Hey, TrickTrapHS here. My achivements : Each season legend this year.
Today I'm presenting you something i dreamed of since i saw the best anti-meta card from The Grand Tournament: Chillmaw!
He is the perfect answer to all patron decks. The Chillmaw and Friends deck i created tries to stabilize on board with cards like Blackwing Corruptor, Shield Slam, Bash or several legendaries which create advantage over turns. This Deck is a raw version, but it will be changed after i played with it and analyzed the meta game which will be brought to us though TGT.
So stay tuned for a guide and several tech changes. ;)
LET'S GET THAT DECK TO THE BEST DECK ON HEARTHPWN! :)
UPDATE: (TGT Launch)
Justicar Trueheart is much better than Shieldmaiden, if you bring Trueheart on field she gives you the opportunity to use shieldblock ( nearly ) every turn.
I played now 50 games with the deck with a winrate of exact 75 percent. ( With the updated list which has a lower mana curve and can face the meta much better.)
I write a guide if we hit the 40 upvotes, so stay tuned :)
THE GUIDE BOYS!!!!!
Chilmaw and Friends v2. THE GUIDE! FINALLY ;)
I tested many different versions in the last week, with Execute, with Acolyte of Pain, with Piloted Shredder, with Azure Drake etc.
After many games with Dragon Warrior and Control Warrior i tried to combine the strength of both decks to make Chillmaw and Friends a Tier 1 / 0 deck!
In this guide vor my v2. I present you my Card Choices , Mulligan Tips and exchanges for cards which you don‘t have or you just don’t want to play J
Card Choices:
Execute: Everyone said a Warrior without Execute is no real Warrior Deck, and yes! You were all right, one Execute fits in this version more than perfectly.
Execute deals with big minions on board which can’t be destroyed with weapons or Blackwing Corruptor
Shieldslam: Shieldslam is the easiest removal to trigger no minion has to be damaged, no dragon in hand needed and it has a Synergie with Shieldmaiden [/card], [card]Bash and Justicar Trueheart.
Fiery War Axe: is in this deck because of it’s huge value against early game based decks like for example hunter the secret pally deck or zoo.
Alexstrasza‘s Champion: Just look at Fiery War Axe ;)
Justicar Trueheart and Shieldmaiden : They are the dream team in this deck who let you live longer, Shieldmaiden ist he direct push of life in turn 6 and Justicar gives you the Ability to face long matches with much more Stamina than your opponent.
Chillmaw: THE CARD who beats Patron, she is a dragon and reks each aggro deck or each midgame board.
The Dragons!: Alexstrasza: The lifebringer who makes the difference against many decks, because you can regain your lost life or set up lethal after your several tempoplays and the generated board control.
Nefarian:The card is pure value , he gives you 2 random spells which can be good and can confuse your opponent because he can’t play around these cards.
Ysera: the total Dominator, she dreams every turn and makes it very heavy for your opponent to win a late game.
Twilight Guardian: this guy is a beast! I played with belcher and him, but after several games i have to confirm that the twilight guardian alone is enough. Bring him out turn 4 against an aggro deck and you just win. Really. You just win!
All of these Cards are the important synergie parts for Blackwing Corruptor and Alexstrasza’s Champion
Mulligans!
Against Aggro Decks: Search for a low curve. Hold Fiery War Axe, Armorsmith, Taskmaster and Alexstrasza’s Champion.
Against Midrange: Search for Deathsbite, for Twighlight Guardians Blackwing Corruptors, Acolyte with Taskmaster.
Against Control: You need Acolytes, you need Deathbite and Blackwing Corruptor. You need the tempo plays in the early game and then go for the hard plays with the late game draws like the Dragons or Varian!
Card Changes:
Justicar can be exchanged with a 2nd Shieldmaiden.
One Dragon can be exchanges with Chromaggus, Chrommagus has a good synergy with Varian.

Update 11.09.2015
-1 Dr.Boom
+1 Baron Geddon
I had the feeling that Dr.Boom is too inconsistent in the current meta and don't bring the value that he should, i switched him with Baron Geddon and had an instant raise of value. Baron Geddon kills all the low health minions and fills a hole when you don't have your brawl in your hand.
EACH OTHER CARD IS A MUSTHAVE FOR THIS DECK ! IF YOU DON’T LIKE THE DECK JUST CLOSE THE WINDOW AND WATCH CANCER STREAMS! ;D
some updates?
Hi and thanks for the deck!
Having a really tough time with Handlocks, can someone give me some pointers. Just feel like I'm always chasing them and then Lord J comes to play and its Game Over.
Feeling really strong with this deck otherwise.
I was doing okay with this deck then made a few changes and have been crushing people! The initial issues I was running into was having too many cards or minions that did 3 damage, so I'd end up having to use multiple cards against 4 health minions.
My Changes:
- 1x Armorsmith - I wasn't able to get a whole lot of use out of it with the minimal taunts
- 1x Shieldmaiden - Felt like it didn't provide much synergy
- 2x Blackwing Corruptor - Great but I wanted something with instant 4 damage
+ 2x Bomb Lobber - Still love this card. Not as strong of a minion as Blackwing Corruptor but I've always had enough removal to make sure the bomb is lobbed to the right minion
+ 2x Sludge Belcher - Has been great to use as more defense and draws out all the CC for the big cards
This has been working great for me. Given, I was stuck around 15 for a while, but once I made the changes I dropped down to 10 without a single loss.
Want to try this deck out but i dont have Varyan, Gedon and Justicarr.
Dont really want to craft Varyan, i just rather replace him for something else, should i craft Justicarr or Gedon/?
What can i replace Varian Wyrnn with while i try get him? thanks
what if Varian Wrynn summons legendaries without battlecry? let's say alex
Subbed J4F Sylvanas (Even though i have her) for 1 shield block coz: 1) Card draw 2) Armor for shield block
It actually works better than i thought so if you lack Sylvanas i recommend the sub:)
@Tricktrap This dexk is soooo nice thx a lot :))
Used dragon warrior when TGT first come out, found it too depends on board control with too less armour. Your current version with Justicar Trueheart added up alot of health So far I'm on Rank 10 with 7 Win 1 Lose (only to a Mech Mage, dun know they still exist).
Alexstrasza's Champion and Twillight Guardian add a bit of early control, not too depends to use double Brawl to start your game like other CW.
VS control deck, Varian Wrynn is your winning tempo play in late game.
Great deck 7-0 today!! doing my quest.
Against Hunter, should mulligan keep bash?
I'll try the new version out. I really liked the old version even if it was very slow. I was using Deathwing instead of Varian Wrynn and it was really working for me.
Could grommash by any chance fit in this deck as well, or is it too much?
I am lacking [card]Varian Wrynn[card\] so i use Grommash too ( thanks for the tip;) )
Very nice Finisher :))))
Why not grommash?
The deck seems solid, but I am still wondering, if Varian Wrynn really fits that well into it.
At least you have 13 minions with battlecry, which you do not really want to be drawn with Varian (just 53% of the deck left).
Especially in the case of Alexstrasza, Justicar Trueheart, Shieldmaiden, Cruel Taskmaster and Big Game Hunter you really do not want to lose the battlecry...
Nevertheless, I think I will craft the last two missing legendaries and give it a try ;)
I will try geddon for boom since we are only running one brawl. And he has better synergy with varian :)
You are back, cool! Really looking forward to your writeup! I like the latest changes :)
I played this deck 4 times now i have 1-3 i know its not enough to put a mark on it but the thing its lacking is card draw. it has like none at all. and if your up against some fast hunter and you dont draw into your alex or taunts. your just screwed...and it doesnt have baron either. which i feel after many tries with chillmaw is a better card. since the opponent have time to act on chill. and they dont on baron geddon. so i think the deck is too dependant on drawing varian wrynn and even if you draw him you might overcommit the board. into a lightbomb or brawl. so yeah.
thanks for the warning. I'm getting extremely tired of spending $$$ to try new decks, only to get rolled by the same face hunters again and again and again.
Just before the release of TGT, I was rank 5. I had a pretty good knowledge of the game which includes hitting 12 wins in arena. When TGT hit, I took a massive nosedive. I ended up dropping all the way to Rank 11. I tried various decks. Dragon Priest, Dragon Oil Rogue, Tempo Mage, Beast Hunter, Demonzoo and other decks weren't helpful at all. Before anyone asks, I would like to say that I'm not a fan of Secret Paladin or Patron Warrior.
I tried to grind it out with one deck before I proceed to another. However, I was so demoralized with my progress as I was getting pummeled by my opponents. I thought I lost my edge...until I tried this deck.
I am writing to explain my experience and why the absence of Shieldmaiden and Execute is actually more gain than loss. Think back to the times when Paladins were not running 2 equalities. It is somewhat of a similar concept. Before I go any further, let me post my stats.
Shaman 1-1, Priest 5-0, Mage 3-3, Hunter 1-0, Paladin 4-3, Druid 1-2, Warlock 1-1, Rogue 1-0, Warrior 3-0.
Total of 20 wins and 10 losses with a win percentage rate of 66.7% (Currently at Rank 7)
Justicar Trueheart is far better than Shieldmaiden. I can't stress that enough. It consistently provides +4 shield for 2 mana. That is insane value. It single handedly defeated a Mill Rogue for me.
Execute is replaced with good value cards. Bash helps eliminate threats in the early game while providing armor. Chillmaw deals with threats in the late game. Out of the 30 games I played, I only had Chillmaw silenced once because I didn't have Sylvanas on the board first. Most Druids are more prone to using one of their Keeper of Grove as a 2 damage removal than silencing the opponent's minion.
Chillmaw is a great utility cards. You can play mind games on the opponent. Misplays happen when your opponent assumes a board clear. I tricked one player to playing Grommash. The player ended up losing by betting that the deathrattle would trigger.
As you can see from the stats, this deck is a direct hard counter to Priest. I've also had success with this deck against Patron Warrior. That being said, variance and skill level of the player must be taken into consideration. I've faced really bad Patron Warriors so the stats can be deceiving without proper notice.
Although it is too late to reach Legend, I am very optimistic with the future of this deck. If you play it properly, you will dominate your opponent. When you Mulligan your cards, statistical probability is crucial. I had to calculate the odds of getting a dragon when I only had Alexstrasza's champion in my hand. Early removals (Bash, Alexstrasza's Champion combo) and Weapons are a must for your starting hand.
Varian Wrynn is the real deal. I've had opponents quit immediately after he was summoned. If you don't have this legendary, it is your #1 priority to craft it before anything else.
TrickTrapHS, thank you for creating this deck. Before the month's end, I'm determined to at least make it back to where I left off before the release of TGT.
Note: For those reading this all the way through, thank you for reading. I would also like to reward people who read everything from start to finish. When you face a lot of Paladins and Mages, I replaced 2 Pilot Shredders for 2 Kezan Mystics after losing 4 of 5. I went 4-0 afterwards and continue to climb the ladder. Good luck, Heroes.
*Update* 8/31/2015 - I ended up going 7-7 after playing 2.5 hours. Sadly, I finished with Rank 7 3 stars. I do want to mention a cautionary tale. There are Mages who are opting to not add mad scientists or any secrets to their tempo deck. Before you decide to add Kezan Mystics to your deck, observe the meta carefully since it does wreck Secret Paladin and Hunters easily.
