So we all know Blizzard wants to make money and that's fine . But this state of the game is getting ridiculous .
It seems the way team 5 balances cards and creates new expansions is intended only to make f2p players quit .
How are we suppose to continue playing this game when today's aggro decks include up to 6 legendary minions (Asmo rogue) ??! The only remotely accessible kinda competitive deck is face hunter and that gets boring really fast . All the other decks, even aggro require a lot of epic / legendary stuff .
I think something should be done in this regard but not sure what . What do you guys think ?
Idk man. Its been a year now of me being fully FTP and I'm doing fine and have a damn good collection. To give some perspective I average 2000 gold a month and always have gold and dust to spare at any given time. I think the system is fine as is and I have no intention of quitting nor do I feel like I'm being pushed out. I feel like there is always enough time between expansions for me to save up enough gold to be able to get what I need out of the next expansion.

While I have spent money on the adventures and such, I have been playing free for the past 8 or so months (I started the game a year ago) and it feels fine. I've always played Wild, however, so I get to keep the decks I craft, which is huge. I currently have 2 fully completed decks (Quartermaster Midrange and Malygos shaman), as well as several decks for which I need 1-3 cards to complete. I don't mind the notion of spending money on packs once in a while, but I feel like I'm quickly progressing in terms of obtaining the cards I want just from Quest gold, Tavern packs, and Arena. And what kind of aggro deck are you playing?? The max I've seen is 4-5 legendaries, and even that is if you craft Shaku, who isn't at all necessary. I think that all the free packs and shit that Blizz gives us is enough to keep the ball rolling, after a small initial investment (at least this has been my personal experience)
I think the problem is not only the top deck costs crazy amount of dust, but also it changes after every expansion / patch . For example for people that crafted jade druid it feels bad that now rogue and priest dominate .
From what I understood this is not a coincidence . This is their design philosophy - "People should play different decks every time" .
It's pretty clear everything they did this year was to discourage people from playing without investing a lot of money . the 3 expansion system and crazy OP new legendary are nice if you are a PRO player, but you are just a simple guy trying to have a little fun without getting stomped by every other deck out there you are out of luck .
It wasn't like that in the past . Adventures were great value and not that many legendary were actually great or mandatory at all .
I liked it when there were adventures. The cost was fairly inexpensive and gave every card. Every week the meta would evolve slowly as new wings were released. It was nice to get a break from purchasing so many packs to get a decent collection. Probably the main reason they don't do them anymore. $.$

You don't have to spend a dime to get competitive content. But you do either have to work to make money to buy it or work by grinding in HS to acquire it. Either way you have to work.
4) There are no events in order to find free gold/dust
Really? You mean to tell me there weren't events before the last expansion where I got free gold and packs. Or that last week I didn't get 100 free gold just for logging in on Talk Like A Pirate Day?
They need to keep printing more cards to keep the game fresh but they also need to make gold and dust more available, like double what it currently is, as since the standard rotation the game has roughly doubled in required resources, and blizzard knows it! - we need stuff like the frost/fire festivals way more often. Used to be whales ran golden decks, these days the whales are the only ones able to play quirky decks and craft off meta legendaries. Also, jesus christ do they need to overhaul arena rewards and make it vastly more attractive.

My questions for you are: 1.- Since when do you play HS? Because if you have 1+ year, you should have most of the classic set and decent collections for expansions 2.- Do you play arena? Easiest way to farm gold + packs + cards 3.- In Tempo Rogue, 2 legendaries can be replaced easily. And you should already have them if you dedicate enough time to play, instead of whining
I think the problem is not only the top deck costs crazy amount of dust, but also it changes after every expansion / patch . For example for people that crafted jade druid it feels bad that now rogue and priest dominate .
I buy the pre-order packs each expansion and then buy the rest of my packs with in game gold and I find that I have pretty much everything I could want. The catch, though, is that I play weird decks and blow my dust on tons of gimmick cards. If you want to play a couple top tier decks, you can easily have enough money over the duration of the expansion. Keep in mind we still have a long time before the next expansion. Sure, if you want all the cards right away, you need to spend money, but if you're fine with waiting for more then you'll be okay each expansion even as a f2p.
These threads always boil down to the same thing. If you aren't willing to or can't spend any money then don't expect to have all the options those who spend money do.
Blizzard gives away free packs for Tavern Brawl, has run more events lately which give you free gold/dust/packs, gives out free packs for picking your champion for HCT, gave away a free legendary in the solo content for Frozen Throne, made the change so you are guaranteed a legendary in your first 10 packs of an expansion, and changed it so you don't get duplicate legendaries. I'd say overall they're fairly generous, even to those who don't spend a dime. Sure, we'd all love to get more free stuff, but to say the game is all the sudden getting more expensive isn't really true at all.
The game requires what amounts to hundreds of dollars while giving out pennies of free content. Don't expect to afford Hearthstone, don't spend money on it in the first place.
It's about making do with what you have if you are f2p. I made a version of the current Tempo Rogue deck which did well when testing, however not got to test it much since as f2p I don't want to complete my play 30 rogue class cards for 40g when I can reroll it tomorrow ;)
I opened Keleseth from my 60 KFT pack openings from saved gold. I crafted staple classic legendaries Leeroy Jenkins and Edwin VanCleef, and Patches obviously, along time ago. I also opened a Faceless Manipulator.which I use in place of Xaril. The list I saw ran 2 Vilepine Slayers, I only have 1 (will probably craft another if the deck performs well), so I replaced one with a Plague Scientist (common from KFT).
I got super lucky after the Tavern Brawl and opened a (golden!) The Black Knight so I added that for extra removal.
I haven't got Shaku either so I use a single copy of Mimic Pod instead.
You can get by by making sensible substitutions and aspiring to craft missing cards.

At least it discourages F2P people to play Aggro decks. All types of decks should cost about a similar amount of dust.

Use your own damn brain you don't have to net deck everything. Even if you are netdecking try to change atleast something. Don't be THAT guy.
Bitch i'm Willy Wonka!
Rogue Deckbuilder. Midrange/Combo player.
This is a Pay To Win game. What did you expect?
If you want a fair Economy go play Gwent or something.

Yeah, do it. Gwent is very good and not that expensive.
You can also try Eternal, which ppl say you can be competitive been a f2p.
And the most important thing: MTG Arena is coming

The solution is to make a pauper mode.
