The only Witchwood cards I generally see, and are in the top meta decks, are Genn and Baku. Is this a failed expansion? More like a small update with two new cards.
Just cuz WW didn't take over the new meta doesn't mean it's a failed expansion. I do think that WW should have helped shaman and warrior a bit more, but can you imagine if WW cards become common in warlock, paladin, and mage decks? The recent expansions have made them so powerful, that if they had new cards, that would only mean they became more powerful. Blizzard made the decision to "reset" the power level with the new rotation rather than keep up the powercreep with every expansion, and the reason that hasn't been felt is due to the power of KFT and K&C cards.
If we see nerfs to the most powerful archetypes, we can hope that WW cards may actually enter the meta.
Yeah, I feel like KnC was such a high power level, especially for warlock. But everyone is just playing cards from last year (death knights, lackey/voidlord, tar creeper, spiteful summoner, sunkeeper tarim) and ignoring most of the new cards.
Sometimes even pally will use glass knight. Control warlock uses their legendary. There are a few others. Hopefully the next set will take more risks as it will not be in standard as long.
The prophecy came true! Now the community's doomsayers must call the upcoming expansions TGT 3.0 when being pessimistic!

Start of Year: Provoke the failure of 3 expansions, force nerfs on otherwise balanced cards, bring deckbuilding to an all-time low and get rotated one year earlier for being such a threat to the game's health. - Genn and Baku's historical entry on the White Book of Shit Design, shortly before retiring unpunished
Witchwood doesn't feel strong right now, but it did launch plenty of strong cards that just do not have the right support for them. Shudderwock is still a great card, whether it be some janky OTK with it or just using it as a control card, it could easily become dominant granted a certain meta or a certain card be printed. The same goes with Tess Greymane, if they make a card that helps control the RNG or that just isn't awful (other than Blink Fox) Tess can be a really strong card, just that the other cards are not able to support it. Another case of poor meta/supporting cards is with Houndmaster Shaw. If you land him against any board-centric deck like Even paladin, Odd Rogue, or anything of the sort and he is able to stick, he pretty much just wins you the game. However, the rest of Hunter is lacking in the cards to truly abuse this card. The same goes for Rush Warrior as a whole as the deck is able to do pretty well against a 'normal' deck (like a tier 2-3 deck) but just loses to Cubelock, Spiteful and other decks that abuse mechanics.
The problem isn't that the expansion released weak cards. Plenty of the cards would have seen played if this expansion was released when Un'goro was released. The issue is that most decks just have too many polarizing cards that prevent things like this from working. Why play a combo deck all based around playing cards and setting up a strong Shudderwock when instead you can play with yourself and kill your opponent before turn 10 with Quest Rogue. Why play a deck that requires thoughtful trading and playing around AoE with Houndmaster Shaw in a Midrange Hunter when instead you can mash the hero power button like a mad man in Odd or Even Paladin. The current top decks are too oppressive and refined for the most part to let other parts of the expansion shine through.

I don't have something witty about this deck, I just like it because Malygos is fun.
No, the 2 card expansion was TGT. I think, if I recall correctly, that nothing from there actually saw play besides Dr. 6 and Justicar. Maybe, maybe there were like...2 other cards.

Actually, make that three- Vicious Scalehide enables quest rogue.
I see witching hour. If it makes you feel any better?

If you only see two WitchWood cards, I'd like to know what game you're playing.
It isn't just the expansion that is failed. The game's failure is now realized as well. It was a great ride, but RIP.
Free to try and find a game, dealing cards for sorrow, cards for pain.
