Hallo guys! As most of you i am super excited for the new expansion and i am trying to experiment something new.
I am an handlock lover and here's my deck list explained:
Blackwing Technician: if you're holding a dragon is a solid 3 drop. I swapped the classic Ancient Watcher with this cause of the lack of 3 drops and early game board control. BT has a worst shadowflame sinergy but has still a good body to tank up.
Hellfire and Shadowflame are a must have in every handlock deck. I usually play x1 and x2 and a lot of players run x2 and x1 but in this deck i dont feel the necessity to run more than 1 copy each because there are a lot of good minions that are able to keep the board calm and there is Chillmaw.
Twilight Guardian is THE 4 drop of the moment: if you're holding a dragon you have a 3/6 taunt that costs only four mana! I replaced the classic Sludge Beltcher with the TG because is faster, "harder" to silence and has a good dragon sinergy.
I feel that Blackwing Corruptor and Siphon Soul are essential to gain a good mid game board control.
Handlock is a very strong deck because:
-is hard to kill (taunt, heals, LORD JERAXXUS)
-has a lot of big minions
-is able to clear pretty well dangerous boards.
So...why not Chillmaw? It has everything we need: a good body, taunt, dragon and able to clear the board.
In the end we have our last dragon, Chromaggus, that is kind of self explanatory: drawing 2 copies of Molten Giant or Chillmaw sounds pretty good! :D
Sorry, english is not my language. I hope this is clear enough :P I am ready to answer to your questions! GLHF :)
CHANGES
2/09/15: - 2 Mountain Giant + 1 Antique Healbot + 1 Hellfire -> anti aggro meta. Mountains are too slow, and they are too often a dead card.
I find it strange that you run Chromaggus in a warlock deck, and miss the obvious synergy of running mortal coil. Even most regular handlock decks run either one or two of these.
Deck looks good though. I came to have a look because i just opened Chillmaw in a pack, but unfortunately I dont have Twilight Guardians yet.
Given that I'm missing some cards I'll design my own deck to make good use of what I have actually got, but i guess eventually I'll craft some guardians.
I thinks thats possible to run either Chrommagus or Nefarian as "big dragons", which one is better is about personal preference. In my opinion now Chrommagus is better cause you face a lot of aggro decks so:
1- you rarely are going to have a full hand at tourn 8-9-10 when you can play it
2- the deck is full of very strong cards that if you are able to drow in a x2 copy is gg
3- Nefarian is too rng based, i hate that card
I personally won a ton of matches thanks to Chromma and the deck, after something like 70 matches, has a good 67% winrate.
I personally dont like mortal coil too: some handlocks run it, i know, but is not a must have card in the deck. I find it often a dead card. Generally speaking in handlock you have to choose among mortal and zombie, i think that chow is the best :D
I find the double defender of argus interesting. Can you explain that choice, normal handlock decks run only 1 argus and 2 sunfury.
Basically i decided to run x2 argus cause of the aggro meta like totem shaman, secret pally, facehunter etc. From my experience is better to run double argus also to have a strong late game, i lost a ton of matches because i wasnt able to find something to tank up: in this way you're more likely to drow out one.
Anyway is also possible to swap Defender of Argus with another Antique Healbot, if someone prefers that one more. Both are a solid choice! :D
