This is a sequel to my existing deathrattle rogue deck. Its very powerful and just got me to legend. Deck tracker was not functioning well so I turned it off but I think I had about 60% winrate getting to legend as of 15-12-18.Upvote if you like it
Proof
Here's a Video from Tommy Wave with the deck in action
As well as Jeleniowatyy
Here's the mulligan:
General
Backstab Fire Fly Prince Keleseth Devilsaur Egg Necrium Blade Raiding Party
This is the mulligan you would like to go for when you do not know or you're not sure of what archetype your opponent is. If you somehow got Raiding Party in your mulligan as well as Preparation, keep it and play it, this applies to every matchup.
Vs Aggro Decks
Backstab Fire Fly Prince Keleseth Devilsaur Egg Necrium Blade
Over here, you aim to take the board by force through any means necessary since that's the only way you win. Necrium Blade exists to remove anything threatening that the opponent might put down in the early turns like Sorcerer's Apprentice, Mana Wyrm or Primalfin Totem.
In the mid game, you'll probably be on low health and should aim to use your Cold Blood with Zilliax for a burst heal. Do not try to be greedy with your resources in this matchup, you have more than your opponent anyways.
Vs Midrange Decks
Fire Fly Prince Keleseth Devilsaur Egg Necrium Blade Raiding Party Blightnozzle Crawler
Notable card here is Blightnozzle Crawler. This card in accordance with Necrium Blade and Necrium Vial should help you solidify your control of the board on turn 5. If you got the Prince Keleseth buff on it it or Backstab in hand, you can take out a hunters Greater Emerald Spellstones Wolfs as soon as he plays it.
Vs Control and Combo Decks
Fire Fly Prince Keleseth Devilsaur Egg Necrium Blade Raiding Party Blightnozzle Crawler
In these matchups you aim to draw as quickly as possible as well as filling the board with your deathrattle minions. Leave the killing of the deathrattle cards up to your opponent while trying to make it as uncomfortable as possible for them to clear the board. Da Undatakah shines in this matchup since their control spells like Hex, Greater Jasper Spellstone and Polymorph would have been used at this point allowing you to send that 8 attack face. You can afford to be greedy in this matchup by Keeping Necrium Vial in your opening with Devilsaur Egg especially if you have The Coin.
Matchups
Based on popular decks
Vs Even Paladin, Even Shaman Slightly Unfavoured
A good mulligan is what is going to save you here. If you can establish board dominance early you'll definitely win the game.
Vs Secret Hunter, Spell Hunter Highly Unfavoured
Their secrets are very punishing and you have to find a way to play around them depending on the board state. As stated before, Blightnozzle Crawler + Necrium Vial is going to save you here, pray that you get them. Also try to win the game quickly since Zul'jin is going to restock them, denying your lategame advantages.
Vs Deathrattle Hunter, Even
The first one to out tempo the other wins. Make good use of your Fire Fly with combo cards to ensure you're always putting your opponent on the back foot. Depending on how you use Blightnozzle Crawler, you can gain board control easily and win the game from there.
Vs Odd Rogue, Zoo Warlock Highly Unfavoured
Your Necrium Blade is the mvp of this matchup. With proper use, you can deny your opponent board presence early on and simply out value him from there on.
Vs Taunt Druid, Undatakah Druid, Mecha'thun Druid Highly Favoured
These druids are so passive in the early game that you can be greedy as much as you want. You should also be anticipating your opponents moves and countering them though so play smart and go face.
Vs Even Warlock, Cube Warlock, Slightly Favoured
Their board clears hurt them more than you so if you're able to maintain a sticky board, you can deal enough damage to win the game. Blightnozzle Crawler and Vilespine Slayer are your mvps here. Use them wisely
Vs Midrange Hunter, Token Druid, Slightly Unfavoured
Against Token Druid, the longer the game goes on the less you're likely to win. Pop your 5/5's and send them face as quickly as possible. Against Midrange Hunter, try to establish your board dominance before they do or there'll be no way to come back.
Vs Odd Mage, Big Spell Mage, Highly Favoured
Don't pop your deathrattles. Rather, let your opponent do it out of necessity and get punished for it. Your Devilsaurs can't be killed by Flamestrike so don't worry.
Vs Otk Paladin and most priest decks, Highly Favoured
You go face, you win.
Tips:
- Firstly, do not be intimidated by other decks which are 'meta'. Just do your thing and with enough practice you'll be able to pilot this deck well enough to legend.
- This deck aims to close out games quickly with its powerful draw and board presence so don't try to play a value game with say Cubelock when you should be going face and closing out the game quickly.
- If you got Preparation plus Raiding Party in your hand at any point in time and there are pirates in your deck, you should play it rather than waiting to combo it in addition to something else like Elven Minstrel since it increases the chances of drawing other cards from the deck that you might be searching for.
- Using your Necrium Vial or Necrium Blade on the Cursed Castaway is not a bad idea; being able to consistently draw your combo pieces is what makes this deck very threatening even if your opponent does not think so and continuously kills Cursed Castaway.
- Don't be Greedy trying to get some specific deathrattle for Da Undatakah once your get your three, play it. Sometimes even two is okay if you have Necrium Vial in hand or not
- Blightnozzle Crawler is going to win you a lot of games vs midrange and control especially in conjunction with Necrium Vial do not overlook it
- Keep track of your decklist at all times especially in relation to Cursed Castaway. You see Cursed Castaway tutors specific cards from your deck so for example, you could get lethal if you have the Necrium Blade equipped, a Leeroy Jenkins in hand and a Cursed Castaway on board with Cold Blood in the deck. Watching out for and calculating the probability of drawing a specific card with Cursed Castaway can win you games.
- Always prioritize Raiding Party over Elven Minstrel unless you got bad draw and drew most of your pirates before getting to play Raiding Party. This is to avoid drawing your pirates with Elven Minstrel since they are also minions.
- Da Undatakah also copies the deathrattle effects of your deathrattle minions that were silenced and destroyed during the course of the game so do not fret if that happens to you. It simply means they won't have an answer when Da Undatakah starts making arrangements for their funeral.
That's all for now
The reasoning behind certain cards:
After getting stuck at rank 3 for days with the first RR version, I realised that the culprit was Mechanical Whelp, and so with a heavy heart I cut it (It was just too damn slow). Then came replacing it, so after a long while of brainstorming and neglecting my studies, I realized Cursed Castaway would not be too bad in this deck and I was pleasantly surprised by the results. You would not believe what came next.
I got enough draw like a Druid blessed by rng especially since I got Preparation plus Raiding Party into it, Dread Corsair was simply a must due to getting as much Value from Raiding Party as possible. Cursed Castaway also has rush so it could trade into a taunt and draw my Cold Blood all in the same turn allowing Leeroy Jenkins to finally get his Gurubashi Chicken.
Cutting Carnivorous Cube from the deck to make space for some of these cards also indirectly helped Da Undatakah to get more usefull Deathrattles in the process.
Mossy Horror too was cut because without the Carnivorous Cube to get more Devilsaur Eggs it was useless, the 5/5's against druid could also mow down Spreading Plague vs Druid easily and Odd Paladins will win before turn 6 anyways.
Since Raiding Party was Introduced, there was no need for Cavern Shinyfinder and Prince Keleseth came in to do what he does best, increase win rate by X%
The zoo locks too were nowhere to be found so the Eviscerates and SI:7 Agents were booted, and what was left, was this perfection :)
Card Replacements
This is for those with limited dust. You should keep in mind that with these changes the deck might not perform as optimally as it did for me for you.
Preparation -->Any card really, it's very difficult to replace this one, though I suggest SI:7 Agent or Shadowstep
Necrium Vial -->Corpse Raiser or Fungalmancer
Vilespine Slayer --> Walk the Plank or Lesser Onyx Spellstone
Prince Keleseth --> Eviscerate or Cheat Death
Leeroy Jenkins --> Reckless Rocketeer or Argent Commander
Zilliax --> Saronite Chain Gang or Rotten Applebaum
Leave your questions and suggestions down below, thanks.
is this fun mate? I don't have the undertakah yet but when I get him I will try something like this for sure.
I loved death rattle in boomsday, despite it loosing a lot it was still awesome when it worked.
would you say it's better now or more or less the same?
no cubes?
This is fun and slightly better since you can end games quicker. Cubes make Da Undatakah useless
Having fun with this deck at my low level (22-18). I made a small change -
-1 Preparation
-1 Da Undatakah
+2 Shadowstep
Being able to repeat Prince Keleseth, Leeroy Jenkins or Zilliax has seemed better for me
I guess, I'm too weak for that deck. On rank 5 my first 4 matches are 1-3 result. Lost to Spell Hunter, Secret Hunter, Odd Mage. Won only against a strange Priest, which I honestly don't know what tactic has...
This deck is not for me...
Is Captain Hooktusk any good in this deck? I was thinking of swapping one vilespine but idk if that's really worth its value
No, not really. Raiding Party draws most of your pirates anyways including Captain Hooktusk so it can't work out in the late game. If you want more late game power why not try The Lich King?
is it really highly favoured vs Mage? they keep my board clear.
Yes they do so don't over commit to the board so they always think they got you on the backfoot. That way you can deal a little damage every turn. You should seek to end the game quickly with the help of your draws especially Leeroy Jenkins + Cold Blood. You can also use the Cold Bloods early on your deathrattle cards like Devilsaur Egg so they are forced to kill it.
Their is none but your an idiot if you dust your whole collection.
I want to find a way to fit in Myra Rotspring and Gral, the Shark as I have them both and they both feel like great value - I'm thinking of pulling the Elven Minstrels. What are your thoughts?
You can go ahead, they serve as a substitute for card draw so it's okay. I don't know how they would perform though but don't let that stop you from trying.
Loses to all meta decks. Slightly favored vs most low-tier "fun" decks . How'd this get that 85% win rate if you are losing to 75% of the ladder?
I'm sorry you're struggling to make this deck work for you. This deck is not as autopilot as most meta decks and requires you to plan ahead and anticipate what your opponent would do each turn in order to win. Also unfavoured matchups are not unwinnable, I think I didn't imply that. You see I actually pulled through those matches from rank 5 to legend so I know what I'm talking about. If you're struggling with this deck then maybe it's not the one for you and you should try something else.
Seriously. This deck is trash.
Your could Prep Necrium Vial on turn 10 or find a way to put in Lab Recruiter to get more copies of Da Undatakah
Turn 10: Play Da Undatakah + Preparation + Necrium Vial.
No worry about silence ;-)
That's a 3 card combo on turn 10. Good luck getting there without having to use Preparation or Necrium Vial before hand, and even if you get there what's stopping your opponent from just hitting you in the face and killing you?
As Da Undatakah is the only card missing in the deck list above, I have a question:
When - for example - two Devilsaur Egg and one Blightnozzle Crawler have died, does Da Undatakah get 2x the deathrattle of Devilsaur Egg and 1x the deathrattle of Blightnozzle Crawler?
Yes it does
