I was playing with my Control Warlock. Used all my spells to be at 30 health the whole game. At turn 16 he combo'ed and dealt 30 damage, using Velen, Mind Blast, Holy Smite and the Coin. He played Raza at turn 6 and Anduin at turn 10. Yes, I play The Darkness to counter this deck but sometimes they draw all their combo pieces before you draw your 1 counter. Why does Blizzard allow a 5 card combo that OTK's you from 30 health? Are they not realizing this?
Because it is a five card combo in a highlander deck that could have their pieces in the last cards of their deck? I don't get the point of your question.
Last I checked combo decks beat control decks during rock, paper, scissors. Working as intended.
That's all well and good, except Highlander Priest isn't actually unfavored against any aggro deck. The only legitimate "counters" are even more all in combo decks such as Quest mage and Quest rogue, which simply lose to everything that isn't either cubelock or highlander priest.
Just stop trying to defend the deck. I actually currently play it myself over almost everything else, and find it genuinely fun to play. But it doesn't change the fact that it's broken, probably to a similar extent that pre nerf patron warrior was. Are you also going to enlighten us with gems such as "PW was never broken, just play double flamestrike, double iceblock molten giant freeze mage and you will beat the deck easily, so the deck was totally fine"?
Yeah except of course against the best aggro deck in the meta, Paladin.
So sick and tired of this razakus complain threads. I don't remember the same hate for malygos rogue and malygos druid, and they were both quite dominant. Yes, i dislike the deck too, but as i said several time, if they nerfed Velen to only double the healings, or not doubling the hero power, would be a fine control deck with voidform as win condition once it depletes the opponent resources. Still better than aggros anyway

Nope. Depending on the exact list you are using, your match up can go anywhere from 45 to 55%, but in no way can you call aggro pally a "counter" to highlander priest.
Believe me, I played enough of both decks this season.

We aren't arguing over the concept over whether the entire deck as a whole is fine, the topic of this thread is about the deck's viability to OTK somebody for 30 damage (on turn 16 for the case of the OP's specific situation). As far as OTK decks go that is perfectly fine to be able to kill somebody using the combo/OTK archtype that late into the game. Not every combo needs to go clear into fatigue before being able to win.
I defend the idea of being able to OTK someone in the very late game as a legitimate and appropriate win condition, not defending Raza Priest. It just happens that the deck uses an OTK strategy for some of its builds.
I've seen Priests steal Doomsayers and buff them to kill you on turn 3 or 4. So OTK's are always going to happen. It's kinda how this game is played. Everyone is trying to break the meta. Remember all the complaining when Priest sucked? Then Purify came out? You'd think people had to pump their own gas in Oregon or something. ;)
Isn't there some other game where if you get the right 5 cards in hand you automatically win? How many should they need to assemble for a 'fair' OTK? 6? 10? Why not just beat him first? How long should one have to win? Turn 17? Turn 20? Fatigue?

Haha fr
Turn 16. 5-cards otk.
It seems only good and fair to me.
Power of razakus is the continuous minigun and survival.
If it was a classic OTK deck, we wouldn't even talk about it.

and yet lackey and voidlord need the nerfs the most
The best way to stop hating a deck is to build and play it so you can see all the different ways that deck can lose.
Combo counters control, control counters aggro, aggro counters combo. This is how it should be.
If you dont like this then spec against it. Make your deck faster, play dirty rats, mill effects.

I... I love him.
Did you know that the Deathknight Uther can kill you in one turn no matter HOW much life you have?!?!?

Free to try and find a game, dealing cards for sorrow, cards for pain.
