Was playing Bazooka Paladin versus Even Warlock. The guy had, besides the usual Mountain Giant on 4, Rin, the First Disciple on 6. But I didn't worry a lot as he didn't kill it immediately. All I had to do is to draw one of the Holy Wraths and he's dead. After turns of stalling and cycling through the deck while he was comfortably playing his seals, 4 cards left in the deck and no sign of Holy Wraths. Warlock just plays Azari, the Devourer and my win condition disappeared, as well as an Equality I needed to deal with the board.

No way to win the game. I just handed the victory to the lucky guy with the above good draws and the awkward deckbuilding decision of putting Rin in such a deck

posted a message on Love Bazookadin but...

Earlier today, I faced an Odd Warrior while playing Bazooka Paladin and he got over 40 armor in addition to his 30 health. I had no hope winning the game, until I changed the plan and, instead of going for Holy Wrath combo, I pressed hero power (as Uther of the Ebon Blade), played Zola the Gorgon on token, followed by Augmented Elekk (I use it for to shuffle more tigers for double wrath the turn after, just in case 25 damage is not enough) and Baleful Banker on Zola so that I have what to copy other tokens with. Three turns later I had three different tokens thanks to my Zolas and won the game using the exodia combo.

I hope this helps you with mastering the deck

Why not: "Battlecry: Recruit 3 Pirates. Give them Rush."?

Recruit is the keyword that defines the expansion Kobolds and Catacombs. That's why older cards like Y'Shaarj, Rage Unbound and Patches the Pirate with the exact same mechanic never got their text changed into the keyword Recruit

Why don't you just run a good spell instead ?

In that case why would mage run Primordial Glyph instead of just a good spell ? Because it is a good spell as well, and so is Haunting Vision.

     A couple of reasons:

1/ Mage has several premium cards that synergise with spell-casting, as well as its quest, so triggering these twice through Primordial Glyph and what you discover is often worth the deck slot

2/ Primordial Glyph discounts the card no matter what turn you cast it on, so you can play it for tempo at the right moment. The discount on Haunting Vision might not even be used.

3/ Mage, generally speaking, has a stronger pool of spells to choose from than Shaman so the discover effect is more consistent

Haunting Vision looks indeed like a fairer Primordial Glyph, but this is card is pretty flexible and 0-mana discover a spell is quite valuable. Shaman also can combo this card with Electra Stormsurge to get a 3/3 elemental, discover a spell, get a random shaman spell and 6-cost discount for the next spell in the same turn, all for just 6 mana and 2 cards, and I say this is a very good bargain.

It is also a good drop from Hagatha the Witch, a really great Far Sight target, and has infinite value with itself (yes I know this will never happen, but it's a funny dream scenario, isn't it ?)

Primordial glyph (was) good mainly because you could potentially use it and then play the discounted spell when you wanted/needed to. Haunting visions does not allow that, as the "discount" is only for that turn you play it. This card will potentially be the worst card in the expansion, I'll be greatly surprised if I'm wrong.

Edit: also mage spells are far better than shaman spells.

While mage spells are very good, shaman spells are pretty good as well, but many of them are just not worth a spot in shaman decks.

It's noteworthy that other than this card, shaman keeps getting better spells every expansion, which make cards like Hagatha and Haunting Vision even better

Do you think it would stack the discount when used with Electra Stormsurge?

I don't think it will but it would be amazing if it did

Why would it not? "Your next spell this turn costs 3 less", when cast twice, equals a 6-mana reduction.

Btw, I just noticed there are no brackets around the "3" in Haunting Vision as you usually would have when referring to mana cost. See e.g. Primordial Glyph and Preparation.  Blizzard (in)consistency for the win.

So u are spending 6 Mana to get a 6 Mana discount.... I don't know, looks quite dumb

No, you are not, because Electra Stormsurge's effect does not make you incur the cost of the spell twice. There is absolutely no reason why it would work differently for Haunting Vision (so you will spend only 3 mana but cast it twice).

Geez, sometimes I wonder if people are being deliberately obtuse.

Actually, I do not think that it applies in that way; because the mana reduction from the first Haunting Vision will probably reduce the mana costs of the second Haunting Vision which you do not have to pay because of Electra Stormsurge. And then the spell you cast afterwards only gets the mana reduction from the second Haunting Vision. So you will discover one shaman spell, get one random and a 3 mana reduction for the next spell you cast this turn. At least this is how I would interpret it ...

"The next spell YOU cast" : The spell cast by Electra is already free and is not cast by you anyway. So the cost reduction is doubled

posted a message on Does HS have an algorithm to put you against your counter deck?

I think that the matchmaking algorithm matches you with an opponent of the same rank, but depending on your winrate or winstreak (or losestreak), your class, your opponent's class and your performance against that class. That probably explains why people keep getting matched with counters and why the meta is completely changed after you switch decks
