I will admit I was disappointed and let down by this episode :( To say anything else would be to spoil it further.

Behold, foolish interlopers! I am commanding this mortal to spread the will of the Scourge throughout the interwebs, encouraging you to seek out me, Archlich Kel'Thuzad! Now coming to you as the tenth class of Hearthstone!
I am a finalist in this Class Creation Competition, so if you could give it a look I would be greatly appreciative <3
I will admit I was disappointed and let down by this episode :( To say anything else would be to spoil it further.
I'm not going to spoil anything either, but the episode was just disgusting. I still can't believe what they have done to my favorite TV show... :( :( :( It was a total disaster, a slap in the face to the fans!!! >:-(
newest episode was alright. as usual the battle scenes are usually very chaotic and it's not so easy to see unless you have a massive TV (and I don't own a TV and have to watch on my computer)
I won't say anything more though as it's spoilers obviously.
That was abysmally lit, which I guess I should have expected at this point but I still managed to get my hopes up anyway.
While I enjoyed this episode in many ways, I really understand why both Sherman and link were less than pleased. It has given me cause to worry about the direction the remaining episodes are going to go.
I don't know, I might just be emotionally drained. Maybe it wasn't a good idea to watch this immediately after Endgame.

I just can't, i honestly can't. This episode was stupid. I mean i get that dialoge and character developement can't be as great as before as they cannot compete with the genius that is Martin, but the strategy? My god i was really pissed! The creators didn't even bother to wiki basic medieval warfare.
The formation, the troop placement, everything was retarded.I am by no means a expert but i have red about some of the most important battles in the history of mankind. This was 100% full retard mode.
They send the fucking dothraki to the endless horde!THEY FUCKING SEND THEM TO DIE AND JOIN THE HORDE!You might think that "man they are calvary, what could they do in the defence of a city?" and i answer with google about the winged hussars or the hit and run relief tactics of George Castriot, who used the calvary to defend cities against a vastly superior Sultan armies. They could just wiki the goddman thing!Even leaving them in the castle would have been a superior choice.
And lets not talk about leaving the unsullied outside to face the undead army face to face and not behind the walls. And if they wanted to buy time to defend the city they could build fortifications outside the wall to give them the advantage of positioning (and that lame trench doesn't count). It was a hell back then to attack a enemy who had the advantage of a fortified position and the time to prepare. Even Sun Tzu has said that everyone who assaults an fortified enemy must be ready to lose at least one third of his army. If this is the best that danerys, jon, sansa and tyrion could do, then cercei deserves to have their heads.
And what about the prophecy of jon snow being the azor ahai, the entire jon snow storyline in the books suggest that he is the chosen one and the one who will end the "night".So how arya was suddenly the one to beat the night king?
F*ck it, i am done. This episode not only ruined the show completely but somehow made even the books feel cheaper to me :(

Living could have ten times as many men, they could have all the best military commanders on their side, they could've done everything "by the books" and nothig wouldn't matter, cause they would all die in the end. Only chance they ever got is to kill Night King, everything else is irrelevant.
Now, who gets to kill the Night King is a matter of personal preference. I like it that Arya was the one.
What bothers me more is that at one moment NK seems like an undefitable character of immense power, resisting full blown dragonfire without a scratch, and the next moment he dies from a little stab to his chest. But that's how most fantasy stories go. You either accept it and like it, or you don't.

Why? Whyyyyyyyyyyy?????? :( :( :(
The thing is...will the books follow the same events in today's episode tho? Chances are they will, and that won't make a lot of folks happy I think

Which is exactly why they had to maximise their chances and force the night king to arrive. Yet they derped. And do not forget that they should have to preserved their forces as much as they could so not only they dont join the dead but fight cercei with the leftovers. The more dire the situation, the cunnier and smarter you have to get. Honestly the writers f*cked this up big time.
As for arya, is not a matter of preference, but a matter of build up. George has given so many hints about jon through out the books. Liking or not liking the fact that he is depicted as the chosen one is one thing. But completely forgo the established storyline is a major flaw in storytelling. If they have left more open or giving some hints about arya as well, making her a candidate for azor ahai like danerys then it would be ok. But this? They made huge plot threads obsolete.

I didn't read the books (I will at some point) so I don't know how plot goes there and I can uderstand your dissapointment if things in the show did not end up as books were suggesting they would, but both David and Dan have said on multiple occasions that show and books will have their differences in story.
I agree that many things could've been done differently. There was a huge build up for this battle and it ended way too fast. There should've been at least one more episode of it. Like i said before, I think that NK died way too easy. I was hoping that it will require some divine intervention too kill him. Perhaps the Old Gods could've helped somehow, or maybe Lord of Light should've acted through Melisandre and bring him down with his power. Yet he died from a simple dagger stab.
Also, episode two felt like a farewell to many characters, yet only few of 'em died. Too few for such a hopeless situation they were in. But, there's more story to be told, so let's wait and see what happens.
I don't watch game of thrones, but I know it has like 7+ seasons, so I don't know what you guys expect.
any show that goes on this long is bound to turn out awful. I am really surprised you guys stuck with it this long. I know I would have gotten bored with it by now.

Rejoice, for even in death, you have become children of Thanos.
I won't spoil anything, but I was disappointed that it was hard to see any details of the battle, and they seemed to make that choice on purpose to help obscure all the CGI and lack luster fight choreography?
I also absolutely loved the intent of the 'Hide and Seek' section with Arya, but the issue is it felt out of place in this episode. It would have made a better scene is a less World War Z episode.
The episode felt all over the place and decisions were poor from a battle scenario. And like many others have said, felt like the most un-GOT episode ever. It also felt like the build up wasn't worth the pay off at the end.
In episode 2, you spend the whole time showing how all the characters know they are about to die and face an army that is unbeatable. No action, just character development and exploration. And then this episode was a big nothing burger. Sure, a bunch of nameless people die and perhaps a few others (no spoilers still), but none of this felt rewarding or it earned the pay off.
Having a well written villain means you need a clearly defined motivation and end goal for the villain. Having the 'night king' as your big pay off for the past season or two, felt very unfulfilling. 'Winter is Coming'. That is the tag line. 'Winter .... eh, not so bad after all' is what it should be now.
Huge spoilers ahead so do not keep reading if you haven't watched the episode...
They've been hyping this battle for the last 2 seasons, they spent the first 2 episodes creating even more hype and making you think it would the epic battle of Life Vs Death and instead we got one of the worst,if not the worst, episodes of a TV series I've ever seen.... Even if we set aside the fact that it was all so goddamn dark that seeing what was going on was almost impossible more than a half of what happened doesn't make much sense....
What was the Dothraki's purpose?! They came to Westeros and all they did was being sent into an illogical, nonsensical and useless charge...
What the hell did Dany and Jon do the whole time? When the WW were climbing the walls fire would've have stopped them but where were Dragons in that moment? Apparently flying somewhere else because both their riders seemed to have turned into idiots all of sudden and were flying cluelessly in the air...
How on earth did Jon survive all those WW after falling the Dragon?! God I hate plot armor, especially when the show initially made you think no one was save from death...
Also, the NK,who had hit Viserion from a much bigger distance last season, somehow missed Drogon even if he was closer to him, like seriously? Has he somehow gone blind in between seasons?...
Why did Theon have to die? Hadn't he charged the NK (why would you ever do something so stupid?) he might still be alive...
You're fighting someone who's known for rising the dead and you decide to hide where? In a fucking crypt? Brilliant...
And last but not least NK's death... I can get over the fact that it was Arya who killed him (Bland but still better than Jon) but the way it was done was outrageous... It seems that all of sudden the NK and his Generals have turned into complete morons that don't even notice someone running past them... I get that Arya is no one,a skilled assassin etc but she literally ran past the whole WW'army and no one even tried to stop her... How does that make even the slightest bit of sense to anyone?!?!
Also,if we go by Melisandre's words Arya is gonna kill Cersei too... C'mon what's after that? Jaime and Brienne get married? or worse Dany/Jon end up on the throne?
The show had been declining lately but I really didn't think it could get this boring and predictable, hopefully the next episodes will be better but after the abomination that I had to watch today I highly doubt that...
First off, Sherman, that's a fantastically appropriate new signature, well played sir!
I also just wanted to share my agreement with jainaishot's and Prudence94's reactions, amen brothers.
I know nothing of battle tactics, but even I was stunned by the strategy employed given all the combat experience and IQ points they had at their disposal.
As others have said, having the Dothraki go full Leeroy made zero sense and looks even dumber when you consider that they weren't expecting Melisandre's help...so the original plan was to send them in without flaming swords for a guaranteed death? (can't imagine they made 10,000 dragon glass blades for them in time)
The placement and minimal use of the catapults seemed like a waste; they got off like one volley...
The lack of any advanced plan to amplify the effect of the dragons' fire was also lame. Was there no way to coat the fields in oil or anything flammable to kill a bunch of WW and divide their forces into subsections that the Dothraki could then swoop in and kill?
The lack of any fire-related plan for burning the WW scaling the castle walls was equally frustrating. Would've loved for Jaimie to have brought a pyromancer from King's Landing to cook up some Wildfire or something like that.
Also completely agree with Prudence's reaction to Arya somehow getting past the whole WW army undetected. I was really hoping she'd take the face of one of the WW and slip through that way...then we'd get the sweet reveal Walder Frey style after she guts him.
I enjoyed it (other than brightness issue, which really was annoying). I thought it was entertaining. I thought it was what the series has become since about 3-4 seasons ago: A fun fantasy epic that is NOTGRRM's A Song of Ice and Fire. Rest in spoiler tag:
THERE WAS NO TRAGEDY IN THIS BATTLE. ASOIF has always been about subverting common tropes. The lack of deaths of significant characters in a battle of this magnitude was shocking, especially given the amount of random extras that died (tens maybe hundreds of thousands!). Every person of note that dies had a heroic end---Jorah saving his love, Theon absolved, Ed saving a black brother, little Mormont slaying a giant... War is chaos, and in chaos things are not so neat. The bravest heroes may trip over an axe and impale themselves, or got shot by a stray arrow. Why not have some little imp wight take down Brienne? Or Jamie killed because of his gold hand? Sam die because he's too cowardly to fight back? Or Gilly killed by a crypt wight? Why the hell is Grey Worm still alive? These things happen in war, which was kind of the point of the story from the start. But I feel like the show has become so white washed now, as if people would rebel if any one of their beloved "good guys" dies (another thing, kind of weird having definitive good and bad guys now). I'm not saying everyone had to die, but in a show that always managed to shock and surprise, there was really not much shock or surprise last night. The "good guys" won, every essential character survived. I really hope the books go another direction, if GRRM lives long enough to finish them.
