That's about 13 years ago which coincides with the release of The Burning Crusade/Tempest Keep. My friend got the mount, think he was the only one on the server for quite some time.

Or change cost from 5 mana to 4 mana.

Actually a strong turn 5 in an empty board scenario, solid card that forces the opponent to waste cards to get rid of it in the right conditions. Good setup into turn 6-8. Should always try to go face if the opponent let the bird live >:)
Will see how it does late game
Edit: Also works well in embiggen druid. Pretty satisfying when the quest pulls it out from the deck
Edit 2: a great card in galakrond priest as well. A lot of fun priest shenanigans scenarios. Heals, buffs, duplication, deathrattle. All good things to keep this card running.
I hate like everything about this card.
- It's a bird.
- The name keeps reminding me of the islam and... Okay, that's not its fault.
- Even if you magically make it revive once, it still kinda blows, you can't even attack with it that turn.
- It's not only a bad card, but you can't even make it work in the arena.
- I actually own this card.

Anivia from LoR but worse
for a finix looking card for the year of the finix, this feels weak. Why not make the ash at least 7 health? 7/3 stats is easy to remove as well :cc
The flavor is cute, but this is way too easy to remove since it doesn't create a permanent.

It should get an hp boost (to like 4 or 5 hp) or a charge/rush.
Al'ar gets the Illidan treatment of "give it a trash card"

Duelyst had a class with a similar gimmick. Rebirth minions would have low health, and turn into 0/1 egg for a turn before reviving.
As for the card, it's extremely vulnerable. Especially to a Restless Mummy.
This reminds me of Anivia from Legends of Runterra. Very similar mechanics. The only bad thing is as said by others is that you will usually only have the initial Al'ar because even if it were to die from defending or attacking, that egg will never make it to a next round. Unless you are able to use some sort of spell or minion to duplicate or protect it. Just seems like a lot to go for without the best pay out. Now that said I do believe every class should have some sort of crazy meme potential deck with this. If not in standard then definitely in wild.
it's kinda sorta a 7/6 with a weird mechanic similar to divine shield or reborn in a way. The issue is when it gets resurrected it has summoning sickness otherwise it could be a way to go face and then hope your opponent can't play a rush or something and permanently kill it
I love the concept, but honestly waxidred does it better. A high attack minion that keeps coming back is great and all, but the fact that this leaves a vulnerable 0/3 out that I presume can be killed in order to disrupt the rebirth, and it's own natural stats are pretty low (3 health makes it far to easy to kill), means this won't really see any play, or be good. Unfortunate.
Making Mummies anyone?
Thinking the same. The 0-3 in a sense have taunt.
