There are ways to defeat Taunt. I run two Deadly Shots and two Giant Wasps. Each can kill almost any Taunter if there are no Divine Shield.

OK, for six mana you get a 5/5 body + a random Legendary card. What's not to like here?

A 5/5 body should cost 4 mana. A spell with text "add a random Legendary minion to your hand" will cost at least 2 mana, since 1 mana would be too good. So you get these effects for the same combined prize and even save the card.

Toki, Time-Tinker on login. Didn't even know it's random, and still don't know whether it's good, but the image is nice :)

Opened 91 booster, only 4 legendaries: Archmage ArugalChameleosTess Greymane and Baku the Mooneater. Yes, it could (and should) be more, but at least I've wanted three of them :) Don't know what to do with Tess, and whether he's playable at all. It could be worse, but I've expected much better. I have enough dust to craft two more Legendaries, probably Shudderwock and Genn Greymane.

I lack a lot of good Epics and hope to get them in future boosters, but I'm unlikely to buy boosters in the nearest future. The card distribution makes me anger: I've dusted 39 rares. Can you imagine opening 91 boosters and getting THIRTY-NINE rares in more than two copies? That doesn't include golden rares, and I've opened them a lot. Yes, it's nice to have two golden Witchwood Grizzly and two Festeroot Hulks, but there are so many good Rares I lack that it becomes a problem.

posted a message on New Shaman Minion - Totem Cruncher

    Quote from TCG_Guy >>

Hm, totems are my favorite Decktype of the shaman class, in terms of flavor... but im not sure this is good enough.

in a Genn deck you would probably

    turn 1: HP

    turn 2: Murkspark Eel

    turn 3: some 2 drop+HP

turn 4: Totem Cruncher, so the best case would be +4/+4 = 6/7 taunt. Thats good, but how often will this happen given the fact, that your HP-Totems are so easily removed? Maybe it could work vs slow control, but then you wont need a big taunt...

now shaman needs a 2 mana totem that summons a totem or something like that.

If aggro opponent spends his attacks to destroy your Totems, then you save a good amount of your life. So they are NOT going to do that, unless you get a Taunt totem, of course. If you get Murkspark Eel on turn 2, they are more likely to kill it than your Totems. And if you get "some 2 drop" on turn 3, it's going to be much more important creature than your Totems.
Thus, you have a pretty good chance to summon a 6/7 Taunt on turn 4. The chance is even better if you are going second, and you can get extra 1 mana for an extra HP on turn 4. Theoretically, you can even get +6/+6, but you have a really good chance to get +4/+4.
That's why I've voted "very good".

Guys, how can you pretend this card is bad?

Shaman spells may be not spectacular, but you may get a tremendous card advantage on turn 4! Play a lot of cheap minions on the first turns, then play this, use your minions to kill the enemy minions and enjoy the card advantage. This is especially good in 1-cost Hunter decks.

posted a message on New Druid Legendary - Duskfallen Aviana

Okay, I've voted "playable", so I should at least present some arguments :)

People claiming Duskfallen Aviana is bad mean that you're spending resources for something that would benefit both players, and your opponent will get the benefit first. This is very bad for sure.

But actually the Aviana could be more beneficial to you just because your deck is prepared for her effect, and the opponent's deck isn't. If your opponent is playing a mad-speed aggro, and he has few cards in his hand left, Aviana isn't going to help him much. So, if you aren't going to die on the next turn, the opponent will be forced to kill Aviana to avoid your mega-spells for free. So she is going to work like she had Taunt, and 3/7 Taunt for 5 mana is normal.

IMHO, Aviana will be a sideboard against aggro. You may play Mark of the Wild or Mark of Nature on her to stop the aggro for a crucial turn.

It's even better than Hellfire, since in most cases you can trigger the Battlecry at least twice, dealing 4 damage.

OK, I didn't know they are going to remove the Enrage tag. So that was so funny to ignore the rest of my text? The wording is different now, and Redband Wasp just "has +3 attack while damaged". May I call this "enrage" please? :)

All reviews of new cards are speculations. Nobody can predict the future metagame, even the game designers. So let's just wait and see? Why? Don't you like such speculations? I do.

posted a message on New Shaman Hero Card - Hagatha The Witch

I've voted just "playable", because it would be very difficult to build an effective deck on Hagatha the Witch. You need a lot of minions to get a lot of spells, but if you have a lot of minions, Hagatha's effect may be more harmful to you than to the opponent. Of course, you control when to play her, but still.

Hagatha means card advantage, but, unfortunately, to use her effectively you need extra sources of card advantage. She isn't going to do much unless you draw extra minions to get a lot of spells, and unfortunately, Shamans aren't very good at drawing extra cards. They have Mana Tide Totem, but, unfortunately, Hagatha kills it!

Grumble, Worldshaker is absolutely great with Hagatha, but a combo of two Legendaries has too slim chances to happen.

What's Enrage? The site explains that for you :) "The stated effect activated when the minion is injured". What was so funny, eh? You have a minion with Enrage, then you play Warpath to injure it.

I'm totally pissed off with your attitude, guys. If you don't agree with me, maybe you should argue instead of just pressing the "minus" button? It takes some time to write this, so maybe I should just stop?

With the new cards, my mini-review continues:

Face Collector. For 3 mana you get a 2/2 body and an extra Legendary minion, which is pretty good, but not spectacular. How much would you pay for a spell without the 2/2 body? One mana would be OP, two mana would be more appropriate, but a bit too much. Let's say 1.7 mana, OK? :) So you get a 2/2 body for 1.3 mana, which is OK.

The wonder starts when you start to use Echo. For six mana you get two 2/2 bodies and two random Legendary minions in your hand. For nine mana, you get three 2/2s and three Legendaries, which is a tremendous card advantage. This alone would be very very good, but that isn't all: you get to decide whether to cast a second and third Collector or not, based on the Legendary minions you get! For instance, if you get Leeroy Jenkins that immediately wins the game, you just summon him and win. Awesome late-game card.

Warpath. A very flexible card, but it really needs a strong synergy with the rest cards of your deck. Battle Rage goes rampant, Armorsmith works, Frothing Berserker is pumped, all Enrage minions trigger, and Acolyte of Pain brings you more cards. You can also use all cards that affect damaged minions.

There are also many downsides, alas. You need to have several minions with a great Warpath-synergy on the table, which isn't easy. This card is designed for a COMBO deck, which should be quite strong and absolutely spectacular. If you want to see some examples of such decks right today, you can try playing Star Crusade - this is a preferable way of Shan'Ti :)

Not possible with the cards we know at the moment, yes. But we aren't the game designers, are we?

If the game designers want to make an even-cost Shaman playable, they will make it playable. Maybe not after this set, only after the next one, but they can do that, if they want to :)
