EXACTLY that! Priest should be weak against something. In wild priest has insane control tools and by making it win against combo decks it will be out of control.
Lol what's demon hunter weakness then?
@Jacob94PL
That's something easy to say for someone that obviously only had priest as an opponent. As a main wild priest, it's disheartening and frustrating realizing quickly that you have NO CHANCE of winning certain matchups, so much that it's much more efficient to just concede and requeue than wasting 25 minutes to just confirm the inevitable.
I'm not saying that priest should be broken but i certainly welcome a card that will finally give a chance of winning an (until now) unwinnable matchup.
So it's making one class combo-immune against all other classes by printed a card which is insta-win on playing. If you find it in the opening hand and I'm playing some combo you don't have to play a single card during the game, you will just win.
Priest might just play the other taunt disruptor beside Dirty Rat (4 mana one, which pulls something for the deck). Bu no, priest just run the same list with no tech focusing and hoping it will work out.
I mean the games will be "play 2 drop -> give up". I think it will be boring very soon.
I'm a Renolock player and I don't complain to losing to Razakus Priest mostly (because they remove everything draw raza + Anduin eventually and just ping me down). It's fair to have weak match-ups. Priest will be good against everything when this card is gonna be out.
Thats exactly how pretty much EVERY control deck feels when playing against Priest. Priests having the same feel against combo was only fair, but this card ruined that balance. Now priest will just feel bad to play against in general, awful game design.
As a combo deck player, I already hate this card. So many games are going to be decided by whether or not the control deck draws this.
This card is so good in many ways if you play against aggro you can dumb there hand quickly as possible so they have to use any removal card xD second think if you play against combo Decks you just steal there combos especially mechathun and questmage getting hit hard. This card is insane love it razakus priest finally have a way to beat questmage.
Great card no doubt, extremely powerful particularly against combo decks but right now the meta is literally, tempo, tempo, tempo, highlander.
Yes, this can be an auto include in any priest deck but its not going to warp the meta around it like The Caverns Below or pre-nerf Demon hunter....if you're playing quest warlock or any number of combo deck chances are you're going to encounter a DH, Rogue or Hunter match up more often than not....this also has the capacity to screw up the priest by allowing the opponent the same opportunity, obviously were not talking anywhere near Temporus levels of stupidity but it still gives the opponent the opportunity to take advantage of the priests hand.
Great card no doubt, amazing card, 10/10 card....but i don't think its a card that consistently makes or breaks anything other than combo matches..and only if played at the right time.
You also steal an aggro's round. Playing priest your hand is full of clearboards and big stuff, aggro players won't play anything most of the time so they have to wait a turn. (And this is very important, you get more time to reach that beautiful aoe or reno, in aggro vs. control what you are doing in the first 4 rounds is crucial)
If you broke the combo, who cares what they troll in your hand? Their combo is dead, you won the game.
Of course you have to play this card in a smart way, you don't just throw it there. But that's the beauty of the game, having to think your moves.
I could be wrong but it seems to me that if you're intent vs aggro is using it early game to steal a round it just kind of functions like a guaranteed Doomsayer while still giving your opponent the benefit of playing your hand and maintaining their board.
I would think vs aggro that you going to need to clear something before playing Mindrender Illucia and you're talking 5-6 mana minimum for wide boards with Breath of the Infinite or Holy Nova, 3-4 mana minimum for single target removal.
True, Doomsayer is just better in that situation. But the idea is that this is not a dead card against other decks except combo. You can play it right at 2 mana and it will help (Even if not as much as Doomsayer) because few aggro decks manage to go THAT crazy in turn 1.
Priest won't play anything significant until round 5(maybe a lucky drawn Breath of the Infinite but thats all). Even if you had Breath of the Infinite in hand and the enemy waste it, so what? Anyway he was ready to play minions that you Breath of the Infinite on them. The idea is that you are getting closer to the late game.
You can go with a 2-turn combo with this, Azalina Soulthief and King Togwaggle.
Your hand has to have the three of this gang in place.
(1) Play Tog - you have your enemy's deck, your enemy has King's Ransom.
(2) Play Illucia - you have your deck back, but your enemy's hand is yours and you see King's Ransom there, in your enemy's hand.
(3) That's it! On your next turn, you would get your decks swapped back, but you will just need to play Azalina and BAM, your enemy cannot rely on King's Ransom anymore!
If your enemy plays Azalina while the effect of illucia stays, they are digging their own grave for their deck - hands will be swapped, just like decks, and the result is that you have your enemy's hand and their deck - a perfect steal!
I wonder how competitive this is tho, coz unlike druid Priest doesn't have that much card draw, but I'll try this delightfully devilish combo nevertheless.
The key core is to not let your enemy play King's Ransom on their turn, which is the reason why druids who run this combo really need Avianna so that the Ransom no longer works in enemy's favor.
This legendary is my absolute fav holy moly
How awesome would this be to play into a Rogue who has Myra's Unstable Element in hand.
There has never been a more reliable combo disruption card ever printed. It's insane. This card single handedly counters quest warlock, the most dominant combo deck currently being played.
But it's not just combo disruption necessarily, this card f*cks with your opponent's entire deck design. You just crap all over any kind of plan they may have been working towards and there's very little they can do about it.
This card has two major weaknesses imo. The first is you can scarcely rely on this as a tempo 2 drop. The only time that's even remotely feasible is if you're against hyper aggro and you have a hand full of expensive cards, at which point you delay them for a turn. So, you really need at minimum around 5 or 6 mana to truly pull this card off, though preferably 9 or 10.
The second weaknesses imo is that priest is severely limited in card draw, so you simply might not have drawn into her by the time your opponent has completed their combo. Again, using quest warlock as the standard, it's not uncommon for them to have their combo finished before you've even drawn the first half of your deck.
This is easily one of the strongest priest legendary cards ever and arguably just one of the strongest cards ever period. There's literally no deck this card is not good against and only 1 priest archetype that it doesn't fit in; res priest. This might be the best card of the set. I mean maybe I'm overestimating this card but I don't think so. It's just hard to imagine this card not being great.
Cards which can't be played around and simply destroys entire type of decks shouldn't be printed. This is jade idol v. 2.0. Jade idol ended control-fatigue games for a very long time. This card destroys combo. If you want to play destruction combo cards they have to be balanced, like Dirty Rat or 2/3 for warlock burn a card. This is too much, it's not fair that priest can now play his Raza on 5 (because their is little chance I will rat exactly it and also I will draw Rat before his turn 5), Anduin and get 0 mana bullshit heropower and priest now can just everything. He can win every game against combo deck when this card is played. This is next level counter, this is 100% win the game kind of card. This shouldn't be printed. Someone said "this card will allow new control deck to come up". Yeah, sure. It will literally delete any type of combo deck in the game because everyone is going to be playing Raza Priest because you can win every match-up with it. Good against every single archetype.
I don't even play combo decks that much, only few games on legend, but holy smokes, this card is going to shift wild meta into complete disaster. Every deck will be ultra aggressive or Razakus Priest.
And people will probably says "it's double downside because your opponent can kill your combo too" Yeah right. Priest will always play Raza as soon as possible (so it won't be in hand), you have to just play this card when you don't have Anduin in hand. That's the only other combo card this deck really need. It doesn't really need the guy with inspire deal 4 dmg if he kills the combo of his opponent.
As I'm seen in the comments people like ruin fun for others. I don't get it. This will kill 1/3 of decks possible in the game! We'll be combing back to the most boring meta ever printed.
There is only one chance for combo Druid. Have all combo pieces in hand and only UI. Than your opponent will not have mana to play anything relevant despite maybe innervate. That's why druids will need to run weapon. But once again, if you run Jepetto and you get 1 mana combo pieces it's over. It's play one card (no skill involvated) win the game. no set-up, no nothing.
I was planning to go back to game but I changed my mind after seeing this card. It lefts no hope for me and the meta to be any diversity.
And one last thing - control decks won't come up if Razakus priest will be the most dominant slow deck. Because Razakus Priest will kill control decks with Raza + Anduin. Controls decks are posssible to play if you play rats in them. That's perfect balanced situation. If you destroy combo decks, Razakus priest will grow in popularity -> control decks will be out of meta because priest is great with control the board and have elementals of combo which can't be really disrupted. They play Raza as soon as drawned and that's it, you know who these games go. They play Raza as soon as they have it in hand, so the only time possible to actually Rat is by turn 5.
The reasons why control deck is even possible to play is because Razakus priest is countered by combo decks. You take combo decks, Razakus priest is top tier, control decks are out. Simple. So that leaves aggro, Razakus and this stupid Quest Mage (because they will just wait with completing the quest until they have lethal in hand with giants). Oh yeah, it's gonna be fun in a month, you'll see...
Wild was full of combo decks. There were days when I've seen more combo decks than aggro.
This card is good, but it is in the class that doesn't have any draw. Raza priest today is based on a slow, control deck that has mostly no card draw. There are huge chances your enemy draw his whole combo before you draw this.
I tried to play dirty rat and I had to deal with alot of times when enemies drawn their whole combo before i drawn dirty rat.
Raza priest today is no way what it was in Knights of the frozen throne expansion, now you have to deal with infinite N'zoth Rogue, mill rogue, multi-DK guldan, full armour warrior. This decks didn't exist back then. 0 mana deal 2 damage hero power is worthless against 40 armour warrior.
And come on, with this card there is finally an anti-quest mage deck that doesn't go hyper aggro. I think this is very healthy.
I know it is. I just played one week of wild after 8 months of not playing the game, get to legend 200.
The thing is you still had rat and you could actually win. One rat is not enough? Play 2 if the meta requires. Play brann. (concerning other control decks, not highlander). Rat is so super balanced. Had potential downside of playing it. Rat is perfect.
This card is literally insane and it will single-handly shape the meta, mark my word on that. I agree that priest don't have much draw but single thing to consider - if there are so many combo decks in wild and this card is definitly the best combo distruption we have in the game, than razakus priest must be more popular (logical). With one rat and this guy they will nail combo decks. And let's say I'd like to play combo deck in wild after this card release - let's assume people will play priest more just because this card exist. I'm not into playing a gamemode when my entire plan is pray for priest to not draw this one card (and there will be a LOT OF priests I imagine. So it's better for me to not play combo deck) I have been rated a lot by priest, I had some close games against them as they destroyed my combo pieces with Dirty Rats and just tempo me out, slowly reducing my life total because I needed to draw. Sure I usually win but that's the point of combo decks, right? Should be the best against control decks? Now Razakus priest is just unmatched in either controling the board and having combo elements and combo destruction element. Their is no point to play other control decks when the best class in distrupting opponents combo (priest) has OTK element in the deck which my control deck can't respond to. Because ratting the Raza is almost impossible.
I'm pretty sure Togwaggle for 2 mana is not healthy for the game. And this card alone will change the meta into complete one-dimentional priest fiesta. And I played control decks actually, fun control decks which I made and had fun with them because I had Reno, I had Rat, I could beat everyone with good deck construction but I had to play really good to win (luck involved as you know) And my winrate was below top-tier decks, still it was super fun. Now I just can't match against Priest. Because priest will be dominant and the only answer to it will be going face. I can't even play fun combo decks because of this card (altough some priest players might not be aware I'm combo deck, but they will probably know by not going face). You can no longer play any mechatun deck in wild, no longer Paladin DK OTK, really nothing OTK based because if this deck is going to look promising, people will play priest and they will be great at it.
I will definitly come back to this post and see after a week or 2 how the meta will shape in wild cause I'm pretty sure all the combo warlock will be gone, combo druid will be gone (some will remain), there will be aggro as always and Raza. No thank you :)
Kill all combo decks for the sake of killing quest mage is not okey. Besides quest mage can literally kill you the same turn it does the quest, you won't be able to steal quest. Unless you're playing against idiot. Maybe giants? Well, it won't be easy as well as they will still remain their cost so it depands how many spells YOU played. Mage goes off around turn 7 right? How many priest spell will you play until that point? not much, priest don't play as much spells as mage in order to reduce it to 0. (maybe you will steal one giant). Well, you play their spells so maybe you will discount them on that turn, that's true... But no mage will be so stupid to finish quest and not play it on same turn. Just nerf the apprentice and not implement complete broken mechanic as stealing cards from your opponent's hand for entire turn. It will be VERY problematic in any future card designs.
If we want to fix mage, fix mage and not destroy entire combo aspect of the game. I guess I will have to be running Dirty Rats as a combo decks in order to rat the 2 drop? Holy smokes, healthy it is :-)
40 armor warrior is soooo rare I can't even describe. While my run to legend I only met a few, very few. Most were pirates. I think armor warrior is not problematic at all and doesn't kill any archetype in game, does it? Also we have a counter to armor I believe, there is a card which destroys armor. Situational? GOOD! That's how distruption cards should be! And not INSANE in every possible way.
