So it seems obvious that Blizzard is interested in trying to get more players to play wild. But as someone who plays both wild and standard already, I think there is a definite problem to overcome.
You only get rewarded for one format or the other. But not both.
Every month I shoot for rank 5 in Standard (I want that golden epic) and rank 15 in Wild (mainly just to see if I can). It seems at least mildly unfair that I only collect a reward for my work in Standard, when I obviously put at least some work into Wild. And I think that ultimately that is going to be Blizzard's problem. Wild is a fun format to play and it's refreshing to see a meta that is different than that of Standard. However, if there is no incentive to try, than most people won't do it. I think it's a lot like Dungeon Runs. They are definitely fun, but since there is no incentive to do them, most people simply don't (outside of that rare daily quest).
However, if we received dual rewards at the end of every month for the progress we made in Standard AND Wild...
we would see a huge increase in the amount of people playing Wild.
people would complain less about the "cost of hearthstone" because they would be getting more free stuff.
Blizzard would make more money because people would start buying Naxx and GvG cards.
It seems like Dual Season rewards would be a win/win for everyone.
The rewards are so shitty anyway, I don't see why it's not already the case. I don't think anyone would complain about not receiving a few golden cards just because they can't play wild.
Uh-h, what stops you guys from playing wild with standard cards? I do this.
If current year expansions are indeed powercreep clown fiesta by your own community's voice, they are perfectly fine to break into the wild mode as well.
To the OP: I understand and agree with your feelings on Wild mode but completely disagree with your conclusions. Blizzard does not want people playing wild mode all that much, but only to keep them from 'burning out' on Standard in order to stay in the game. Wild might see more players, but they will be using mostly Standard cards in their deck because of the power level of newer cards. They might craft some of the older cards, but they are likely not buying older expansion packs when they can purchase the newest ones. People will never stop complaining about the cost of Hearthstone.
Blizzard should do rewards for wild, but they won't because of money. Maybe they could give half of the rewards for wild as they do in standard at season's end, but they must keep the players focused mostly on standard to keep selling more new cards. The last thing Blizzard can afford is for Wild to be the dominant mode for play. This is also why we will never get the 'fun' mode that we all have been asking for with no net decks and such. We can each project all of our greatest desires of how this game should cost, play and be balanced, but in the end if it doesn't result in Blizzard increasing their profits then it simply will not happen.
That would be unfair to people who don't care about Wild at all.
I wouldn't really consider it unfair. We reward people playing arena despite plenty of players not using that game mode as their preferred mode of choice.

An extra insensitive wouldn't hurt.
"What have you got there,
PinocchioMalygos?"That’s actually a great idea.
It wouldn’t be unfair if you don’t care as the option is there for everyone, you just don’t take it.
The one issue I see if that new players would have an incredibly rough time ranking in Wild, even bigger than the actual grind in standart.

Well since they've already said they've purposely done it this way so people didn't grind both ladders I'm sure they will just go back on it.
I made a thread about the same idea last month (https://www.hearthpwn.com/forums/hearthstone-general/general-discussion/212263-ranked-rewards-for-both-standard-and-wild), and there was a thread before that as well. It's a good idea and would only help people. I don't expect Blizzard will implement it though, unfortunately...
