That would absolutely destroy the card and make it unplayable. What it really needs is to have the bounces limited like returning at the end of the turn. Could also make it a 0/1 so it retains its identity but is useless if you can’t bounce it
I am playing in Standard and I am so tired of meeting only Rogues. Since the last nerfs, I mostly find rogues on ladder. And initially it was okay, but I am the only one who finds it boring to go up against the same deck / class for something like 10 games in a row? I know that there is going to be a new expansion in two weeks but it is so frustrating to meet something like 40% rogues on ladder. Not to speak of 'It wasnt'me' spammed all over again every game....... Am I just being unlucky or does any one else notice this?
I've been (admittedly quietly under my breath) saying this for some time now. The Face Rogue deck is extremely degenerate and (after briefly trying it myself to see if it was as easy to harvest wins as it seemed - short answer, it is; long answer: it is, but by God is it boring to play) it definitely will not be a deck that is missed post-rotation.
And it seems like every netdecking sheep and his mum is playing it at the moment. It's soooooo dull and oppressive. It means that every game becomes a case of either die by turn 7-8 or survive the first 10 turns and watch them auto-concede. Meh!
I think Pen Flinger is much more a problem in Libram Paladin right now than it is in Rogue, to be fair. As for whether it should go face or not, ehhhh... I'm not entirely convinced that it is a particular huge problem really. It's frustrating to play against, but I've yet to see it dominating the meta at all.

Making it a 0/1 would change absolutely nothing. A pen flinger is almost never played if it can't be bounced anyways, so that's essentially a non issue. The only way to nerf the card is to make it only deal damage to minions, which would also potentially kill the card, but so be it. No deck should be centered around a 1-drop. I truly believe this is the change we'll see later this month.
Another year of watching the rope burn while your opponent ignores your board & bounces pen flingers definitely does not sound like fun to me.

I honestly think it's an equal problem in both. When Rogue has Preparation/Secret Passage/Prep-discounted spells all in one turn, Pen Flinger gets wildly out of control. Just as bad as Libram Paladin, in my opinion. Plus, Rogue can throw in a Prize Plunderer at the end of it all.

It's one of those cards i wouldn't bother becoming unplayable, just like Animated Broomstick. Those cards should have never been released in the first place.
Also, I have another suggestion for a nerf: Make the spellburst give you a copy without the spellburst (or outright give you Elven Archer :D). That's how a spellburst is supposed to work anyway, right? It should be a one-time-only effect.

Complaining about rogue really dude rogue has been gutted so bad if u can’t beat stealth rogue then ur doing something wrong.
Secret Passage, as well as its stupid interactions with cards like Nitroboost Poison and Cutting Class, is one of the problems indeed. The other one is Pen Flinger, a highly toxic card that should have been nerfed long ago. I have been playing Pen Flinger in a memeish secret/tempo deck that isn't even good and I have a guilty conscience about it still.
Really pen flinger is worse in pally then rogue lol. Bitching to bitch sounds more like it
First of all. People are aloud to play the game as they wish. Some of us don’t like playing brain dead face rogue decks. Just would like to see some cards that help the thief mechanic and don’t help face rogue. And stealth rogue is boring AF. I play this game to have fun.
So true I play quest rogue lol I don’t play stealth or face.

I mean it isn't. Pen Flinger in Rogue gives a deck that already has a ton of reach even more reach. But sure, pen flinger in general is a problem.
You have to show some tolerance. All the assholes playing Secret Mage in Wild have a right to play Standard as well.
I recall when I was playing Secret Mage in Classic and it was such a meme deck with no hope. I was championing for it to gain some card draw or anything to make it viable. And now it is the cancer, how far we've come /wipestear
As for Stealth Rogue, as someone else pointed out it is not even a T1 deck. I do not understand why people want to kill it so much. I personally found it very fun and the great draw and Secret Passage reminds me of Miracle Rogue which has always been a fun style of deck and I look forward to trying it again later this month. Anyway the deck is not some zooey cancer or typical aggro and it is not crazy effective (I am freshly returned and but a good player) in my own experience.
dunno about what people say and what they are actually thinking, but i can assure you Alex_Strasza, you are the only one frustrated by stealth face rogue
It's an aggro Deck? It's been always this way. As long as people try to play Ysera druid or tickatus warlock there will be fast and face oriented decks to punish this.

Well yes is an aggresive deck but is not like "only beats control" or "its only really favored against control" the deck beats almost everything very easy. Its not a deck that heavy relays on minions and the ones that use are pretty safe with stealth in a meta were 3 mana and 4 mana AoE are either too slow or too weak to go in the main deck. Self-sharpening sword will beat you even if you manages to keep on control the Stealth minions. Wards cant beat Pen Flinger and Prize Plunderer. So in short control dont work, midrange dont work, combo dont work (unless heavy rng in mage give you enough freeze) its just crazy hard to beat a deck that has so many low cost answer for everything that prevents combat damage.

Take a walk on the wild side...
Pen Flinger should not go face imo.

Ceterum censeo classum magi esse delendam.
AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO THINKS THIS GAME IS ABSOLUTE TRASH AND ITS COMMUNITY DESERVES CANCER

get ready for nitro boost on arcane golem with charge now.
That’s only a possibility for wild, which isn’t the topic of this post.
