There are three moderators, each of which has a Wild card. The creator of the contest (winner from two weeks ago) also has a Wild Card. However, none of these people are obligated to actually use their Wild Card, and it's unusual to see more than one Wild Card per week, even.
Do you ever have an example where the theme creator used their wild card?
SvagoCorp, Toxibrah and I all used our wildcards after the "destroy" theme we created.

Wow, that's incredible. I thought most theme creators don't know that they have a wild card (such as me)...
Why are there a TON of Card Not Found gnomes in this week's submissions what's going on?
It's because every week the rules say not to link directly to hearthcards.net and every week a substantial portion of the contestants ignore that rule. Hearthcards does not host images for very long so there is always a risk that a card submitted early in the week won't still be there later in the week. That's why the rules say to use imgur or tinypic or something similar. Looks like a bunch of the people who just linked directly to hearthcards have had their submissions disappear.
Although its in the rules, I suspect most people don't look at the additional rules in the spoiler tags. Maybe the image hosting rule is worth putting in the main post in the future without hiding it under a spoiler tag? I'm pretty sure cards have made it to the finals and then disappeared because they were hosted at hearthcards.
Also, am I crazy or was there previously a rule about not submitting a card with more than 4 lines of text? I haven't looked at the rules in the spoiler tags in a while but was surprised to not see that rule there.
The first one is really bad. You have to gain an extra copy of something to gain any benefit from this whatsoever. And then, it's super slow. No one in their right mind would spend a card to cut 1 mana off the cost of 2-3 cards at some point in the future. That's just a terrible use of a card. Maybe if the cost reduction was 3+. The best card here is the last one. It's a flavorful variation on Unstable Portal, but you have a better idea what you'll get.
So I'm considering deleting my card, and submitting a new post. Whattya guys think? (In my signature, my new cards are in the "critique" link, and my old submitted card is in the "vote" link).

Well the thread is locked so you won't be able to.

...f...well I'm screwed.
...my card isn't that bad is it?
...yeah, no it's horrendous.
...NOW WHAT THE HECK DO I DO?! (If you can't tell. I am inept at managing my anxiety and apprehension due to my mental illnesses. Thank you for understanding.) OH GOD NO OH GOD NO OH GOD NO WHHHHHHY???!!!
I agree, there are a lot of rather boring entries this week. So many that just have 'reduce the cost of stuff in your hand' seemingly tacked on. Of course, my own card is my favorite, since it tries something different and has flavor that I feel a lot of cards lack. There's a few other good entries (Bargain Hunter I like the idea of, if not the execution) but I don't think I'll be voting for many this week.

As a warlock player , I love the third card,From the Void.I think it is the best warlock card designed in Hearthpwn !
@ Cheese etc. Thanks for the feedback on General Tao. I first thought of making it a 4/6 instead of a 5/6. But you are right, probably belongs as a 7 cost minion.
Okay so i wanted to get this out there: Why aren't we giving creators some guide lines for what is considered "a good idea".
S
omeone should tell them that it is most important to think about player experience when creating a card. Most people post very powerful cards that work well on their own but cause either no interaction with the enemy player (like thaurissan does) or will not feel powerful because their effect triggers when there is no need to reduce any costs anymore (after a powerplay). If a competition is about cost reduction it is about a setup, a snowball mechanic at the cost of tempo.
Other ideas also revolve about very specific combos which would cause their card idea to sit in hand until they fit perfect requirements for a powerful combo. This is way too obvious to feel cool ingame since the enemy will always expect it and then there is the issue of counterplay again. Combos with other cards can create new archetypes (which is fun!) but reducing costs is a "supportive" mechanism in most cases which makes waiting for a powerful "cost reduction combo" even worse.
Knowing this everyone should ask themselves: Is my card really creating cool scenarios/ aka is it fun to play yourself and also play against! I always suggest thinking of cards which are not toxic but create fun game interaction. The best example i can think of is my all time favourite mtg cards "fact or fiction" and "Standstill":
Those are very powerful cards that also force the opponent to make a choice in a very obvious way. Now in hearthstone the choices you make are a lot more subtle. It is about weither or not you play another minion to have more Deadly Shot protection or weither or not you play a minion or not to protect your Archmage Antonidas from Dirty Rat. Just think about the choices players make in tournaments. That is where the beauty of the game comes from. PLAYER INTERACTION! That is why playing without thinking about what your opponent could do is no fun.
To conclude: There is no need to think about player experience and play interaction (hell, most hearthstone cards don't follow this concept) but to win this competition those seem like the most crucial points to cover with your card idea.
Happy creating, Ichorid
I totally agree with this sentiment. But I think part of the problem with this weeks cards is partially to blame on the competition restrictions, specifically that the custom card discount other cards. This actually creates two limitations, first your discounts have to be modest, so to avoid huge combo potential. Second, you have to spend a lot of text space explaining which kinds of cards can be discounted.
Some of the most interesting potential in discounting would be a card that discount's itself when certain conditions are met. Because most of the card space gets eaten up explaining what other card gets discounted, there isn't much room for a conditional statement.
This all gets into MtG having much longer card text than Hearthstone does, along with a more developed system of shorthand keywords in order to save space.
But still, I agree with your ideas. Interactivity, decision making, is lacking in hearthstone. I think part of this comes from the fact that your opponent isn't allowed to make decisions on your turn, and the limitations of the turn timer.
Not trying to make excuses, only offer explanations for some lack luster designs this week.
THERE IS NO GAME.
I also used mine during my theme last season.

I'm in love of crazy non-competitive Rogue decks, that's why I loved the first one. But yes, it's a bad card for Tier decks.
So I'm considering deleting my card, and submitting a new post. Whattya guys think? (In my signature, my new cards are in the "critique" link, and my old submitted card is in the "vote" link).
EDIT: I lost track of time. Dang it.
