I think the card is okay, but they could adjust his stats slightly.
Edwin VanCleef 3 mana 2/4 Combo - For every card played, gain +2/+1.
That way he's less obnoxious if you chain a bunch of cards together. (For example, if you play 5 cards he's now a 12/9 instead of a 12/12) But he's about as good or better if you only play a few. (4/4 -> 4/5, 6/6 - > 6/6, 8/8 - > 8/7)
The basic & classic cards really undervalue how much health is worth.
He's fine. Rogue has a great Classic set, but it's a Tempo class by nature, so it's tempo oriented set is easiest to define... What could you replace him with that doesn't use a keyword? I'd say the other Classic legendaries just need a buff to make them more relevant.
So, my final answer is no, Eddie is fine, but the other classes need updates/replacements/buffs.
So much salt in this thread. Some people act like rogue hasn’t been nerfed before. Uh... they are the most nerfed class in hearthstone. Classic cards too. Preparation, vanish, blade flurry, conceal, master of disguise, even backstab and defias ringleader if you go back far enough. Not only that, but big spells like assassinate and sprint are unplayable because of preparation being nerfed. Edwin is a powerful card, sure, but it’s part of rogue identity and one of the ways rogue was designed to win. Without edwin, rogue would be in the gutter. And he’s honestly not that hard to deal with. Even if I play a 10/10+ on turn 3-4, it gets removed half the time, and it’s not that often you can make one that big so early. Past turn 5, it’s removed almost guaranteed unless you are an aggro class, but at that point, why haven’t you won already?
Edwin is the ultimate gambling man’s card. High risk, high reward. There have been many games he’s won for me, and many where I spend turn 4 burning all my cards for this bad boy just to be turned into a sheep. Maybe up his mana cost by one or something but I don’t quite think it’s necessary.
For the complainers, first time this happens in 102 games (less than 1% chance), and then the shaman de-volving missiled it turn 3. There are plenty of removal and huge Eddies don't come around every game. #nohalloffame
No need to HoF this card. Rogue would be in the dumpster without something like this card. Love the flavour and there is more than enough removal to counter it. I think the actual Issue lies with Foxy Fraud and Shadowstep.
I don't think it's a card that warrents a nerf, but the 'unfun' autowin a game on turn 1 2 or 3 just makes me feel like he should go to the HOF
This is only possible because of Foxy Fraud right now since when you Shadowstep it you actually gain enough Mana(by reducing the Cost) to play Edwin on turn 2 or even turn 1 with Coin.

You do realize that this is precisely why it's a problem right? Edwin has been the elephant in the room preventing design space for rogue cards to be properly explored and printed for over five years now. They need to hall of fame it because Edwin keeps breaking the game everytime Rogue gets good cards that discount stuff or is otherwise cheap and easily combo-friendly. Edwin needs to be removed from standard so that Rogue can get good cards printed in the future without Edwin breaking the entire game being a consistent concern.
cap him to 5/5 or so for standard and keep the unnerfed version in wild. problem solved
Man this sounds so good I can't believe you are not a developer. Jokes aside, you can't make a card with different designs for wild and standard, it's an awful idea.
Edwin is fine, huge edwin coming down early means rogues will have no cards after that. If you deal with him they just enter top deck mode starting with turn 2-3. If you don't then there is a chance you lose, sometimes snowball happens, it's not like every single game you face a 12/12 edwin on turn 2. If he comes down in late game that should not be a problem, control decks can easily deal with him and aggro decks just don't care.
Whenever I play against a rogue I always keep a single target removal for this reason, I rarely get to snowball my opponents with a huge early edwin and I rarely get snowballed.
van cleef is the classic "good when he's good" card. Id say he wont be pulled on but they shadow-realmed Velen so who knows.

Idk why we still have so fucking much Edvin salt. We have a tread for salt ffs
Nah, the Brotherhood shall prevail. :P

No just delete the fox and Edwin is fine.
at least a silencing card should be in every deck. Van Cleef is nothing once silenced.
NINE Packs opened with 2 legendaries inside insofar
J Alexander drops a tear on this comments
Edwin is the gives tempo rogue a fighting chance against face decks, and even so, they must pray for no silence.
Without Edwin, rogue would need a lot of new very strong cards to remain competetive.

Problem was never Edwin, the problem always was 0 mana cards and mana cheating mechanisms.
