I watched the 1994 Fantastic 4 movie today (hey, I had a sick day and literally nothing else to do...), and I noticed that "Flame On!" (Flamewaker) and "It's Clobbering time" (Ogre Brute) are the catchphrases of the Human Torch and the Thing. Whoa.
Now, there's hundreds of these references in the game, and I think it's impossible to get all of them. So why not have a thread to share your favorites?
By the way, Magni's "Hammer Time" is of course a reference to MC Hammer's "U can't touch this". No worries kids, that was before you were born, but daddy remembers.
Presumably (although I've never seen anyone else mention this) Emperor Thaurissan and what he says when he comes onto the board has to be a reference to He-Man's "By the power of Greyskull, I have the power"
It was funny when he came out. Folks who didn' tknow the reference kept coming in complaining about the illogical nature of his phrase. "By Power I have Power!? WTF!?"
A lot of people don't realize that what makes a meme great is that other people DON'T get it while you get to snicker at their reactions.
The Black Knight was inspired by the character of the same name in Monty Python's Holy grail, they even steal his line "Non shall pass"
The reference is even more vivid in WoW, where you fight the Black Knight, kill him, and he shrugs it off and attacks you again as an undead Black Knight. Then when you kill him again, he attacks you again as a ghost. It's just a flesh wound!
The flavor text of Brawl is a reference to the movie Fight Club
The flavor text of Fel Reaver is a reference to the "Doge" meme
Everyfin is Awesome is a reference to a song in The Lego Movie, called Everything is Awesome
The art of Dark Wispers and the flavor text of Wisp is a reference to the end of Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos where a lot of wisps cause the demon lord Archimonde to explode

Ha, cool! I never actually played WOW, but when I started playing this game TBK was a hot legend, and one of the first I crafted from dust. I knew there was something about what he said during his battlecry that was familiar. Be cool if they added "Tis but a scratch" to him when he gets injured :)
Evil Heckler is shouting " your mother was a murloc" and "you smell like a leper gnome" which a reference to Monty Python's french taunter which says "your mother was a hamster"
Hemet Nesingwary is a reference to the author Ernest Hemingway, the cards name is an anagram of the authors.
That's all the ones i know myself
I only know that Nat Pagle is a reference to Pat Nage, that's an anagram of the author too, I wonder if more authors have an anagram of their name as a card name.
Looks like Kobold Geomancer's "You no take candle" is a reference to the I take candle WoW Quest. Apparently it's memetic enough to be the title of a TV Tropes entry.

Nice topic. There's Oz's Wizard reference with that 5/2 charge card, that witch shouting like the witch on the film haha
I greet you

Play: "In the Grand Tournament, you win or you die."
Attack: "Pay the iron price."
Both are ASoIaF/Game of Thrones references.
Feel free to add me if you play on NA! iMPose#1429
I love the Brave Archer flavor text (something along the lines of): We didn't even try on this one.
The one that comes to mind imediately is they've made two flavor texts with the exact same scooby-doo reference:
First with Captain Greenskin: "...If it weren't for those pesky kids!"
And most recently with Chillmaw: "...and she would've done it too, if it weren't for those dang kids!"
I'll see if I can remember any others :)
Raid Leader doesn't only refer to something, but is a reference itself :D It refers to an old WoW video:
The cards' name, the flavor text, play and attack sounds... everything refers to that guy.
Ice Block has a flavor text that refers to Robert Frosts' poem "Fire and Ice" .
Crowd Favorite is a reference to Twitch, the crowd does indeed always yell "LETHAL" ^^
Those were some of my favorites and somewhat lesser known ones.

hey guys, you should write down the flavor texts instead of just mentioning them, so we dont have to search for the card in Hs.
