If you intend to use it in a Burn Mage, this is basically equivalent to Bluegill Warrior that can bypass Taunts. If you don't run them in your deck now, there is a good chance that this minion won't make the cut as well. Ability to bypass Taunts is nice, of course, but it's still just 2 damage for 2 mana.
The combos with AoEs are super powerful, on the other hand. And it keeps your elemental chain going.
Great card they should've done something like this a long time ago for mage. It's more of a control or tempo card that isn't inherently a cheap burn enabling card.
I kinda prefer Bloodmage Thalnos in aggro decks, since you can get the spell damage more than once (if you combine him with various spells) and a cycle. If you only use 2 spells, you will get the same result (the same amount face damage).
If someone really asks me, I see this as a weak card. The only good usage is with the Unexpected Results spell (for now). I want to see the rest of the mage spells (the class' legendary one), in order to evaluate this better, but in a spell heavy deck Bloodmage Thalnos would work a lot better.
As for Arcane Explosion - uhm, Kappa? I hope most of you were joking about this spell. Don't tell me that you are willing to include this weak AoE just for the sake of this 2-card combo. It's definitely not worth it; we warlocks used to play Tainted Zealot with Defile for a 5-damage AOE and we also benefited from our HP. I don't see what's so impressive with the aforementioned mage combo - just include Kobold Geomancer while you are at it.
How is this better than Bloodmage Thalnos? On turn 2 it is just a vanilla 2 mana 2/1, really weak. To use it in combination with board clear makes no sense, not worth the deck spot.
Obviously strong. Not for the summon card, but for all that good tempo mage stuff. If the meta shifts away from 30 armor druids, this might end up strong again
I am really curious how it works with runes. Thank you for pointing that out!
Actually this is really good. Not only it is playable with Unexpected Results, but also great with most mage spells (especially burn for more reach, and AOE for the value). Will see play in most mage decks, basically tempo, big spell and probably new mage archetype

This provides a whole 2 damage burn for 2 mana, almost as good as a ping.
I am not aware of any deck besides Malygos Druid that profits significantly from Spell Damage, and this card does not raise my hopes of a new deck of that type appearing.

5 mana 15 dmg to 7 mana 25 dmg if you can combine both with Cinderstorm. Ye-outch!
Nice art, nice effect, nice mana cost. One of the best cards revealed so far. Loving it.
Ye another card that get even more dmg for direct spell and can be comboed with Fireball and the like. Exactly what we needed :(
For what profit is it to a man, if he gains the world and loses his own soul?

Or you could only use Bloodmage Thalnos and you will get better results...
[edit] In the past Freeze Mage used to play Evolved Kobold in combination with Tauri.

Arena experiences:
Now thats a card
Hmmm... did this change? I once had an eye for an eye lethal thx to spelldamage.

I like it, but I'm not sure if a spike of spell damage is worth trading constant spell damage
Elemental synergy I guess
The fact that so many people think this card is good and will actually be played reminds me that hearthstone is a children's game.

i think yes, since minions on a board work on Explosive Runes
It said "this turn", which mage secrets doesn't work out during your turn.
I like elementals and totems.
Greater missiles would be 15 face dmg for 9 mana (potentially).
The golden animation for this should be amazing
