She is too situational and slow vs DH. That is about the only reason she is not played.
Almost every card will still be useless for one more turn after awakening from dormant state. Priestess of fury, kayn sunfury, the 3 mana that summons 2-2, altruis, ... give instant value and pressure. This makes her a dead card a lot of the times because there are only a few good targets
I think the reason is that it ticks too fast, faster than most people expected. I thought that you play it, next turn is dormant, you get turn, next dormant, your turn, and only then it wakes up. Meanwhile you get one turn free after you play it, minion wakes up and passive abilites like taunt are already active. It doesn't give too much value, too much time.
Was said to be the safest craft of AoO. "Neutral removal this will be played for sure!"
But where is she now? She isn't even played in Highlander lists... What is her shortcoming?
This card was way overhyped for sure and I totally bought into it. I was amped that I got a gold one in one of the pre-order bundle but it hasn't seen any play since the second week.

100% This. It just doesn't take a threat out for enough time to make it count. It's a shame but this may end up being a DE for me if I ever need the dust.
Frozen Shadoweaver is just a better card. Same stats, one mana less and a common. Plus you can freeze the opponent so more versatile.
Saying "safe craft" before any exp is a mistake and somehow a hive mind took over the community and everybody said maeiv was safe craft.
The n1 deck at the time was the midrange DH with maeiv and since i got every other card in packs i crafted her even tho i said here that crafting something in the beginning was a rookie mistake and that there was never truly a safe craft unless deep into the expansion.
But the hive mind said she was good the HSreplay stats showed her in the n1 deck and thus the story of my 1600 dust and how I WILL NEVER TRUST HS COMMUNITY EVER AGAAAAAIIINNN!!!!!!!
Works well against decks with problematic taunts i.e. ress priest or big druid. I'n April I hit Legend with DH having Maiev Shadowsong on top of Kayn Sunfury to have better chances against those decks
Maiev puts a big guy out of buisniss for three turns,so except u face aggro, she s great. Three turns, because when the dormand dude wakes up,if it doesnt have rush,it cant attack.me i love it and play it in 70% of my decks.

Good.is a good day for starting to THINK FOR YOURSELF!
She is just a way more expensive Spellbreaker. Using her to lock a minion for a few turns isn't very good most of the time. You are better off just destroying the minion with any removal available (Shadow Word: Death, Shadow Word: Pain, Hex, Polymorph, Shield Slam and so on). In the end, her best use is to remove an annoying taunt out of the way for lethal. Just like any other silence card. Extremely overhyped.

Most classes dont have a polymorph that you need against deathrattle vs. Priest as mentioned above. Even DH has no answer for Priestress in Mirror Match. And what about all those untargetable Targets? Like the Priest Prime?
Also if they release more dormant cards this year it might become profitable to play it on your own minion, which will make it way more flexible. Maybe blizzard thought magtheridon was going to be op.
So it was overestimated but it's not bad, it's just not the right meta

If you are worried about deathrattles then why not just silence them? Why delay the inevitable? You will need to deal with the card when it awakens. Also, silences work very well against those "Can't be targeted by spells or Hero Power" minions. Silence them and follow with a removal. Or use indirect removal (Shadow Word: Ruin, Rotnest Drake, Deadly Shot and so on). Again, her best use is to find lethal by breaking a taunt or delaying a few turns for a top deck. DH benefits from her a lot because of that and because they have a hard time dealing with big minions. Every other class has better options.

Overhyped card. Works in few situations where you can finish your opponent but when you cant it really sucks.
Fight, maggot!
If you play it on priestess they just get another 6 shots off.

Missing lethal since June 2015.
Dumb ppl thats whats happened.

I hit legend last month with tempo rogue .. the list includes maiev and turns out working super well
Works well against decks with problematic taunts i.e. ress priest or big druid. I'n April I hit Legend with DH having Maiev Shadowsong on top of Kayn Sunfury to have better chances against those decks
According to HSreplay, maiev is in 6.2% of decks (comparable to doomsayer) and has an average deck winrate of 53.7% (comparable to Siamat)
So while its not amazing, it's not bad by any stretch.

Well I use Maiev in multiple decks, and I have won because of that card too often to not play it.
Silver Hand Recruit

Maiev is a pretty good card but most classes also have removal around that cost on their own.
It was pretty clear that the card would have a lot of competition.
if the maiev would also silence the cards that used on it would be used more.

I guess it will be better in a slower meta.

The card is a substitute for silence, whenever meta demands such a card it will change; otherwise, it won't see any play.
As of now, there's no need to run silence, so it's unlikely it will be seen in any deck anytime soon.
