So I was lucky enough to pull a single Gluttonous Ooze when I opened Un'Goro packs. Now that I got my free gift pack from Blizzard, and pulled a Harrison Jones; I am left in a predicament.
You see, I think that all of my decks (especially since I play a lot more control than aggro) should have weapon destruction. Even though weapons are not super relevant right now, it helps to kill the old Shadowmourne and Grave Vengeance. The question is, which option is better? Gluttonous Ooze or Harrison Jones? We could also throw in Acidic Swamp Ooze if we wanted to be technically, but the other 2 options completely power creep the OG Ooze.
I would always vouch for gluttonous ooze. He is cheaper, more efficient and provides you with healing which I consider to be superior to card-draw in an aggro metagame. Harrison jones was an extremely good pull though and he will be relevant again so just keep him in reserve for now :)

That's some good advice. I think the only deck I'll use Mr Jones in over Ooze is my C'Thun Priest...but only because I'm too lazy to change it.
Well, the best way to answer your question is to play lots of games and see which one works out better....why more people don't try this out and see for themselves, I'll never understand. But, you probably don't have the time/desire to playtest, so I'll give you my answer.
I'd take the Oozes over Harrison in this meta. He's a little to slow (since you would probably be playing him on turn 9 or 10 and he eats up half your mana) and claims a valuable slot for 5-mana (looking at Leeroy, Elise, Cobalt Scalebane, and almost all classes have valuable 5-drops). Versus on turn 10, you could play an Ooze and then buff it with a Bonemare.
Unless your deck really needs draw, I'd stick with the Oozes.

I have used both in decks extensively, and that experience has led me to believe that Gluttonous Ooze is better 99% of the time. As others have pointed out, Harrison is just too slow for this meta. Also, when you're playing control decks, Harrison will often put you in an awkward situation where playing him means milling yourself.
I don't think there is a definitive answer to which is better as which is better depends on the deck and the surrounding meta. One thing to think about is what is going to fit better in the deck as a whole. if your deck is lacking a 3 drop then ooze is obviously better, and if your deck is lacking a 5 drop then harrison might be better. Ultimately it is best to try them both out and see which works better.

Or perhaps maybe...just maybe, I am not able to playtest Mr Jones right now due to circumstances that require more attention that testing Harrison Jones; and would like to have a starting idea of what people think of him right now. Kinda feel like you're insulting me right now with that remark, and no matter what your intention, it came off as quite rude.
My apologies. I definitely did not intend for it to be an insult, and my comment was intended to mean that everyone could say Ooze to you, but Harrison still could be better in the decks that you are running. Without seeing your full decks, it's tough to know if Ooze really would be better, which is why I said my best answer was just to "playtest".
But, I agree I could have said that more diplomatically, so again, my apology for sounding rude. But looks like you got your answer between the several replies on this thread. Go for the ooze and hopefully it works for you!

Ahhh, I understand. Apologies for going off at you. You do bring up a good point about playtesting that I ignored, and I will certainly experiment with it when I have the ample time. Until then, lettuce sea how the Ooze works!

Ooze seems more practical with the current meta. Correct me if incorrect, but current decks carrying weapons tend to mostly be in the 3-mana range. The potentially earlier usage of weapons appears more optimal for Ooze since there's a higher chance the weapon would've been used up by turn 5. Also, a 3/3 body isn't bad for 3-mana.
Definitely worth keeping Harrison for future uses, especially since he's part of the classic set he'll never rotate out.

You could copy and paste that as the preface to a reply to just about every comment in this forum. OP is looking for insight and advice. Glad you two worked it out though lol
IMHO stick with the ooze unless you need card draw especially in the mid to late game.

And I think since we worked it out, you really don't need to bring it up again.

But yeah, so far it's Ooze all the way.
Fair enough, it just really rubbed me the wrong way when I that read it.
Man, thanks to everyone for the good responses! So far it seems that Ooze is the correct choice. But I have been having success with both. So I guess I've just gotta start play-testing now.

So yeah, should I keep Gluttonous Ooze? Or should I replace all my copies with Harrison Jones? OR, maybe I could use BOTH Gluttonous Ooze AND Harrison Jones? Right now I'm leaning more towards Mr Jones, but I'm still indecisive.

When weapon meta is consisted mainly in aggro = Gluttonous Ooze
When its consisted mainly in control decks = Harrison Jones
Right now = Gluttonous Ooze

In Shaman evolve decks I'd use Harrison Jones rather than Ooze.
Jones is worse vs tempo decks.
However, if you are a tempo deck looking for more card draw Jones can be great!
