I felt sorry for this Thief Rogue I faced, whose Spectral Cutlass and Tess Greymane were utterly useless throughout the match because I was playing...Hooktusk Rogue. Nothing like seeing Tess played as a last-ditch attempt, then conceding after absolutely nothing happens.
And I couldn't help but laugh at this Odd Mage who threw in the towel against my Healadin deck. With Clockwork Automaton and Daring Fire-Eater on board, she tried shooting herself in the face with her hero power, but couldn't even do that as she missed that self-lethal by 1 health. I love beating Mages.
I'm sure a thread like this already exists in these forums, but I'm too lazy to find it. Anyway, I've been generally pleased with the recent class legendaries for RoS, but they're making me nostalgic over all the ones rotating to Wild this year. That got me thinking; what do people consider the best legendary for each class in HS history?
For my choices, I defined "best" in terms of the card's power level and flavor combined. I only started playing midway through the KoFT expansion, so I'm genuinely curious since I can't really speak for legendaries from earlier expansions (though I did include some pre-KoFT cards based on general player reactions). Here's my list:
Druid - Fandral Staghelm Never got to play him, but players keep singing this card's praises. It's easy to see why with that effect, which is just perfect for Druid's "choose one" theme.
Hunter - Deathstalker Rexxar Strongest and most fun card for the class, and I don't think this will ever be topped.
Mage - Frost Lich Jaina This might be recency bias on my part, but it's hard to deny DK Jaina's impact. When I think of Mage, I think of the DK first. None of the class's earlier legendaries are as impactful, imo.
Paladin - Sunkeeper Tarim Supplanted Tirion Fordring as the strongest Paladin card; can be slotted in almost every Paladin deck.
Priest - Prophet Velen A ubiquitous presence in the Priest class, seeing play in Razakus, Resurrect, and control decks.
Rogue - The Caverns Below The flavor is perfect for Rogue's stealth-y identity. Plus it's enabled one of the most oppressive decks in HS.
Shaman - I seriously don't know.
Warlock - Mal'Ganis It was between this and Lord Jaraxxus. I chose this because of its demon synergy and higher power level, though I'm not sure if this created some oppressive decks in the meta back in the day.
Warrior - Grommash Hellscream It's just the perfect fit for the class in terms of its effect and flavor. Auto-include in most Warrior decks as a finisher.
The only cards that have potential to be broken are Jepetto Joybuzz and Heistbaron Togwaggle. We'll have to see what synergies they can have with cards from previous expansions too.
I’ll have about 25000 dust give or take, so I’ll craft a few gaps with maybe 10000 of it and save the rest. I only really can afford to craft to win, not craft to bling, so I’m not worried about crafting gold cards.
God, I envy you. I'm down to my last 100 dust after crafting a golden Gloom Stag and Glitter Moth so I could benefit from the extra dust. That'll give me 4,000 dust once they're HoF'ed.
By my calculations, I'll probably gain at least 8,000 dust once the rotation hits, with the dust from Genn and Baku accounting for a lot. I'll probably dust some of my useless legendaries (Moorabi, Blood-Queen Lana'thel, and The Darkness) as well. With all that dust, I'm thinking of crafting a number of must-have classic legendaries (thinking of crafting them in golden) and some interesting RoS cards. Here's my list so far:
I already crafted Captain Hooktusk a week ago. I'm planning on playing a lot of Rogue this year. Any tips on which of the classic legendaries I should add to my collection?

Ugh, this would have killed with Spiteful Summoner.

Not too sure about this one. The effect is interesting but the cost is a bummer, and even if you manage to cheat it out, it still feels lackluster.

Just discovering a Savannah Highmane makes this card good

I sense great potential in this one

There are tons of interesting cards in this expansion so far. They're not crazy powerful, but their simplicity is what makes them interesting. Cards like Madame Lazul, Commander Rhyssa, Fel Lord Betrug,Keeper Stalladris, Swampqueen Hagatha, Walking Fountain, Wrenchcalibur, Hecklebot, and Omega Devastator are great cards that don't look to be game-breaking anytime soon, which is a good thing.
The only cards that have potential to be broken are Jepetto Joybuzz and Heistbaron Togwaggle. We'll have to see what synergies they can have with cards from previous expansions too.

It's a nice target with Eureka!, if that card ever sees play after rotation.

Zilliax on steroids. Will definitely see play, despite the high cost.
That's some bitchin' art, too.

Interesting...deathrattle Warlock?

I do #2. For 3, I always emote "Well Played" after delivering the lethal blow to my opponent. It's the only way I can say "good game."
