Pro Tips and Strategy
- You want board control, and you're going to need spells to get it.

- A one-turn-kill is one method of dealing with him.
- Kel'Thuzad and Annoy-o-Tron or Sludge Belcher prevents him from attacking.

Took me forever. I milled him with the suggested rogue deck, very annoying but possible.
Yop Quest mage total masacre. done first try :) just left 2 HP but done :)
For those folks who are trying to do it after Rogue Quest nerf, you should try the Mage Quest OTK. It has good control until you can copy Sorcerer's Apprentice and kill with Archmage Antonidas. Took me a couple of tries.
I did it today also with an Exodia-Mage... Worked well (3th attempt).
Thank you for the suggestion!
thank you ! beat him first try!
Slitherspear requires a lot of luck, I mean perfect luck.
I can't beat this fucking guy, used all my dust to create decks that don't work any more. so frustrating
Finally got him, Light well, doubled my health twice and then changed attack to match health. FINALLY
Since I don't have Deathlord, I created a Mill Rogue deck that uses cheap poisonous minions and spells to keep the board clear:
Thanks to i1438470 for the deck that was the inspiration for this!
Super easy and fun
Deathrattle-Taunt + KT no longer works. Will update if I figure this out. Also, playing a secret will have the boss attack your minions instead of your hero (For my Animated Armor this is very bad).
UPDATE: Seems like after a few failed lethal attempts the boss will attack minions OR if the player has lethal next turn on board. Meaning the former is just a correlation.
UPDATE2: okay, got a list. It's not perfect. Pretty straightforward and I think people can get it within 5 tries knowing nothing about the boss. I wrote some tips so you don't encounter the same pitfalls I did. Hopefully this means you can get it within 2-3 tries.
I FUCKING HATE THIS MOTHERFUCKER!
This deck worked for me. First try. Thanks!

In your tips and strategy section you say "
I endured him till turn 7, buffed Deathlord and stuff and turn 8 Kel'Thuzad ended the game.
It may rely a bit on your RNG but it is still the best deck to take this one down, the other ones didn't even get me close
Whoa, you're absolutely right! The AI doesn't target Animated Armor. Thanks for the tip. Now I finally have some hope for beating this guy on heroic mode!!
Calm down there. RNG doesn't check to see whether it's your first try or your 100th. You can get a string of lucky draws and indeed win on your first try with the deck. It doesn't mean the person is lying. It also doesn't say much about the strength of the deck, if you ask me, but if you give them the benefit of doubt and use their deck as a frame, you can probably build a better version of that deck and better your chances to win. It's not like Heroic challenges are designed to be won on 1st attempt. There's supposed to be trial and error involved.
edit: Okay, I shit you not... I beat this guy on my first attempt with a similar version of the deck shown above. I don't see how you can lose when you have Turn 4: Animated Armor, Turn 5: Faceless on Animated Armor, Turn 8: Kel'Thuzad, Turn 9: Belcher, Mirror Images, Shieldbearer. The game stops there itself when you have this setup. The Boss stops attacking your minions. GG.
Thank you so much for this deck. It really helped me win.
I would recommend a hard mulligan for animated armor. It is essential to do a turn 4 - animated armor which gives you time to fraw kel-thuzad and gain enough mana to put him out.
Since the hungry minions health and attack continue increasing everytime the hero power is used I wouldn't kill the early minions unless you need to and leave them until so the enemy side of the board is full and can no longer put out other minions.
Once you reach turn 7 - frost nova the enemy minions and put out as many taunts as you can (leave a spot for kel'thuzad next turn)
turn 8 - kel'thuzad will break the AI and the enemy will not attack at all.
Afterwards its an easy win ;)
Heroic slitherspear mage deck win
This deck is NOT for basic Lord Slitherspear. You do not get Animated Armor until you beat Mage in Class Challenge, and you cant get there until you beat all basic heroes level three, which is Lord Slitherspear Basic. So unless you are Heroic, the above Mage deck by BlueDragon is useless
