>pretty balanced meta with all classes seeing almost equal play asides from maybe one class that has around 15-17% playrate
>”balance” changes
>hunter playrate is 30%
>druid playrate is 3%
I’ve kept an eye on the vicious syndicate playrate since they started making reports. I don’t think I can remember a time where the numbers have been so skewed, especially after balance changes.
The next time team 5 decides to destroy multiple archetypes that many people enjoy playing, maybe they should actually do some thinking. I understand some people may enjoy not facing certain decks anymore, but from a balance perspective, blizzard fucked up terribly.
I do however agree with the kingsbane nerf. Not because I don’t like the deck, but because it was a very oppressive and polarized deck. Shudderwock is not as understandable, as it was tier 3, could fail, and could be pressured by even some control decks. The druid nerfs were overkill. I believe they only needed to nerf either wild growth or nourish, not both. It was pretty obvious that hunter would be very powerful as it’s counters got nerfed and hunter itself didn’t.
They nerfed two Druid cards that needed to be nerfed sooner or later. Two OP cards that were included in virtually every single Druid deck. Its does make it hard to play Druid now, but every class has had its down time, and Druid has always been broken.
Nobody, save a couple of whiners like OP, really cares about Hunter being the most played class. Hunter has four different archetypes, and they basically use different cards (except for one, of course), and play differently. Hence, there is variety. And you get to figure out which Hunter you are playing against before Turn 10 - something you couldn't say about Druid.
Shudderwock is no longer a thing anymore. Druids are gone. They did an amazing job.
Will be for sure but for some reason they keep hunter OP and don't nerf the completely broken, out of control and insanely undercosted cards, like the DK and the spellstone, turning the meta into a hunterstone BS.
My favorite part of the druid nerf was the fact that it shat all over the supposed class identities. Ramp was supposed to be what made druid druid. On the other hand, people were always complaining about how druid was infringing on other classes' class identities by being a better armor/removal/draw/crowd control class
Instead of nerfing armor gain so that warrior can have their identity as the armor class back, they nerfed ramp. Now druid is still the best at a lot of things they're not supposed to be and not good at something that is unique to them lol
On top of this, they've now nerfed a total of 3 evergreen ramp cards thanks to an issue they introduced themselves by not balancing KFT properly. Ramp isn't the problem; KFT was. If you think druid is bad now, wait till you see it after KFT rotates. In the long run, the printing of UI was the worst thing that ever happened to druid
I've played tons of card games and "2 mana gain 1 permanent max mana" is a staple class card for the ramping class. In exactly none of these other games has this card ever remotely been a problem or nerf candidate despite most of them being a lot more nerf-happy than HS. The difference is that none of these other games printed something UI or spreading plague in the same class. Meanwhile, nourish was literally a weak, meme-tier card until KFT
Mind you, I'm not mad even as a druid main. I've picked trash tier classes to main in the past. Making things work again and surviving in the hunterstone meta is a new challenge. I just find the way that they went about "balancing" hilariously bad
If they only nerfed 1 druid card, the decks would probably still be playable. The point clearly was to kill ramp druid and they did with a double nerf. So all those players moved to play hunter.
No mention of the Level Up nerf in this thread, probably because everyone hated the deck and praised its nerf. A bunch of Odd Paladin players probably started playing hunter.
Shudderwock was nerfed because the interaction with Chain Gang is just too crazy, not necessarily because the deck was too powerful. This seems to be more of a fundamental game design balance change. Roping the opponent to death is not really a goal of Team 5 I would imagine. The Chain Gang nerf affects more than just shudder too, a soft nerf to Keleseth and Zoo decks, so the nerf hits many combo and aggro decks, part of the reason hunter can be so dominant.
Kingsbane nerf seems to be a game design change as well, an effort to curb the polarizing decks.
So what happens after a nerf when a major pool of the meta, multiple tier 1-2-3 decks, instantly becomes unplayable? Play the next cheapest strongest thing, currently hunter.
Therefore I think the meta is just very reflexive to this nerf and people haven't branched out to play other classes/decks because so many of the most dominating decks disappeared overnight. Hunter is strong but there are many counters. I will admit it's hard to play the game right now at the higher ranks if you don't want to play hunter, because you really have to either commit to a control deck or just roll your dice with an aggro/midrange. It's not fun to play when you have to choose between hunter or a counter to hunter.
Team 5 probably okay with hunter domination because they have 2 heroes printed; they want everyone to have fun playing them lol (horrible optimism).
They did excellent job, please go cry on some tibia forums. Its so easy to counter hunter geez. Also 3 hunter decks at the top is so much better then 3 druid decks. Kingsbane and shudder gone THANK YOU TEAM 5
A class got op> make a thread and complain about it> it got nerfed> another class got op> repeat. So either make a anti-meta deck or wait until the meta stable (which is hardly going to happen)
What grinds my gears most is the fact that odd paladin is still top tier 1 after such a huge nerf. That just shows how OP odd paladin was before the nerf...
That's for standard, and that format is anyways dying, wild however, is in great position
Wild has been in an awful state for multiple expansions already. If you want to blindly fanboy wild over standard for some reason, be my guest, but don't start bringing blatantly false information to the table, thanks.
So we have a salty Druid. It was all shits and giggles when druid was suffocating the meta with its 'stall and hope' BS. Now that another class is more popular, the game is 'broken'? Whatever, someone is always on top, an it always changes. Move along, nothing to see here.

I think the balance patch was needed sooner or later, and waiting until the next rotation would be too late so it's overall a good thing. Hunter has become very strong because of this, but The only card I cannot stand right now is Deathstalker Rexxar. Everything else is honestly fine. Spellcasting classes have adequate board clears for hunter's spellstone (Mass Hysteria, Dragon's Fury, Hellfire etc.), which has become the new baseline turn 5, much like Giggling Inventor was. Aggro decks can also outtempo them and all decks in the first few tiers can beat each other, so it's not a rock-paper-scissors meta as the ones we're used to, which is great. There is also an anti-secret tech, which no one seems to be using. I am a little sad I cannot play any druid decks now, though. I don't want it to be broken, I just want it to be viable.
Shudderwock and Kingsbane are cards I think they thought are gonna be cool to use with different cards, I don't think they ever saw the broken stuff coming. That's a huge oversight, and I'm glad Shudderwock OTK and Kingsbane with unlimited healing potential doesn't exist anymore, those and Jade Idol, pre-nerf Raza Priest and Rogue Quest are the cards/archetypes that were never supposed to exist to keep the game at least a bit under control.

Don't forget that hunter is losing a lot of good cards after the rotation. No more Wandering Monster, Lesser Emerald Spellstone, Deathstalker Rexxar, Crackling Razormaw, Flanking Strike, Candleshot, To My Side!,Rhok'delar, Kathrena Winterwisp, Play Dead, Terrorscale Stalker and Devilsaur Egg (which is a neutral but mostly played by hunters).
Your suffering is only temporary (probably). :)

Hunter's overall popularity is 31%. Warlock, Warrior, Mage, Shaman and Druid COMBINED have ~32%. Five freaking classes.
Add 3 or 4 Tier 1 decks to the mix. Even the nerfed classes/decks were nowhere such level of popularity or performance.
This should be ringing alarm bells everywhere, unless somehow T5 is completely unaware or allowing it on purpose for some reason.
