So I just met this Roper on standard ladder at rank 6. Guy with the was playing midrange shaman and started to rope every turn on purpose after I countered his turn 1 coin totem golem with doomsayer and subsequently oozing his spirit claws (playing renolock).
Not particularly mad as I eventually won the game (after what seemed like a control warrior v control warrior game), but this did make me recall of another guy posting about how he encountered a rope player a few days ago. Personally, I rarely encounter players like this but I would like know how you guys think about these type of players. I would very much like to hear about your experiences with them and maybe we could figure out a thing or two about these players' motives for roping (maybe salty?).
It's no secret that people despise player that rope just to BM. But people are allowed to do what they want with the time allotted, sometimes it's just that they're multitasking. Or others actually do use their time to think for the best possible moves and plan ahead.
Also, it's not a good idea to post the ropers name here, since it's against the rules and all
Yeah, i'm aware of how some (professional) players tend to rope to think of the best play possible.
But i'm very positive the roper I encountered had no such intentions. He executed his plays quickly when it was his turn and waited for the rope to burn.
So you wasted time on ropes and now you wasted EVEN MORE time creating a pointless thread. Congratulations, very logical. On top of that you yourself waste time of people who actually read this as it provides absolutely nothing to the forum.
And you wasted YOUR time telling this guy he wasted so much of his time and also now you are wasting MY time making me point out all the time you have wasted.
To be honest, roping is my strategy against aggro decks. It makes them impatient and prone to make more mistakes, so you should seriously consider roping when playing against a lot of aggro as it will most likely make your opponent want to concede or just play fast.
A lot of players multitask while playinh hearthtstone is my guess, like watching twitch, youtube, or just doing stuff on their phone. But I dont know why you want to rope if you are salty because ist annoying for yourself to is my guess.
I multitask myself, but roping against aggro has improved my win rate as i have more time to think and they make more errors because they just want to rush through games

And you added so much value by taking everyone's time to add your all important useless opinion in a thread you just needed to post to and not be constructive... Why care or bother? Trolls be trolls I guess.

I don't consider educating people on how illogically they act having my time wasted. I actually consider it a well invested time to point out such stupidity.
You abuse the concept of education and have failed severely in your forum teaching aspirations. You should have have finished teachers college if this is what you plan to do with your life or at very least paid attention in high school.

it's not about wasting time it's about interacting with ppl he wants to interact and share with others congratulations u failed to be a human being as well
There is rope players but also slowpokes they really thinking all the time. When I am playing I think at opposite players turn and play really fast at my turn that is how you suppose to play the game I don't give them time to think at my turn as much as possible
Also, as you climb ladder - especially rank 5 and higher roping becomes common just from thinking through options. I've had games with agro vs agro where the game still lasted 20+ mins while each opponent thought through the play lines.
I agree rope burning on lethal is BM or even T1 when the opponents has no play or a 1 drop, there's is nothing to think about yet in almost all cases.
Whenever i meet a roper i just rope them too, then they get bored and stop.
Amen brother. I do the exact same thing. And find something to watch on tv or something while I do it. Usually they stop. If not, I've wasted a chunk of their day (yes I know my time is wasted as well, but there is nothing as satisfying as making the salter salty).

Thank you for tuning in to my mini-rant.
Hello. Have a nice day.
Ooops, removed. Thank you for your reminder.

Hate this kind of people with a passion.

When you have cw mirror nobody has to rope, both of you know you're committed to the other for the next half hour xD
Nozdormu :p

They have 90 seconds to play their turn. If roping got in your head and caused a misplay, it was the right thing to do.
That's not even BM that's just being competitive.
For the record I hate when people rope me like this but it's really only BM if they do it when they have lethal.
