After the witchwood expansion hunter is really weak class to play! As a f2p player hunter was the first choice for me. But after witchwood expansion playing with hunter in the ladder is way more harder than before (currently at rank 15 with odd rogue deck). And in arena it is a nightmare, I only win 2/3 games, but i generally win 6-8 games with Rogue, Warrior or Paladin. Apart from those crappy cards in this expansion, cards like dire frenzy, wing blast had some potential but end up being just disappointments. I am kinda worried. Also think playing against aggressive hunter was less frustrating than facing cube/control warlock & spiteful Druid! I enjoy playing arena more than the ladder cause those damn warlock & druid decks.
fool nerfs just went live, maybe wait until things shake out. also aggro decks like face hunter tend to be good early on in new metas since decklists aren't streamlined yet. smorc down some nerds trying out bad decks.
We'll see if Midrange Hunter is stronger after nerfs or not but yeah, not the best meta to be hunter.

Hunter sucks because there are no incredible strong archetypes for it. You have face hunter which loses to any control deck or anything with sustain and then you have spell hunter which either loses to aggro or falls off late game.
Hunter in arena usually relies on a strong curve to push some early damage, but right now is hard to draft an early curve consistently, also, we have more taunts than on previous metas, which is also bad for hunter. I suggest the Lightforge podcasts on youtube, they realised that this would be a bad meta for hunter as soon as the set was revealed.
In ladder, any minion based deck thay doesn't cheat stuff (Spiteful Summoner or Call to Arms), is on a bad spot against Warlock and Spiteful decks.
emeriss hunter and spell hunter are strong. also after patch they became stronger. i think hunter will be tier 1 after patch cause no more warlocks with infinite heal and fast voidlords. now face hunt awakes.. SMOrc
I think midrange hunter will be a thing again, with the fall of cubelocks and spiteful decks. I don't think they'll reach top tier or anything like that, but you should be able to have fun with them again.

aren't you the fool who did not understand the question? I was talking about those disappointing cards about the expansion. Hunter performing very bad in the arena as well as ladder. On the ladder hunter still struggles against warrior, priest, any other decks with Saronite Chain Gang and other taunts. Specially in the arena i don think balance changes would make that much difference.
I made a deathstalker rexxar deck played about 8 games today 100% winrate so far I am also a ftp player and got my deathstalker rexxar from frozen throne adventure and the rest of it isn't that expensive.
Because hunter is generally weak to super aggro decks and to control decks. The main decks we have seen for quite a while.
In addition there are a number of great neutral defensive tools (Chaingang, Defender, Lich King), and several of the most powerful classes have had amazing health gain.
Spell hunter is tier 2 deck(if played properly). Big hunter is tier 3 but for me the biggest disappointment is quest hunter. Also, bealieve it or not spiteful hunter worked pretty well for me becouse of the Shaw / Cave Hydra and candleshot. Also Curhsing Walls is not at alla terrible card
I'm really enjoying spell hunter, albeit on higher ranks (r12 now). 75 games and still at 63% W/R. Crushing walls (from RD) definitely won me a game against deathrattle quest priest today (removed his dragons), and it could be tech against spiteful.. but I think there are too many variables involved for it to have good consistency and it's expensive even for midrange.

You answered your own question: Those damn warlock and druid decks.
Unpopular opinion: Rogue is OP

The only Human Cube
So a new meta is coming soon, let's wait and see. As a hunter main I have high hopes now that Spiteful took one in the shorts.
Free to try and find a game, dealing cards for sorrow, cards for pain.

yup, i hope so mate!
agreed.
sadly true :(
It's pretty simple... Hunter doesn't have very many powerful cards. Other classes just have more and better options than hunter does.
Because theres no 4mana 14/15 in standard

Mainly: because there are other classes that go better face
Thats what you get when your hero power goes face.
