Boss Overview
The Steel Sentinel is the second boss in the Hall of Explorers wing of the The League of Explorers adventure.
Sigh. Another encounter we don't really know anything about other than his Hero Power. Fortunately, for this fight, it actually says quite a bit about it though so let's take a look at that!
- You can't deal more than 1 damage to him on each attack, this sadly includes attacking his minions on heroic.
- One Attack minions / weapons are likely to be some of the most value in the game, since you aren't spending mana for an attack stat that is irrelevant.
- Dreadsteed could see some pretty good value here.
- Mogu'shan Warden.. possibly. Really depends on his deck composition, but it could make quite a few trades!
- Baron Rivendare + Unstable Ghoul?
- View all 1 attack minions/weapons
His Hero Powers are:
- Normal Hero Power: Platemail Armor
- Heroic Hero Power: Platemail Armor
Pro Tips and Strategy
- Super annoying fight on Heroic compared to normal - now the minions can only take 1 damage from each attack.
- Divine Shield, Armor, and Taunts is the backbone of The Steel Sentinel's deck.
- Knife Jugglers plus token spam can help clear out the Divine Shields, and hit him in the face with effective damage.
- Equality makes quick work of his higher health minions.

-When you play Arch-Thief Rafaam pick [card]Timepiece of Horror[/card]
Count your mana correctly. Took me 2 attempts with this deck, good luck.
Yup, this one works a charm. Took me two tries, but excruciatingly got him to 1 life in the first try, so the deck definitely works :) Thanks for posting!
Agreed, this one is very solid. First try.
This is a challenge deck built for someone who's already beat heroic bosses, knows the strategy pretty well or wants some extra fun. It works very inconsistently and one successful attempt will be well enough after a lot of failures. If you have limited card collection, hope this can help you with your deck-building to defeat him! Total attempt: 1
It sure is very difficult dealing with this boss with a 0-dust deck. Here I used Flamewaker mage with the ultimate Kel'Thuzad+Taunt bug combo. Not quite sure if this is be best option given the limited card pool, but I sure won't try it again. Actually I'd made so many mistakes during the game when it comes to Armorsmith that I almost died first in that run by fatigue. So my only possibly valuable advice is to clear his Armorsmith first. Good luck!
Any cheap decks for winning it?
It's okay I won it. My mistake was trying to fill warlock's deck with many 1-a minions, which is bad. You must just keep board control vs him and wait for him wasting all cards from his hand. Good to have strong removals like syphon and curse. Impplosion works good too. And heal bots, as he overdamages you no matter what
Expensive deck but beat heroic first try. Basically Baron + Dreadsteed + heals ftw
The grind is real in this one...
use the new [TOP 5 LEGEND] Raptor Rogue deck it worked so well.
Beat him first try with egg druid. Was very easy.
Good idea, i will try this
This guy probably has balls of steel.
Tried out full aggro zoodeck, it works pretty well.
