I never thought they'd print something so good. All I can say is: (hopefully) great job Blizz. Reminds me almost of Loatheb in that it is still valuable due to its body and also works against CW, Purify Priest, Lyra Priest, Earthen Scales in general, and while there are not many more current examples: people want to run 1-mana spells when they can so this card feels like it is always a say 1-of if you just really HATE Jade like I do :)
but this outright destroys Jade Druid which honestly was necessary for setting parameters in the meta.
no it was not necessary, if control shows up in the meta is comes back and kills it, Jade Druid is GARBAGE design, and it is good that it is in the trash can it deserves to be in.
Many people voted meta-defining, but actually I find this card difficult to rate. Meaning: OK, it's great against jade druid, and can be good against a few other archetypes, but also will be bad against all the rest.
IMHO how much this will be played will depend on the shape the meta takes, i.e. how frequent will be the decks it's good against. On the other hand, this card's mere existence will contribute to shape the meta, so in that sense yes, it'll be meta-defining but not because it's OP or it'll be auto-include in every deck for months.
Guess we'll see some sort of hide-and-seek between decks including this and decks countered by this, at least for the first few weeks, or until an equilibrium is reached.
This is of course meta defining countering hard many meta decks, specially Jade Idol
Also I think should be a great card fo paladin buff in order to erase your small spells from your deck when your quest is done.
Some Jade druids maybe will add Nerubian Unraveler in order to counter this cards
You can't really counter Geist since it destroy's 1 mana costed spells in hands and decks. Unraveler just raises the cost you need to pay when you want to play a spell.

I find Skulking Geist kinda destructive. The more Evolve and Jade Druid are on ladder the more people will play Geist and will also hit other decks with it. But at the same time I firmly believe seeing so many Shaman and Druids it is ok to run Geist to stop that train. There is nothing more annoying than losing against the same mechanic again and again.
I am definitely placing 2 Geists in many decks. The body isn't that bad and 4 attack is annoying against Priest. The body and effect might look weak at first glance, but when you stop snowballed Evolve minions and Jade synergy, it might be worth it after all.
Just the existence of the card makes a difference. This card might also act as a deck thining card for control decks that rely on tempo instead of fatigue, like handlock or dragon priest, although handlock doesnt really need a counter to jade druid, it fairs really well against jades. Good tech card for certain decks.
Don't kid yourselves. Jade druid will survive this. They can still summon at least as many golems as jade shaman, and if it wasn't for rogues copy and bounce shenanigans, two more than rogue.
This is still a strong card however. MUCH stronger than Gnomeferatu, since you actually destroy more than one card with it against many decks, if you are willing to sacrifice some one drops yourself. Not to mention it is directed and not RNG.
With the new rogue hero that seems best with jades and the elemental tag on jade spirit being more useful for jade than shaman, I feel like rogue might become top dog when pure jades are concerned. And that excites me A LOT, since I find that deck to be actually fun to play.
I main Control mage so this cards really doesn't effect me, but this card is so very wrong. Way too broken and basically ruins a lot of archetypes. I'm sure there's some interesting mechanics that you can play into with your own deck, but this outright destroys Jade Druid which honestly was necessary for setting parameters in the meta. It also kills a lot of priest cards as well as evolve shaman. One of the most broken cards ever introduced...
Listen to this guy here, meta master talk with parameters. Control won't be out of control because jade is gone, it wasn't always here and control was fine. Now you'll see less of that shit and more of everything else. Sounds excellent.
I hate that this card is meant to punish Jade Druids but is hurting Miracle Rogue as well. :(
Of course. But that is also kind of what I like about it. This isn't just a card that says "remove all Jade idols from the game", it is a lot more elegant than that. It actually counters a variety of current and future decks while also fitting an archetype on its own. Fatigue/ Mill. Which, with so many deathrattles that shuffle stuff in your library/ N'zoth, and many new cards that shuffle things in your library, may finally get a chance to shine again after being completely killed.
Not sure if this will kill miracle rogue, but it's not like miracle rogues hasn't had many chances to shine in the past, and very likely will again. I wouldn't mind if rogue players had to come up with something new. I just hope it is good enough. But if that fabled control meta finally comes, I have a feeling jade rogue will have a good time. And quest rogue (yuck) might as well.
Meta defining for sure, but in a way I think is sort of terrible for the game. It defines the meta by effectively being a one-card counter to a few specific strategies. Trying for Inner Fire shennanigens? Too bad, you queued into the wrong deck. Leroy Miracle? Nope, Cold Bloods don't exist anymore. Leroy, Power Overwhelming, Faceless combo? Nope, out of the Hall of Fame and into the fire with you. Jade Druid is actually a lot less damaged by this, as it doesn't leave them completely bereft of options even if it takes away their ability to go infinite (which was always more an Auctioneer problem that an Idol problem in my book).
The card just feels like the most hamfisted and crude nerf to a card type that, admittedly, has sometimes felt a bit out of balance, but the fact that it can completely invalidate whole strategies on it's own feels awful, especially if you're in the game for wacky combos and the like. No one will feel anything but completely disheartened when they're on the receiving end of this, because there's literally nothing you can do other than not play the deck you're playing, and that doesn't feel like the sort of design I think benefits Hearthstone as a whole. I just don't think tech cards should have such a capacity to completely ruin another player's gameplan (I'm not against some level of interference, but this is a step too far I feel).
TL;DR, this is no clever, artful tech, no Loatheb. I think I hate it.
This is literally the point of tech cards. If someone puts in the tech card, they gain advantages against certain decks. You can still win regardless, but it gets harder. The same way it was hard for control decks to beat Jade Druid. It provides ways to discourage certain decks. Once people stop playing them, the tech cards will stop being played for more useful cards. Then those decks come back. Good tech cards are actually a way to help the meta develop. THESE are the cards that are REALLY meta-defining.

Nice counter to Explore Un'Goro warrior.
All cards are balanced, but some cards are more balanced than others.
What I like about this is that we will most certainly more control diversity in the meta as well as less pirate warriors, since they feed on jades.
Also mindgames: less jades = less geists = more jades = more geist.
Actually I love the design.
Occasionally gives helpful advice.

@pihp
read it again.
dust it and burn it with fire

I welcome the idea of countering jade idol, but this feels more like an axe rather than a scalpel
Note you do not play this in every single deck. You play it only in slow mid-range & control decks that auto lost to Jade druid.
