Got Legend with Patron. Was a very short session from Rank 5 to Legend today. Lost one game. Everyone playing bullshit Paladin. Whenever I I play against a Paladin it is like God rolls a big dice. From 1-90 I win, from 91-100 the Paladin wins.
Definetely very fun stomping these low skill decks with my highly skilled machine gun deck. Everyone, everyone stomp the Paladins...
Yes secret paladin is truly not good :). Lost to a control paladin yesterday though (without secrets) he ended my winning streak so im sitting at rank 8 now.
Would like to play control warr but since i lack ysera and Gromash im sticking to my handlock.

Last 3 seasons I've hit about rank 6 every time (I start with about a week and half left then just grind) but early this season I am stuck in a weird rut. I win up to rank 15 and tilt all the way back to 18 and its been going on for days now. So I gave up and I am riding innerfire priest till the end of the season.

That is an impressive run, gratz! Which server was it? I'm only rank 10, but seen only 2 paladins this season so far on EU.
For me it's a very difficult meta. First I encounter all sorts of secret Pally's. When I want to counter them with a deck... suddenly I face alot of controle, druids and dragon priest... Each time I want to beat the meta, it suddenly shifts... whitin an hour. Damnit.. I'm not used to be in a giant losing streak. There is no stable deck in the EU servers. Well.. Pally is.. but I refuse to play such deck... It's almost like the facehuntarts all over again.
Tempo Mage - Rhonin / Antonidas with Flamewalkers. No Nexus Prince and a few minor changes to the listed deck. Rougly 35-40% wins.
Dragon Priest - Using Chillmaw + Lightbomb to counter most aggro threats. I have roughly 65-70% win with this deck.
Midrange Druid - Not using this much. Mostly was testing out Darnassus Aspirant and a few TGT changes.
Midrange Paladin - With Murloc Knights and a few TGT. Not your usual Christmas Tree bullshit, mostly trying to built a inspire based deck with Tirion and Boom as finishers. It works, but not much. Around 30% wins.
I'm slowly climbing this season, might reach 5-6 by the end of the week.
I hit Rank 6 pretty quick and have been taking a few days off to relax in order to build up the mental stamina to tackle Rank 5 down to Legend.
In real terms, based on the number of games it actual takes, unless you get a godlike 25 games, Rank 5 is actually only about halfway to legend.
Mind if I ask what deck you used to get you there? That's a pretty fast climb, nice job.
Secret paladin and tempo mage and occasionally dragon priest. Depending on what the ladder was like at each rank I'd switch.
Note: Aggro secret paladin is better for early ladder but, a midrange paladin with big late game threats like boom and Tirion, that also plays challenger has been my No.1 deck this season.
Challenger.deck is too one dimensional, using it as a play in a more rounded midrange deck is what you want.
Feel free to add me, I'll mostly be doing testing and theory this week while pysching up for the weekend charge at legend haha.
Cheers man, might hit you up. I'm currently rank 13 with Dragon Priest, not doing too badly seeing as I only play 3 or 4 games a day. Tried a straight secret pally and hated it, might try a more mid range.
I had some time to play today, climbed from 10 to 8. I went 13-9, which is pretty bad, but I still have 72% winrate this season. My session started badly, lost the first two games to bullshit RNG (like double legendary from Ram Wrangler for my opponent) and I got a bit tilted and threw a few games. I got myself together and managed to turn it around and had a good streak. Still lose a game here and there, but it is still manageable. I do not feel stucked and I could handle the increasing number of secret paladins so far. Though the competition is definitely getting stronger than on the lower ranks.
I need a couple of suggestions regarding Climbing the last part of the ladder. (currently on R8). After checking my Deck Tracker I seem to face a lot of Paladins, Couple of Patrons, same amount of Mages (as Patrons) and the daily Huffer (I mean Hunter). What are good suggestions in a meta like this to get higher up the ranks, as I don't want to lose too many ranks/stars. The class I'm most familiar with is Warlock, but it doesn't seem to be matched against the either heavy Aggro or Heavy control matchups I face. I do have experience with most classes/combo's/decks, (Patron the least although I can play it to some extend) but would love some suggestions as a good middle ground on what to pick to ladder further onto R5 and higher. Some insight in how the meta looks up there would be lovely too. (Playing on EU). From what I personally gathered Priest (Dragon), Druid (combo/ramp) or Warrior (Control/Patron) might be options, although I'd love more opinions from different angles. Cheers all and happy laddering !

I think you got the basics covered. You know what are the best decks in the meta, just pick something you are comfortable with and stick to it. If you are good enough, you will reach legend.
I play combo druid this month, I'm confident in the deck and do not plan to switch at all, will play that all season or until I hit legend. I'm also rank 8, so do not know what the meta will look like on the higher ranks. A friend of mine plays control warlock with dreadsteed, he had an insane winstreak today and was rank 5 already. I'm pretty sure that all decks you listed and built properly can reach legend with no issues if piloted properly. The more I play and more experience I got, the more I'm convinced that any decent deck can get you to distance.
After really trying to think of a deck to properly work in the meta, I found out that demon handlock is quite viable at rank 5 and onwards. Thus far 8 wins 3 losses, and one of the losses was a rng swing from my opponent that lost me the game. (Piloted Shredder into Loot Hoarder into Divine Favor for one card into Truesilver Champion which was the last thing that could kill me. I also had guaranteed lethal for the next turn.)
Finally got to rank 4 . ugh those four days were painful ,got 5 stars 6 times , that moment where you only need just 1 more win to break that flippin' wall HEARTBREAKING.
I use secret pally should i change it up for me to climb up ranks with ease?
Everyone in this thread playing boring ass aggro paladin. How can so many ppl enjoy such a brainless gameplay. Holy shit. I hope it's worth having no fun at all but getting that legend cardback instead.

Working on legend with some dragons! Around 67% winrate after 60 matches!
I'm hellbent to make it to legend with rogue till next expansion...

I'm currently playing Token Druid but you can run out of steam pretty fast, thinking of playing Combo Druid instead.

Is being at r3 this early any good? I usually push late season and I dunno if I'm on par.
Also, I'm playing combless taunt/ramp druid so trying to change it up ;)
