The would never move a Basic Card to HOF. These are cards given free to every new player. You can’t HOF something that from blizzards point of view would HAVE to be part of standard. Nerf maybe but never HOF.
Wild Growth is not only a basic it’s pretty much the card that defines one of Druids class identities. No.
Sea Giant - it doesn’t really fit the criteria. It’s not a card that sees a huge amount of play. Doesn’t really restrict design going forward. Isn’t a go to card for certain archetypes and doesn’t push other similar cards out of the meta. No
Ice Block, God I hope so. Fits a lot of what HOF criteria should be. Yes
Gadgetzan Auctioneer, for sure. Should have gone last time. Evergreen card draw mechanic and restricts spell design based on cost. Yes.
sorcerer’s apprentice, I see the logic there, evergreen card reduction would continue to be an issue with Antonidas, but don’t see them doing this over Ice block first. Makes you realise how many potentially problematic evergreen cards Mage actually has. Maybe.
Divine Favor - again see the issue, evergreen go to card for aggro, but no don’t think this will go. Maybe.
Alexstrasza - Maybe I have always seen her as too much of a go to for combo/burst styles. Potentially Pushes other similar cards out. Has potential to be moved to HOF. Maybe.
They cannot move Basic/Classic class cards to Hall of Fame, at least not like one card for like only 2 classes or smth, they have to keep Basic and Classic class sets even for all classes, so they will have to either replace those cards to keep the same amount of cards in said sets for each class, or remove a card from each class. Highly doubt the latter scenario would happen, since it would also include changing the lvl-up rewards of basic cards on new accounts etc.
Havent seen anyone who discuss these potential HoF candidates take this into consideration at all. Not only that, remove Ice Block and you either have to give mage new Classic epic card, or remove one epic card from each class. This just lacks all logic. I dont understand how can ppl even suggest things like these. If anything, these cards will at best get the same treatment as Fiery War Axe or Hex did. Tho obviously Ice Block cannot get a simple cost increase.
While I also don't believe that they will move Basic Cards to HoF (they already showed that they will simply nerf them instead), they also prooved that they have no issues with moving classic class Cards to HoF ( Ice Lance , Power Overwhelming ).
And as far as I know, they strongly indicated that Ice Block is moved in the upcoming Rotation.
All the rest of Kripp's suggestions seem just BS to me. These Cards are neither a Problem nor staples in all decks.
Yes, very true. I have realized my error and reduced what i said to only Basic set ;-)
Why (the fuck) would they move Sea Giant to the hall? Card never saw that much play.
My prediction (and hope) is that they remove a card from Warrior, Shaman, Hunter, Priest, Druid and Paladin before touching anything more from rogue, mage and warlock. Balance the amount of card choices and all that. Messing with nigh-class-specific neutrals to the likes of Auctioneer counts as well, without that card the rogue identity of drawing their entire deck is out of the window, might as well give them board clears at that point. We wouldn't want that.
So ; Let's Move Northshire Cleric, Animal Companion, Armorsmith, Flametongue Totem, Divine Favor and Swipe. Those cards are too common in the class decks, restricting "future card design".. bla bla bla.. whatever reason was used for conceal, ice lance and power overwhelming.
He may be right about the sea giant... not because it's currently good, but one way to switch up the meta in the coming expansion would be to create more broad many minion boards.. depending on the power level keeping sea giant in standard may be a "design restriction" that they don't want... and create too swingy games.

Classic zoo used to play Sea Giant a lot, so you are wrong - it's a card the punishes opponents for playing minions and potentially could come back. We lack a card in standard right now like Imp gang boss or implosion.
Not only that, remove Ice Block and you either have to give mage new Classic epic card, or remove one epic card from each class.
This seems to me like a misunderstanding of how the Hall of Fame is being used. Conceal, Power Overwhelming, and Ice Lance all moved - nothing came in to take their places, and nothing was removed from the other classes. The fact that it's an epic card doesn't meaningfully differentiate it from those other classes cards - the counts still end up lopsided, and Blizzard has shown that it cares more about game balance than an even distribution of class cards across classic and the hall of fame (which I think is a good decision).

Yup, all true. Guess my edit didnt go through before, i limited what i said to only Basic set.
Dev team is gonna screw up and either push a lot of players into Wild, or just out of the game period. They "fix" cards that aren't broke, but leave broken shit in the game for 6+ months.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
I wanna glide down, over Mulholland I wanna write her, name in the sky I wanna free fall, out into nothin' Gonna leave this, world for awhile
I really wish the they'd consider rotating cards from other old sets into the classic set and make the whole thing more fluid and rotations more regular. Just cause they roate Ice Block for now, doesn't mean it can't come back later.
Oh damn.. I am so tired of these game desiiigners in team 5.. what do we need to delete to print more corridor creepers and useless legendaries?
Stupid jade druid mechanics killing every control deck? Fun and interactive. But wild growth is fuckin problematic for them.
Pirate warrior from the other side, allinyaface - nice idea! But Fiery war axe is a problem (cause you aint craft it?).
Always like that. Shaman with tunnel trogg and totem golems? Fine, we will nerf hex a bit later!
Year per year it seems to be more and more moneysucking game with the creative impotency. I am always excited with the reveals and new things but later.. like how many quests and DKs (except Razanduin) you see in your last 100 games?
I fuckin love this game. Hope that Artifact will make Blizzard move to something, gwent and tesl couldnt.
P.S. the beginning of Ungoro was the best period of HS ladder I ve ever seen.
I wouldn't necessarily rely on Kripp when it comes to predictions. the guy is pretty spot on when it comes to Arena, but he always has some questionable opinions about Standard.
For example, it would be absurd to nerf/remove Wild Growth. NOt only is ramping a huge part of Druid's identity (and one of the reason why Druid is deliberately not giving great boardclears or hard removals) but ramping is balanced by the fact that it's the most anti-tempo play you can possibly think of. It's kind of a reverse overload, where you spend 2-mana doing nothing to get a slight tempo-boost for the rest of the game.
The strength of ramp is always directly influenced by how many ramp cards there are in the meta. That's why Druid was so bonkers during KoFT. Jade Druid ran two copies of a total of 4 ramp cards, which, combined with the raw power of Ultimate Infestation and the defensive boost from Spreading Plague made them incredibly snowbally.
Half of Druid's current viable ramp will rotate and the class isn't even doing that well at the moment, mainly because so many decks run big tempo swings which is something a deck that would like you to do nothing for most of the early turns just doesn't deal with all that well. Hell, jade Druid would literally be unplayable if it wasn't for Spreading Plague giving you a bit more time to develop a board to fight back with.
That being said, Kripp overestimates Blizzard's foresight. They almost never touched cards that could be problematic in the long run. For the most part they jsut target things that affect the meta at hand (like Yogg and pirate nerfs) or cards that conflict with designs they already have planned out for future expansions (Blade Flurry would probably fit in here and while I don't think they knew they would print exactly Kingsbane at that point, they must have considered a way for Rogue to maximize weapon buff value)
So in the end Blizzard will only ever rotate stuff like Sea Giant or Sorcerer's Apprentice if they want to try out a card design that would be too powerful with those cards still in play. For that very same reason cards like Carnivorous Cube and Voidlord have been printed in the last expansion of the year. Because N'zoth the Corruptor is going to rotate soon, which means they won't be forced to nerf the new cards should they turn out to be a bit too dominating with N'zoth (which didn't actually happen.
I'm just surprised how he doesn't evne consider Doomguard seeing how that card could potentially mean that after rotation Cubelock is the single best meta deck.
I think these are more about opening up 'design space.' With Stonetusk Boar, you have to watch with any minion buffs you make, because it basically puts that buff on legs with charge for 1 more mana. With Inner Fire you have to be careful anytime you give a minion too much health. Maybe they want to consider making a 10 mana 0/30 taunt minion. Inner Fire turns that into an OTK combo.
I understand why kripp makes videos like this (to make money), but I don't understand why people view people like him as authorities on the game. It's like asking a celebrity actor their opinion on politics - that's not what they are an expert on. Kripp is just a character he plays who happens to be decent at arena. When he's commenting on what cards should be retired from standard it shouldn't be treated more seriously than just another post on hearthpwn - another player's opinion.
If it was a video from say a recent world champion then maybe it would have more weight. Kripp isn't a nobody but he isn't an expert on standard and his opinion means very little.
It looks suspiciously like a list of cards that he's annoyed about losing to in arena, and sorceror's apprentice. (EDIT: and Ice Block, which blows donkeys in arena).
I mean, Sea Giant? Really? That card was used in evolve shaman for a bit in KFT and Un'goro, and previously in zoolock, but is barely used now.
Everyone seemingly hates Ice Block (personally do too). Sorcerer's Apprentice, Divine Favor and Wild Growth won't rotate. Sea Giant also doesn't prove to be too problematic at this point in time, even in Wild mode it's not too big with all the swarming decks.
I believe that Ice Block will rotate out due to the communities hate for it. Not too sure otherwise.
I think the only usefull rotation is rotate whole classic/basic set out of standart...
The problem is classic set is already badly balanced and its realy problematic to keep a broken body in game for all eternity as a base for a cardgame.

My own honourable “Maybe” mentions are...
Leeroy Jenkins - evergreen neutral burst.
Doomguard - strong charge, problematic when cheated out to avoid its battlecry.
Malygos - in Evergreen Spell burst/OTK potential
Very outside change.
Ysera - strong go to late game option.

Can someone tl;dr what Kripp said. I don't watch him, and I don't see a summary or link in the OP.

I tried having fun once. It was awful.
Kripp's understanding of Blizzard's design philosophy is shaky at best.
The majority of everything he says on YouTube is calculated to generate controversy and score more views.

Blizzard cannot and will not send any basic cards to the hof because it would devastate new players.
