I think it should not be nerfed, I recently played against someone who got the perfect hand and in turn 2 he did bring an Edwin 10/10 so I obviously lost because I had neither silence or removal. It may tilt some players when this happens because they didn't had a chance to even play the match but fortunately this does not happen very often in my opinion. And as we know this game it's also luck based when many times you start with the right hand and the opponent don't, especially for decks with early win condition cards or decks which snowball quickly.
I would agree if it wasn't for the fact that this has been a problem since classic. What you're describing is perfectly fine for a very strong and dominant card that is in a set rotation, it is less fine for a card that never goes away. It has been consistently not fun to play against for what, six years now? At some point you have to hall of fame the thing because it's stupid that every rogue has had it in their deck since the dawn of the game.

It's simply not true. There were several rogue archetypes that were not running edwin at all or he was too weak and people cut him off at some point. Quest rogue, kingsbane rogue, odd rogue, maly rogue, mill rogue, apothecary rogue, weapon rogue and stealth rogue are decks that never needed edwin. With so many archetypes that excluded vancleef from their list I don't see blizzard hall of faming him unless they decide to change rogue's class identity.
When was this poll made? Of course it needs to be hall of famed. a card that is so polarizing that it can win you the game on turn 2 needs to be hofd and it's rightfully going to be hofd next expansion. Dumb card.
Deckbuilding is part of many of the skills to play a children's card game like this. There are many cards, use ur brains and read them, maybe something come out from this.
I don't think Edwin is the problem card, the problem card is Shadowstep. It's literally a copy of your best Battlecry in a deck and a +4/+4 for Edwin 99% of the time, also being absurdly strong with cards like Wand Thief, Jandice, Foxy Fraud, or even like Hanar to effectively give it Immune for a turn. If Shadowstep was HoFed, Edwin could be OK.
You say that like it's a good thing. Rogue has lived long enough on the backs of edwin and shadowstep, its time for a change. They are great cards for rogue but they shouldn't be around forever. They are boringly efficient. Oh btw, classic legendaries should not be as good as edwin anyway.
I don't think anyone is saying that Edwin doesn't have counters, they're arguing against Turn 1 or 2 14/14s, which is fair. It's pretty stupid to lose the game outright on Turn 1 just because your opponent drew the nuts and you didn't have the 1 card that could counter him in your opening hand.
According to Vicious Syndicate, 23.5% of ladder is Shaman and 23% is Rogue. Totally not Rogue dominated meta. 👍

Edwin is not a problem.
The main question is: How do we deal with a 12/12 Edvin?
yes Hall of Fame, its not like rogue hasn't been kicked enough over the years

Consume Magic, Devolving Missiles, Shadow Word: Death, Sap, Argent Braggart are all 2-mana or less cards to answer a huge early Edwin
HOF

Change it back to his pre nerf version.
Give Edwin stealth again!
It will probably get HOF I want my free 3200 dust!

People on hearthpwn: most classes lack identity, the classic set must be changed.
Also people on hearthpwn: nerf the only classic set class legendary that sees play.
Exactly. Edwin AND Shadowstep are part of Rogue identity.

No, stop talking nonsense.

I love the argument that hofing this card would destroy its class identity.
What is its class identity? Winning on 2 with a 12/12? That's not class identity, thats just bad card design lmao

Edwin is a 8/10 card, pretty good but...
Shadowstep is 10/10.
Rogue can work pretty well without Edwin but will be touph if lose Shadowstep.
How do you like a turn 2 8/8 VanCleef? Just happened to me...
