So, if they are removing stuff that goes face - they want to make it even more minion focused then? A Mage without Frostbolt just seems weird I guess...
All classes lost 'iconic'cards. Hunter players are going to be crying they lost animal companion, eaglehorn bow and kill command. Hopefully it's all for the good of the game though rather than keeping individual class players happy. Not sure how rogue kept both step and backstab though...

Rogue kept them both because it lost eviscerate and sap, 2 of its best ways to push face

Funnily enough they are slowly but surely removing Charge out of existance in standard but they keep printing insane cards like Broomstick which also makes board states meaningless cause the opponent can simply wipe an entire board by giving everything rush.

Sap is massive. It's a whole new world anyway so who's to say what's going to be strong, especially with lackeys rotating out too.
So the goal of the pruning was to drop cards that went face? To make the game more minion-focused then - and maybe games less super quick with aggro?
But cards like Blizzard went away too - lot of freeze cards so I guess they don't want that anymore?
It seems like the goal is to get rid of non interactive design space. It isn't fun to play when your opponent stops you from doing anything or wins without interacting with you.

The opponent wins on their turn, you win on yours.......

They are not removing it they are making it part of DH identity. It is clear with Kor'vas Bloodthorn and Kayn Sunfury that they want to keep charge around, but they also stated so many times that a neutral 1 mana charge minion was an issue for design space, we saw this coming years ago, and I guess bluegill is a collateral victim. I really like the new rush bluegill to be honest, cheap neutral removal is good for the game.
I agree on Broomstick, they literally created the new Warsong Commander and balanced it at 3 mana, as a class card. They must know very well that Broomstick is the most undercosted card they've ever printed. But it doesn't break the game or class balance so, I assume they're fine with it until it rotates.
However it's not entirely true that it makes stats meaningless, you can't wipe every board with a chillwind yeti and a broomstick in hand, it's not as retarded as that, you need a lot of big minions on your side to "wipe an entire board" broomstick itself will only deal 1 damage
They want to tone down the number of board clears and versatile burn spells.
The fact that mage had pyroblast, arcane missiles, frostbolt AND fireball in their core set was absurd. Especially when you consider that mage had the ability to generate spells from effects.
Frostbolt in particular was good at controlling early game boards, securing lethal, freezing big threats, freezing the enemy hero. It just did way too much. Now they can spread that out to a few different cards. Brain Freeze and Deep Freeze for example.
I don't think they're necessarily going to cut down on burn spells in shaman and mage (shaman still has dunk tank, serpentshrine portal, lightning bolt, molten blast), because I think spell damage and burn is part of those classes' identity. But I think we might see some newer, more expensive but perhaps more impactful variants of spells.
Rogue, Hunter, Paladin, I think they just don't really wanna have a lot of burn spells anymore, though.
These are all MUCH fairer burn cards than Frostbolt, Kill Command, Eaglehorn Bow and Eviscerate were. MUCH fairer.
Easy to say now, but if they make it into T1 aggro decks, your opinion might change. The 4 cards you mention don't strike me as particularly unfair cards, maybe Eaglehorn bow. Frostbolt is vanilla burst and worse than Quick Shot that you qualify as fair, eviscerate is 1 damage over vanilla and conditional, kill command is vanilla and conditional.
Tony is the FIRST Golden card I ever made. Also he has the best card art. And a unique, highly useful effect. He's not even in the meta now. :(
And Frostbolt? Well, and Pyroblast? All iconic Mage spells. Pyro wasn't used too much but still...
Blizzard is moving away from stuff that goes face.
They probably want to enable burn strategies through expansions instead of having them around forever.

Because the developers haven’t known their assholes from their elbows since Brode left.

Because mage had a set 100% toxic.
Either he freeze your entire board for many turns or either he burst your face in a sec.
Because it promotes an uninteractive playstyle probably
Illidari Inquisitor Gan'arg Glaivesmith Kor'vas Bloodthorn Quick Shot Shadowform Shadowed Spirit Fogsail Freebooter Pounce
Are you sure about that?

Well, obviously we still need Demon Hunter to be able to ruin everybody's fun.
