What I wonder is how it will work in two years. Obviously, the deck recipes will update and will always be standard. But Whizbang the Wonderful will be wild. Can you then only play him in wild but always get a standard only deck? Probably, but it sounds paradox.
I love the idea and I was deciding to craft a golden version when the expansion launches. However, I am a wild player and I realized that all the deck recipes are in standard. So Blizzard will either have to add some wild recipes (very unlikely because of the variety of decks you can make in wild) or this card will be nearly useless in wild.
No one is going to play Whizbang in order to be competitive - he's "nearly useless" in Standard as it is. He's a great design, allowing everyone who doesn't take the game seriously, and all the part-time players with tiny collections, to have a blast playing HS with a bunch of cards that would otherwise take years for them to collect.

I'm a wild player and I love to play all sorts of meme decks. However, with this card I can't enjoy any of the wild-only cards I enjoy messing around or experimenting with. As a wild player explain how I am to have a blast with this card exactly?
Even Renounce Darkness gives you access to wild cards when meming on your opponent. This card might as well read; "Change the format to standard (But only for you LULGIGGLE!)"

The easiest solution for you is to simply jump off your “wild only” attitude and play him in standard. There you likely will also be at a rank to get a good amount of wins. Or simply play standard casual.
"smh. Turn every fucking post into a discussion on card power level and ignore the OP. Some people actually play this game for fun. You don't need to hijack every thread into your own meta prediction garbage."
@Remster Exactly right.
I mean, it's not like people care that the game is supposed to be fun or anything. I see, CONSTANTLY, when a new expansion drops, all the bottom feeders come out and complain that they need to know what's meta, and then when a decent to good deck gets posted, they all hop on that deck. Then they hop on the next meta deck, and they keep doing this, because they will never make their own deck and they will never be good at piloting and mastering their own work. Never ceases to amaze me the number of people that leech off of others just to feel comfortable enough to play. The worst part of this is it seems that this is what the average user is like on this site, and that really pisses me off because I'd rather not think of people so poorly, but they bring that out of me with ease.

If you have a bunch of cards you want to be playing with, you shouldn’t be using this card.
"Hey guys this card doesn't seem like it would be fun in wild due to how the deck recipes work"
"Doesn't matter cause this card isn't a competitive viable card"
smh. Turn every fucking post into a discussion on card power level and ignore the OP. Some people actually play this game for fun. You don't need to hijack every thread into your own meta prediction garbage.
Except the starting point was someone claiming that the decks will not be competitive in Wild. Of corse they won’t, the decks won’t be competitive in Wild or standard. that isn’t the point of the card.
Show me in the thread where that point is made.
The only way that the deck recipes are useless in Wild is that they would suck horribly.
This card is just dust. Completely useless cos the Standard recipe decks are badly constructed and weak. If I opened this card, I'm dusting it straight away.
This card is only just for fun and I think it is a great card because it allows you to play 18 different decks at random. My main issue with the argument that the card would be too weak in wild because the deck recipes would suck in wild is that If you are a hyper competitive player, than you would still never play this card even if the deck recipes were also strong enough for wild because you will always play with a random deck. Which is why the complaining is pointless!
Seriously its just one card, if you are a very competitive wild player then you would still never use it even if the deck recipes were strong enough for wild. Personally I think it is probably one of the most wackiest cards I have seen in hearthstone and imagine the satisfaction of managing to beat down a typical meta deck with this card.

I think you're missing the point. For a mere 1600 dust, any new player can play a wide variety of decks with powerful/fun cards in them. Those decks are probably not very powerful on ladder in Standard or Wild, but they are playable in both formats and feature exciting cards which might be too expensive for new players to craft.
You're right that it would be too hard to have Blizzard provide Wild deck recipes because of the sheer variety of decks available in Wild, but I think you've missed the mark by implying that this card is not "nearly useless" in Standard and decrying an unfair treatment of Wild. This card is a very weak card (I mean, honestly, have you ever seen an earnest Dragon/Emeriss Hunter on ladder?), but it succeeds in its design to give new players a very inexpensive way to experience a lot more of the game.
This is a legendary they should give away like they did Marin the Fox. Seems like fun and can really help new players, however it will never be competative.
Although I know it's supposed to be a fun card for new players with no collections, I hope that Blizz considers that some of them might want to start playing Wild and this would be a great way to slowly get them introduced to more cards from Wild. This is also a great card for returning players without much in the way of a standard collection, but who still want to be able to play, and letting them have access to fun, nostalgic Wild cards would be a great idea too. Blizzard said that they wanted to push Wild more this year, so I hope that they stick true to that with Whizbang.
the only problem with whizbang is that he isn't part of the classic set, whizbang will serve as a "sampler" card until 2020 by allowing people to try some of the legendaries and epics of the new expansions without having to spend a lot of dust on those cards, in an environement where those decks can still steal some wins here and there, but after that he will probably become the most obsolete card in hearthstone since the deck recipes' power level is way lower than any wild deck's power level

At the opposite, I will insta-craft it if I don't get it in packs. It will allow me to test decks before crafting one that enjoy me playing it.
Lol! Another post about a fun card being “not competitive!” Who the fuck cares? 99% aren’t really that competitive (in terms of skill) so fun is the best route. Simply playing a golden deck seems worth it to me. The deck recipes aren’t complete garbage. And if you have any skill you can easily get to 10 and maybe 5 win them with persistence. It’s not Optimizestone. New players should stay away from advice about crafting ONE aggro deck and play nothing else to stay F2P. This game has tons more to offer.
And they replace at least 1 recipe per class per expansion. A perfect way to play with cards before crafting then.
„well, the problem with this card is that [I AM] a wild player..“ come on man..
this is the ultimate meme card. it‘s fun, it‘s great for new players that don‘t have all the cards. they can learn to play the game thru understanding the decks going thru the deck recepies. they can play the decks without crafting all the cards.
believe it or not, there are still people that are playing the game for the sake of fun. (mind - blown)
the complaints are so effin annoying. also most complaints probably are coming from guys that are playing odd pali/rogue and zoolock anyway..

Come visit my Card Emporium. Strange things, you will find inside...
Come take the test, if you're daring. Feel free to show me your results in a message.

Thankyou. Too many try hardx here

Without knowing the decklist you're at a huge disadvantage even if it's an awesome deck.

Day one craft for sure.
Recepies are not that bad. Not godlike thier, but playable.
Where shall I start...
This. I’ve gotten to 5 win some in the last expansions.
the most overlooked thing is being able to play new cards before crafting.
