Secret Passage in my opinion is the best designed card in the last expansions. It is obviously a strong card, maybe also broken, but it allows the game to be more dynamic and less consistent, this is why I consider this card so good. It can be a frustrating card, especially when your opponent is able to find lethal with it. But I consider it a fair card also against decks based on heavy control cards.
In my opinion, it is also a very skilled card, regarding, the obvious uses in which it is not a skilled card, for example when your hand is empty; this card is skill intensive when it is used when you have cards in hand, but you are using it to make a better and consisted turn.
So, I know that many can disagree, but for me Secret Passage is the best and better designed card in the expansion with an whole new mechanic. I am very happy about this card.
I'm guessing you're a rogue main? Because I'm sure druid mains with OP win more cards like lightning bloom also think that card is the best designed card in the expansion. Just because a card helps you win more games, doesn't mean it is good for the game as a whole.
My favorite card ever probably, so skilled, many ways to use it.
Maybe the synergy with the rogue quest makes it even op, but apart from this I find it so balanced: even when I play against it, i never feel it as game-changing for my opponent (i mean, is not a card which wins alone) but always as a game-improving for him.

People also often forget that just because they don't like a particular card or find it frustrating, doesn't mean it is bad for the game as a whole.

The card make the game more dynamic and more consistent this is why is good.
Secret Passage is kinda just Evocation, isn't it? Not a criticism, just that it's not an entirely new card.
It's a two-per-deck card. More consistent because it's from your own deck (plus two copies), but the peak gets shaved off, because you can't highroll into answers you didn't put in your deck. I don't think it's original enough to be the best-designed card.

I think Hadidjah and her team... really are a great vfx artists! Mixed that with the other passionate game developers and we get an awesome looking game despite it quite being old now.
In your opinion it's a skilled card in the right situation but it's way too easy to abuse. Face Rogue can just vomit their whole hand and still have gas to kill you because of this card and Voracious Reader. I just watched a video of the streamer Zeddy where he played Guardian Animals on turn 2 (so much mana cheating...) and he still almost died to Face Rogue. The Rogue was really unlucky that Secret Passage didn't draw his second Eviscerate and Sinister Strike. It's just going to create all sorts of bad experiences. Drawing 5 cards for just 1 mana is ridiculous. Arcane Intellect sees a lot of play and it draws 2 cards for 3 mana. This card would still see play at 3 mana. It needs to be changed imo.
There's nothing skilled about it. The only decision you need to make is - does my hand have anything useful that I want to cast?
Yes - don't cast; No - cast. It really is that simple.
It's very simply an undercosted draw card with a quirk. I'm not saying it's stupidly OP or needs a nerf, just that it's not as clever as you think it is. It does make tracking look a bit pish tho...

How many skilled cards you know in Hearthstone? Every card is cast or not cast, this is not the point.
I personally remember Defile as skilled card (without mentioning Lord Godfrey that was so strong and easy to proc)
After Defile, Secret Passage is probably the most skilled card that we saw in Hearthstone. The right use can make you win or have you hand stuck and lose. But Secret Passage can also be used to push face and to be aggro when your hand is empty and, in this case, I agree with you that is not a skilled card. But when it is used to make a better turn, the right decision when it should be used is very skill based.
Has anyone tested what would happen if you play Secret Passage followed by a second one (assuming the second is drawn)?
Does that give you a "Draw 4 cards" for basically 2 mana? o.O
If you cast Secret Passage and after another Secret Passage, at the end of the turn your hand will be back to the original starting hand, so nothing will happen.
It's actually pretty good design, plus a great visual effect.
I think other people are discussing power levels over design too much... Right now it is definitely too strong, but OP has never mentioned anything this card as balanced, or he was just playing the game for fun.
I agree totally! I love this card. I love how it makes me think about cards to find with it to make my hand work. Do I need a stealth or just a steeldancer? It is much more than a reload card. I am still figuring out all the best ways of when to use this card. And it fits the whole play style of rogue, which I love too. This combined with great flavour and animations! I was worried though it would be too powerful, but it seems to be fine so far. It is strong but not oppressive. One of the most fun rogue cards!

Even if you were right, I would wait a bit more before making such statement. Or did you make this thread on a hurry to be the first one talking about this? :P

I'm obsessed with this card, the animation alone... woah.. thank you Team 5.

1 mana draw 5 is just cheating

Secret passage into evocation keeps you the card generated by evocation. Most likely a bug, but good to know if you run wand thief.
This :)

I like elementals and totems.

I make this thread because I like this card. Who cares if I am the first, the second or the third. You don't need to be always polemic.
Ok, I will try to stop (for a bit...), I promise! :P
