Everyone always bitches. I spent money on this game a year after it came out. Since then I'll maybe drop 10 or 20 bucks here or there when a new expac comes out or the solo thing are something I really want/need for a certain deck. I've never felt like I had to spend the money though.
It was because I wanted to. If you want to play casually then you're def 100% in the clear. If you want to play arena, again, the barrier to entry is pretty low.
Yes, if you're new to a card game F2P maybe a bit of a tease. The difference between Hearthstone and any other competitive card game I've played is that I got to get well into Hearthstone, had a basic collection with a good chunk of classic cards before I decided to spend any money on it. And you can spend what you think you want to or what you think you need to.
Try to get into any other card game except poker with fake money and it'll gut your wallet. Hard. That said, I have some Pokemon cards for sale. And a lost holo Charizard. But have a book leaf of other holos too. Anyone? Please?
Yes, if you want to be serious about hearthstone you'll probably have to spend an initial investment of 40-60 if you don't want to grind anything out. If you want to just jump right in. After that though, you can dust expac to expac to keep a viable deck or two, that's what I did. Or you can grind it out a bit. Plus with the increased legendary drop rates now, the one real thing to complain about is probably gone.
That's another no card game offers. Lol, refunds on cards they nerf or change. And the ability to craft single cards. You'd never get your hands on a Patches in another card game without trading an equally impactful card to someone. They refund the cards they retire or nerf. They give out a ton of free cards. I've had like ten free packs the alst week. 5 are from the new expac. 5 were from classic, KFT, and KnC. Like that's pretty good. And I got a legendary out of it. One I'll probably dust and make an Ice block out of. And then get more free dust to be able to make a legendary I want, not need, from the new expac.
God, the game is free. It cost you literally nothing to download. Nothing, nada. How can you complain something you get free isn't good enough? If you dont like the cards, dont buy the packs. If you only like arena dont play standard. If you dont like the RNG, dont play the game.
Lol, some people apparently have higher standards than "lol itz 4 free". Like, idk, Starcraft 2 is for free, Dota 2 is for free, Fortnite and other shits are also f2p. Why should i praise HS for that?
On that note, it was actually a positive to me to find out that Artifact wouldn't be free.
You think Artifact players won't be bitching as much as people do here? Because its not F2P?
I agree with everyone saying constructive criticism is good. I just think that all the complaining, lately about Witchwood, isn't constructive at all. At least wait till you've seen the cards in action! If they suck, then complain. And i promise we see the RNG complaints about the game after the expansion has been around for a while. The one thing the developers LOVE is wacky interesting stuff with RNG. A lot of RNG is in the core of the game, but still people complain about it.
I understand what you're saying, but some cards don't need to be tested to know that they won't be able to beat old decks from the last meta. Take the rng fiesta cards rogue have been given. Are the fun and fit some of the theme of rogues being thieves? Sure, but there is no way a deck based on the limited rng thief cards that rogue will have will be able to out value cube and control lock (even with losing N'Zoth). Even if you managed to copy Gul'Dan with one of the thief cards the lock will still out value you. The other rogue cards don't form a cohesive enough theme to compete against warlock.
What I want to know is why rogues were almost completely designed around wacky rng effects, with few cards leftover for anything that was strong while warlock got consistent dependable cards that gave them another class aoe and a neutral legendary that can serve as tutor for at least two of the cards from their deck.
To answer your questions... they are passionate about the game. They want to see it in a better place. It is F2P but many people have invested money into the game and get frustrated and angry if they perceive the game as being unbalanced. I mean, this is a website where thousands of people visit everyday just to see what's new and discuss the game.
People make fan cards, they make suggestions, they spend hours guessing about the next expansion and try and decipher little clues by looking at promotional material.
When you care that much about something you are bound to have strong feelings about it, regardless of how much money you spend.
I've got an issue with a few decks myself but I'm nowhere near the point of being angry or threatening to quit. Just hoping we get some balance patches because I feel like a large part of my card collection has little chance to be successful.
God, the game is free. It cost you literally nothing to download. Nothing, nada. How can you complain something you get free isn't good enough? If you dont like the cards, dont buy the packs. If you only like arena dont play standard. If you dont like the RNG, dont play the game.
That is a wrong assessment Mr , not everyone comes from a first world country where data and internet connection is cheap/free Just thought I would put it out there for those who think the game is totally free for everybody.(eg of a free game?, Tic,Tac,Toe)
I dont know how much you pay for your internet, but if you pay a lot for mainly Hearthstone this post certainly isnt minded on you
Don't complain about your job unless you are a slave. You are getting paid for it!
Don't complain about your government unless you are getting executed on the public square. They are letting you live in their territory, aren't they?
Don't complain about your husband/wife unless you rightfully bought them as a slave. You don't own them, who are you to judge?
Never ever criticise anything. By chance, you might accidentally change something one day. And we certainly don't want THAT, right?
If you hate your job then quit. Life is too short to do something you dont like. If you cant find something better work on improving (studying etc) so you can find something in the future.
You literally pay taxes to live in a country...
I dont understand your wife/husband argument. You do not own them... And how can you compare a game to a marriage?
If you have read what I said, I do NOT condone on people whit constructive criticism. I just think that most of the complaints, is people bitching about them not getting lucky/getting super OP cards all the time. There is a difference between constructive criticism and saying the game is sh*t just because they would rather have some super OP cards every new expansion
Like eBay, you invest your time and benefit the game, even if you never buy a single thing. This influences the meta, provides opponents for paying players, and ultimately results in more sales, which is why they made it F2P in the first place.
I never spend time on eBay, so I dont fully get the reference, but I would argue you get your time investment back in "fun" immediately. If you dont think its fun you haven't lost anything but your time. That was in this case a bad investment, but it was your choice. I know Blizzard didn't make it free just to be nice, but when you get a free sample in a store you dont complain all over the world its bad. You say this is bad, I dont want to invest my money in this. Because it hasn't cost you anything. If you payed a lot of money for something and they didn't deliver (No Mans Sky is a popular example here) I would totally get why people complain.

More along the lines of it having a traditional CCG model, which I find very appealing. There will be complaints, but I'll feel they have more merit. I feel the promise of the Standard format, that in exchange for my continued investment there would be a "constantly fresh and changing" format, has yet to be fulfilled, and it's largely due to not being able to properly navigate around the free/low cost base the game is built upon.
There have been people complaining about the Hearthstone expansions since the expansions became a thing; does anyone remember Dr. 7? Be happy that people actually criticize the design decisions put into the game; if we don't tell Blizzard what's wrong, how can they fix it? Furthermore, whether or not the game is free is inconsequential to the dialogue as a whole; plenty of people spend money on this game just for packs, and they should have every right to complain
People like the OP that get on their knees and take whatever big daddy blizzard gives us are the reason they don't put more effort into improving the game. They know they have a legion of fanboys that will defend any move they make just because it's (in theory) free.
Blizzard runs a great business, but are awful at making games. They basically outright say that fun is not their goal, making money is. You can either play into their hands or not.
The game is free to play, but not quite free to play and have fun. I agree that the amount of crying out there is abnormal, but some complaints r valid. I wouldnt dismiss them all.
That is totally subjective and in my opinion especially questionable since you are an Arena Mod. Until OG I played a lot of Arena and didn't invest a single cent into the game. These days I preorder the expansions and mainly play constructed. I had a bigger part of the collection when I paid nothing and it probably was the time I played the game the most.
The game simply isn't free to have it all unless you are playing and enjoying a lot of arena and are very good at the game. Every f2p-player can build up a collection that allows him/her to play the top decks of the meta or to craft "fun to play" decks. You just can't have it all for free. Having fun with the game is totally up to yourselves though.
Yes, i agree that it's very subjective, but i on purpose didnt mention money as a form of payment, or rather the only form of payment. You either invest money or time. And as we all know: time is money, friend :) So in the end it is technically the same, even tho not rly.
And yes, you can play arena and have fun and not care about your collection, but you still need to be at least half decent, so you can afford to play it whenever you like or you will be subjected to wait for daily quests, farming the gold in constructed or just paying for the entry fee. And we r back at what i said. HS is very much free to play, but not quite free to play and have fun. But like i said, i agree this is subjective to every person, but there is some general consensus that can be drawn.

When you look at items on eBay, it increases the number of 'views' for that item. This can lead to a sense of urgency to obtain the item, driving up bids or pushing people to consider the 'buy it now' option, even if the 'lookers' never buy a single thing. Your argument about 'fun' as compensation is hollow - a person having 'fun' would not need to complain, now would they? The point is, that even F2P players contribute to the game and thus have a basis to present feedback about its quality and content.

I dont disagree with the feedback, but usually you test things before giving feedback. I also disagree with a lot whining about cards not being good enough or too op is feedback. I my mind its just bitching. At least give a reason why you think this is bad for the overall game
100% this OP.
