Popularity won't carry you in a tournament.

Exactly why I didn't join all the NA sheep who picked Dog. His play was weak in playoffs and I felt like he just beat up on a field or more sub-par opponents. A83650. Picked this guy from his performance in the EU playoffs.

Yeah I'm not really sure why people feel hunter is in a bad position. Right now I'd argue our midrange deck options are way more viable than previous hunter decks. Our beast and deathrattle synergy is amazing right now. The higher cost to craft a mid range deck as others have mentioned, one reason you won't see a ton of hunters right now. Also, I think there is a stigma right now that hunter class is weak since face has been nerfed heavily, and previous people who played face hunter, can't really figure out how to play anything else in the class effectively.

I don't have problems with any matchup right now. N'zoth pally is probably the hardest to counter due to the board clear options they have, but I feel we are just as equal in power to any other deck being run right now. This is also the reason I run an N'zoth as it gives up late game competitive options. The hunters running no N'zoth are probably wondering why they can't close games or run out of steam.

    Adapt or die.

Would definitely get rid of Summoner and Wrangler personally.. Not really sure what I'd actually change/add though tbh..

Twilight Summoner has been OK in some games, for more consistency you could run Harvest Golem for a deathrattle option or a 2nd Carrion Grub for a beast option. This is assuming you run Huge Toad otherwise you could fit that in as well.

    Definitely looks interesting :)

Personally I think N'zoth is way too slow for Hunter (and Rogue) making lose to Aggro decks more often, but at least it's fun!

I thought the same thing, and while aggro can give you a headache at times, the deck is really resilient to them with early minions and powershot/explosive shot. Hunter's Mark can take care of pesky Darkshire Councilman and Flamewreathed Faceless.
N'Zoth is a slow card, but the power of hunter's late game through Call of the Wild is where you will find most of your wins. Which means games will typically go to turn 10 with you losing on average 2-3 deathrattle minions if not more.

Interesting deck and card choices. I would love to hear how well On the Hunt has been doing for you. I guess my school of thought is 2 fold right now. One, I wanted to get away from the Knife Juggler combo and build something I believe would have some strong late game presence. I guess the 2nd being worried about drawing into cards late like KJ or OTH and them not having any impact on the board state if I'm behind. I see your point with Tundra Rhino and I guess he would replace my Ram Wrangler, but I just love dropping RW on curve for a tempo play even if the minion isn't the greatest. The addition of Infested Wolf and Fiery Bat makes your chances of not hitting a bad beast go up significantly.

All in all this deck is a lot of personal choices, and if I try to make an earnest push for legend I think I will make some of the changes you suggested. Thanks again for the feedback!

King's Elekk as the only card draw in the deck ? No Knife Juggler, only one UTH ? No Sylvanas Windrunner ? No Huge Toad ? No Tundra Rhino ?

double Bestial Wrath + double Hunter's Mark and no card draw ? I find it hard to believe that 78% win rate, your deck is extremely inconsistent by design.

In the end, you don't run the best beasts nor the best deathrattles, how is this a N'zoth beast deck ?

I agree that Princess Huhuran feels "meh" and there's no room for meh cards in beast hunter. I removed it from the deck, even in Wild it kinda sucks.

Hey Tictactucroc thanks for the reply and feedback. Not sure if you have given the deck a shot yet, but I can assure you this deck is anything but inconsistent. As of right now I have 42 games with the current list with a record of 33-9(76% win rate). Granted this started at rank 14, took me to rank 7 last night of season, and a few more games in the new season.
If I wanted to run a true N'Zoth deathrattle deck I would have included huge toads, but I have come to see you don't really need much more deathrattle minions than I currently run to make an impact if you get the chance to drop him on 10. Right now with the amount of early game board control, I don't lose the joust on King's Elekk as much as you think. I attribute this mostly to the majority of C'thun decks running around right now. The lack of card draw has always been a hunter crux, and I don't really see this changing anytime soon. Where the deck doesn't fall behind on draw is when you get your Jeweled Scarab. This card is huge in curving nicely into turn 3 or pulling out a card to save your ass in the late game like UTH or KC.
Again, I can't stress enough how well Bestial Wrath performs right now. I also run double Hunter's Mark since its low cost removal, and synergizes very well with Explosive Shot and Powershot. I don't see where I could realistically fit in Tundra Rhino. Possibly for Ram Wrangler but if I'm dropping these as a one of on turn 5, I'd prefer the chance of getting a huge swing with wrangler.
I do agree that Princess Huhuran is probably going to get swapped out for Sylvanas Windrunner but I wanted to give her an honest shot. Huhu has provided some pretty big board swings with proc'ing on Infested Wolf or Savannah Highmane and then following up next turn with a Call of the Wild.
Thanks so far for the feedback and response!

Hey DarkTycon. For Freeze mage i would sub out the Explosive Shot as I would not want to sub out a minion for Flare. I did run up against a freeze mage and I was able to overpower them with Call of the Wild twice before they had enough burn. If you find you like Explosive in your deck, then I would say Princess Huhuran would be an alternative especially if you do not own her. She's not critical to the deck.

As a side note, this deck performs really well against both shaman variants on ladder right now, something everyone is complaining about. My only loss against shaman in about 10 games was drawing into all spells and no minion before turn 5.

Please let me know how this decks works for those willing to give it a try!

As a quick update with the end of the season. I went 25-7(78% win rate) with this deck from rank 14 to rank 7. Found priest to be the hardest matchup if my early game was weak. Probably going to swap Huhu for Sylvanas after a bit more testing because sometimes hitting your infested wolf or highmane later in the game sets up a follow up CotW for huge damage or trades.

Twilight summoner has also been working fairly well as a one of right now. It still forces your opponent to make an awkward trade or spend 2 mana to HP to pop it, and then spend more removal on the 5/5. Anyways, more to come...402 wins we're on the home stretch :)

Hey all. Well like many before me, this is my first foray into writing up a deck of my own creation that I have come into great success so far with the introduction of WotoG. I wanted to share my list with other hunters who may be looking for something to climb the ladder with at any level. I created this deck day 1 of patch and have only swapped out 1 card so far and this has taken me from rank 14 to rank 8 in 20 games with a record(so far) of 15-5 starting off at 8-0. While I understand the sample size is not huge, the deck is performed remarkably well and is a blast to play with some amazing late game comeback power. Here is the list so far.

    Midrange N'Zoth
Export to BBCode Export to Cockatrice Export to MarkDown Export to Html Clone this deck
    Minion (17) Ability (13)
    Loading Collection

I will admit there is a lot of room for card swapping in my current list, but I will also say every card in this deck has seen the board, and has had a major impact on my games. So far my only "meh" card when I do draw it has been Princess Huhuran as I struggle to find a decent time to trigger another worthy battlecry, or even have one present when shes in hand. I'll go over some of my choices and what I have experienced as some of the stronger cards for hunter so far.

    N'Zoth, the Corruptor - MVP

N'Zoth is an absolute monster when he hits the board unless you are incredibly unlucky in your draws of the key deathrattle minions in this deck. Before I saw hunters full list and N'Zoth was revealed, this was going to be the guy I built around. I don't treat any game like I need him to win, though he is an absolute late game win condition(much like most of our old gods) that hunters lacked previously. The only thing lacking is the omission of any taunt deathrattle minions in the deck which either are too weak in stats for their cost, or don't have a beast tag.

With Jeweled Scarab and Ram Wrangler in the deck you sometimes can hit other deathrattle minions to fuel the late game N'Zoth bomb. So while the deck is not a pure deathrattle, it has enough to give you punishing board presence when your old god comes down.

Call of the Wild - MVP

This card does not need an introduction at all. This is exactly what hunters needed as a late game option. I loved trying to get Gahz'rilla and King Krush to work in previous decks and was always disappointed by hunters lack of good end game in class legendaries. This card has probably won me almost every game I have played that wasn't me dropping N'Zoth for a comeback win. It's freaking insane. The only downside is that it gets crushed by Flamestrike but at least you know when you need to play around it. This late game addition was sorely needed as a high cost threat hunters currently lack in class.

Some additional notes about other newer cards:

    Infested Wolf

The new 4 drop has been performing well as while the body stats at 3/3 may seem weak, even when destroyed it almost always sets up for a follow up Houndmaster when killed. I also included 1 Carrion Grub to help smooth out the curve and give more targets for Houndmaster. I have found that (in my opinion)our turns 3-5 are most critical in not letting the board get out of hand for our opponents. Having a bigger version of haunted creeper that leaves beast minions just has so much synergy in this deck. Which leads me to me next card.

    Bestial Wrath

Yup, while I understand this is not a "new" card, it sure feels like it since this card has never really seen play and performed way above expectations. I originally had this as a 1 of with Giant Sand Worm to try out the dream combo, and while yes I did manage to pull it off 1 time, the worm was usually just a dead card. I went to 2 copies of this and have not regretted it since. Turn 1 Firebat, and opponent drops turn 2 Totem Golem? Yeah game over with this in hand. This card turns your little beast tokens into useful removal options. It always ends up creating huge board swings due to the immunity. Right now it has been a really good option against aggro locks Darkshire Councilman due to the 5 health being somewhat annoying to hit with no on board buffs like Leokk.

To wrap up my initial thoughts on some other optional cards I'm running, I'll briefly go over why I included them, and how I feel they are doing so far.

Twilight Summoner - Mixed feeling on this. Its very powerful right now with the lack of silences running around, and your opponent almost always has to trade into it unfavorably. I wanted another 4 drop deathrattle with more impact than Infested Tauren though if I was to replace it, it would probably be with the tauren as taunts are always welcome.

Explosive Shot - Has been huge in a lot of games since I added this card late. It can sit in your hand for awhile too. Mixed bag here. I could see Harvest Golem replacing this for more early board control. It does combo extremely well with Hunter's Mark though. Same goes for Powershot. I can't stress enough how critical it feels getting multiple trade value out of a single card right now is.

Ram Wrangler - Well, lol this guy has actually been really sick as a 1 of in this deck. No captain's parrots yet friends! To be fair I've been pretty lucky with him, but running 1 in this deck feel just right especially when you curve from carrion grub-->Infested Wolf-->Ram Wrangler. It's very hard for your opponent to completely rid your board of a beast before he will come down.

Princess Huhuran - Sadly, the woes of competitive hunter legendary minions continues. Yes i have hit on Highmanes with this, but it still feels underwhelming for the cost. Shes a big body which is nice, but I think shes easily replaceable with Sylvanas Windrunner as she will probably end up having more impact.

That's about all i want to cover for this deck right now. I hope some of you give this deck a try and also give some feedback on changes you may think about doing, or have even tried and tested yourself. This deck feels powerful, and performs very well right now against most matchups. I have yet to drop a game to aggro or evolve shaman, reno and zoolock. You never feel like you are out of the game late with Call and N'Zoth. Give it a try and let me know what you guys think. Good luck!

Could also synergize with the new yet unreleased Deathwing Kibler will reveal eventually. I like this card, for an epic in a dragon inspired deck it could see some play. I would immediately play this over Volcanic Drake at a 6 mana dragon option for neutral.

I honestly cannot tell you how or why this deck works, but it just does. Im 13 of 14 games, I drew a turn 1 blood imp which definitely helped. The deck doesn't really have any early game unless my opponent is slower turns 2-4 and I'm able to lifetap to get better combo of cards, but its mid to late game is really where it wrecks people. I seemingly get every card I needed to handle that 1 situation that looks dire. In one instance, my opponent had 4 to 5 creatures on board all sitting at around 4/5 except for 1 novice engineer. Clearly I'm about to lose the game as I'm sitting at about 6 HP with only Jarraxxus in my hand as my sole minion. He has about 18 dmg on the table, so I Bane of Doom his engineer, which nets me an Infernal, to which I then proceed to Shadowflame to wipe his board. He has no play his next turn, I drop Jarraxxus and eventually win.

Situations like this happened a lot in the 14 games I played with it, and as i said before. I hope other people adopt this whacky yet hilarious way to build a deck and see where it takes you.

So for something fun on a slower day at work, we offered a buddy who has never played Hearhstone a challenge to create a new deck using our(myself and another work buddy who both play alot) cards he only thought looked interesting, and based from a hero who he thought had the coolest name. One thing to note, he has never played any ccg, and is nowhere as nerdy as we are. I piloted the deck with my friends laptop at work and he is a 2 star plat ranked player, I am a master level player. I apologize to anyone we played during the noon and 5pm cst hours that ran into the monster. This deck won 5 straight games including 2 turn 6 or less surrenders, and is now 10-4 with 3 total T6 or earlier surrenders.

    The Deck:

    Gul'dan@gmail.com
Export to BBCode Export to Cockatrice Export to MarkDown Export to Html Clone this deck
    Minion (15) Ability (14) Playable Hero (1)
    Loading Collection

He has watched us play a few games prior to this but his knowledge of mechanics is pretty much 0. All cards were chosen based on "what looked the coolest". I urge anyone to give this deck and or idea of making a deck a shot.
