If you see someone with a basic skin for a gun in a shooter,do you assume they have spent the necessary amount of time in the game to be good at it? Cosmetics go a long way in showing the amount of time a player has put into a game and can sometimes indicate skill.
I don't understand which of my comments you're replying to whatsoever. I see that you said "I usually play with the basic cardback so people think i'm new and i get underestimated" and you see that I said "I play with the Ninja card back strictly. It's to show people I've been around for a while." You understand that I know people see a cardback and understand someone's been around for a while, and I know that you don't let your cardback dictate perception of your ability. We understand each other quite well in this instance, what I don't understand is the point you brought here in response to me, if there was a point. Help me with elaboration?

I was replying to the dress comment, i'm still fairly new to the site so i sometimes screw up responses. The point I was making is that there is cardback psychology because you can use cardbacks as a way to bluff skill or lack thereof.
I just use the Blue Portal cardback because i like how it looks.
I'm sure there is some psychology when it comes to card back choice however since most card backs are limited its hard to form a stereotype on a specific card back.
I run blizzcon 2016 because it's rare. That's about it for me. That or the oldest cardback I own, but for the most part I just play rare ones over the rest
Well, this is not valid anymore since there aren't that many PW's atm, however before the nerfs whenever I was matched against a golden warrior with legend cardback, and some retarded battletag like KiLLeRRJaaSSOnn I immediately knew he was playing pirate warrior. I was right all the time XD
I've noticed that some players give away their deck archetype based off of the card back they choose. This wouldn't matter much during the game (or in arena), except the mulligan is important. For example, I've played against quite a lot of Rogue and Warrior players that go with the Pirate card back. You can expect in most cases for those players to be running pirates. Queue into a Druid with the Jade card back. Could it be aggro or ramp? Definitely jade. If my opponent has a Christmas card back, Valentine's Day card back, or the Rainbow or Cupcake card back, they're probably going to emote the most and play a troll deck. The legend card back is interesting, as it can be super frustrating for a new/F2P player who queues into someone using it at Rank 20. Do you think the card back choice matters? Should players care that they let their opponent know what they're going to be before playing a single card?
It doesn't matter to me in the slightest, and I didn't notice any correlation between cardbacks and decks played (and I don't get "scared" or whatever when I play a Legend cardback user), but I actually used Jade cardback back when Jade Shaman was all over the place, and I was playing my Malygos Shaman, to try and play mindgames with my opponents...don't really know if it affected them, but I'm guessing at least some of them mulliganed incorrectly based on it...
I do try to match my card backs with the type of deck I'm playing. However, if I don't have one that I think fits, I have a general favorite card back that I switch up every now and then. In general, I try not to base my expectations for the deck off my opponent's card back.

Working on updating my deck gallery and making it public. Some decks are not current. Net deck at your own risk.
Pandaria (aka season 1 card back) is by far the worst card back to see in an opponent. It means they were here since the beginning of hearthstone and know their shit. It's WAY more scary than the Legend one. When I see an opponent with a Pandaria card back and a golden alternate hero to spice it up, I know my anus will suffer.
I also noticed that Legend card back players are significantly more likely to BM, which contradicts the popular idea that it is bad players who BM. They may see it as a tactic, but at the end of the day that still makes them dicks.
Guess it's time to start using my Pandaria card back more on ladder. I never use the legendary card back since I think it looks fugly at best.
I normally use heroic naxx or blue portal since they are strictly my two favourite cards backs visually.
I don't care what card back anyone uses per-say, I know RNG is more likely to fuck up my day then a card back or roping or spamming emotes. A card back does not effect my play choices.
Damn... Those guys must be terrifying indeed. I'll probably try that out sometime.

In this game even if you could see the hand of your opponent at all time it still wouldn't matter as much as the RNG element .
Try sniping a streamer and you'll see that you still lose a lot of time even with perfect plays because of bad luck .
So to answer your question the fapt that your opponent might guess your deck based on your cardback is almost irrelevant for gameplay .

I always try to play the card back fitted to the deck archetype I'm playing : Dragons ? Black Rock mountain pre-order card back. Mage ? Heroic Karazhan Card Back, etc.

Dude, really? Where was he salty in that post? Did he curse or insult someone or even sound even remotely angry?
Man, this link has been thrown around so much you people don't even know how to properly paste it anymore.

it's pretty irrelevant, but people with card backs predating goblins vs gnomes are at a higher chance of knowing what they're doing then someone with a card back that came out last month, and this is a game of stats and chance after all.
i think you should take every game seriously no matter what card back your opponent is playing though, even if it might seem like they're a total noob, and as far as mulligans go you should always mulligan for your own win condition and try to make the opponent have the answers

The 1st step towards a better game is firing Mike Donais! We had enough of his "skillful" balances!

You know what kind of players always scared me ?
The ones that play alternate heroes (Magni/Medivh/Alleria) .. with the classic card back.
Damn... Those guys must be terrifying indeed. I'll probably try that out sometime.

I honestly don't give a shit about Cardbacks and never pay attention to them.
If you are using the Pirate or Jade card back however you need to just die.

I exist, I think.
