of those deck, I still have to try new decks with the other legendary ones that came out of this expansion. Very funny is this expansion.
I can resume this way:
When play vs shaman I hate this expansion.
When play vs anything else I love this expansion.
I hope the nerfs hit shaman so badly, so hard, they just gone until next rotation.
Yes, you are the only one. You are a special snowflake in the desert ....
This is pretty much a standart launch as the forums look exactly like this after every expansion start

I'm really enjoying this expansion!!! :D It has been a very long time since I decided to play on ladder seriously!!! :)

I love the expansion, it’s so much fun in wild. Sooooooo many new decks. Each class has like 6 different decks :D (or more)

I just hope priest cards get some buffs too :)

I like it also. I am a wild player and think wild is really fun atm around rank 15. It has been a while since it was actually fun in wild mode.
