During my first days on Hearthstone (start of Year of the Raven), Clutchmother Zavas and Blood-Queen Lana'thel were two of my first legendary cards. I tried building a standard Discolock, and it was absolute rubbish.
When Boomsday came, I cracked The Soularium. Following this was another failed attempt at Discolock. So, when it was Rastakhan's time, I thought I'd meet High Priestess Jeklik for sure. Nope. She stayed clear despite me preordering both bundles and buying way too many packs on launch day.
After a brutal bite by the Wild-bug, I've recently have been building a few wild decks (I mostly play casually against my partner, often making new decks to keep it fresh). I loved toying around with C'Thun--always do--but taking a few variants into ranked saw me copping a beating. Crafted Shudderwock for some shits and giggles, but, again, I realised I sucked at building decks around him. Then, after all my poor crafting choices, I thought, 'why not toy with Discolock?'. The only legendary I crafted was High Priestess Jeklik, then a few of the obvious older, non-adventure rares with 'discard' in their name. Gotta admit, I'm pretty happy with how it plays!
Firstly, I'm a pretty greedy player. So discarding when Deathwing, Bloodreaver Gul'dan, or Fel Lord Betrug is in my hand feels really weird. Secondly, I'm a pretty aggressive player. This deck, surprisingly, has some pretty sweet tempo. Blindly throwing the dice, even if it could lead to discarding those big boys, is well worth it. Besides, Soulwarden could always bring them back, right?
The Rastakhan cards that discard lowest cost cards are amazing. So glad these have been added, and got me kicking myself for not crafting the High Priestess sooner. Fist of Jaraxxus is hilariously fast. I mean, you discard it, this fist slams the minion, and it's gone. Boom! Love the animation.
It's probably a pretty obvious build, but here's the deck I put together:
Only early days for me using this deck, but I'm bloody enjoying it! Fun and effective! Anyone else having fun with something similar? Contemplating crafting a second Tiny Knight of Evil. Such a fun card! Just not sure what to drop. Possibly Fel Lord Betrug... he's just so handy late game.
Just beat Heroic Maloriak with this deck. Far better than some of the other decks built for beating that cheaty dragon. Discarding High Priestess Jeklik early and having access to a bunch of 4/3 taunt lifelinks is ridiculously handy. Closed the game with a 16 power Blood-Queen Lana'thel. As long as Maloriak doesn't get 2 lots of the 3x 3/3 chargers and 2x sheep, and you get the priestesses, he's a bit of a pushover.
Looks like a fun deck. Unfortunately i would have to craft 5 legendaries, which would be quite an investment for an experiment :(
Yeah, probably not worth crafting, but work out really nice if you have them!
It's winning me a lot of games in wild. By a lot, I mean I got down to 15 last month. I assume I could have gone further if I palyed more, as I had a really sweet win rate. I actually like the fact the legendary cards aren't worth crafting; means I should avoid mirror matches XD
Thank you for sharing your deck. I am always on the lookout on how to improve the deck. I like your inclusion of Deathwing. I include Cataclysmin mine and run quest.

Honestly, I don't think I've ever benefited from Deathwing. Remember playing him once, and it was the one game I remember losing against: Reno Warrior. Had him at 1 health at one stage. Next thing I knew he had a full health and a good amount of armour. I think the shuffler likes to clump Deathwing, Bloodreaver Gul'dan, and Fel Lord Betrug right next to each other in most games.
I looked at Cataclysm, but didn't want to craft it (had none). It's probably a better option than Dark Bargain, I find I very rarely use that card too. Actually, I think I've been in more situations on turn 6+ where I'd be happy to destroy a single minion, but Dark Bargain can't be cast with only one enemy. That said, Cataclysm may not work for me as I play quite aggressively. Same problem with Deathwing, if I reach him, I won't have any other end-game up my sleeve.
Discard Lock is an archetype that has been continually teased, but consistently dumped upon. The quest is slow, the reward doesn't synergize with any of the other Warlock archetypes. Like seriously, I never ran into a quest Warlock and thought "Oh this is going to be terrifying". If they're using the portal they're using 3 board slots for the equivalent of 2 Bloodfen Raptors every turn. Last update to this? Rastakhans, with High Priestess Jeklik and some means of controlling what you discard and Soul Warden. All of this combined with the stuff going out into wild to barely make Discard viable in Standard.
For reference, compare to Murloc Shaman. Quest? Not bad, not needed but can give A TON of value. Archetype? Massively supported, namely Everyfin is Awesome, combined with Devolve (optional), Hex and room in the deck to tech/flex. Continual updates? Check. See Underbelly Angler, Toxfin, Sludge Slurper.
Haven't changed much (or played much, to be honest) but swapping Fel Lord Betrug for a second Tiny Knight of Evil was an early changed that really helped. That little guy can win games quite fast, if he isn't dealt with. Haven't tried the alternate removal options, but I'm pretty happy with it. I had a 78% victory rate in Wild ranked (only down to 14; I don't grind as hard as most). Definitely a high-roller deck. Pretty scary when on turn 1 with the coin you Malchezaar's Imp > Coin > The Soularium and draw 2x Silverware Golem and a Fist of Jaraxxus.
This is by far my favourite deck at the moment. I just love playing it. Gets absolutely wrecked by mill decks, though.

This deck is horrible man. There are much better cards for discard lock. Fel Lord Betrug is pointless.
You had the best card for discard lock that is Cataclysm (that can complete the quest in turn 4 and play the quest at 5), and you don't have it.
Cataclysm is by far the best card here in 2 copies, you can also remove the board against heavy aggro deck with it.
Tiny Knight of Evil instead is very good and you have only one

Let the dude have some fun with his creation!
His topic is clear: Discolock is fun and seems pretty decent
He is not looking for a tier 1 stupid netdeck...
If his intention was to improve his deck or climb high the ladder, he would ask for it!!
