Hey! We are planning something soon, but here I will shed light on what we are looking at.
With the Year of the Phoenix and Demon Hunter especially, we want to make sure we are active with our approach to balance. There will be additional changes coming shortly that is focused on Demon Hunter, Standard, Wild, and Arena.
For Demon Hunter, we are still monitoring the data as it comes in but expect 1 or 2 cards to see a change. We are thrilled by how players have responded to Demon Hunter, but we want the class to be in a healthy state for years to come. Will be adjusting as we see fit in order to get it into a great spot.
For other standard cards, we are looking at a number of cards including Sacrificial Pact, Bad Luck Albatross, Frenzied Felwing, and Kael'Thas. Some of these cards present some raw power that is just a little too high (Bad Luck Albatross, Frenzied Felwing), while a card like Kael'Thas can create some crazy swing turns but that's usually only fun for one player. Kael'Thas is a super interesting card though so we don't want to kill off his combo potential entirely.
When it comes to Sac Pac, we don't believe it is fun if it plays such a large role in the metagame. That says a lot about where the meta is and your ability to play certain cards. Also, it would be awesome to see more Jaraxxus!
For Wild, we know there has been a lot of very strong reactions to Quest Mage and Darkest Hour Warlock. These decks play in a one-player fashion similar to other decks we've nerfed in the past. There's going to be crazy combos in Wild, but we don't think these two decks in particular are healthy. Expect to see changes to Open the Waygate and Bloodbloom.
Finally for Arena, we are looking to do a full microadjust patch alongside these changes or shortly after. DH is still a little too strong here and we want to bring up the other classes to close this gap.
Brilliant, thank you. I admit I was stunned they released DH with the power it did have but I am equally amazed with the speed they are prepared to make changes. I love a frequently evolving hearthstone, the previous team would take an age to make changes which were sorely needed.
Cards focused on seem good although I am worried about albatross, it is pure paladin which needs to be saved, not highlander (which needs a time limited counter), if they are going to make it 2 different albatross I fear that will not put the help where it is needed.
I guess the attack is too high on bad luck albatross? Either way I hope the deathrattle isn't effected as I have run 1 of them in almost every deck I make in wild since it's the only real tool we have to combat Reno decks.

Yes, was the wrong quote. Sorry, it was in a post a bit further down.
Fixed.
Thanks for fixing.
I don't understand why Albatross is on the list.
Cause they didn't realize that Albatross countered not just one, but three (four?) archetypes. I feel like it was originally put in play to stall highlander plays and punish greedy aggro decks. I have no idea HOW they didn't see this one coming but it also strait up kills pure class decks (only paladin so far, i think) and pure spell decks (druid and mage, both of which are tier 1). I mean, maybe they did see it coming but they slept on how powerful the more tuned spell-only decks were? Which is weird cause then Albatross *shouldn't* be nerfed cause it helps counter them, but if we're basing it on "how it feels to play against" I understand it. I do feel like that one may be a little quick on the trigger considering both the druid and mage variants are going to be becoming more and more dominant.
I don't mind any buffs and nerfs as long as playing against DH will stop giving the impression of heroic boss fight from Naxx... If they nerf the rest and leave him be, game will be beyond unplayable.
Sooo, knowing Blizzard they'll probably slap an extra 1/2 mana cost to all those cards and just call it a day. Although I'm sure they'll make Sac Pact only target friendly minions as it's clearly the initial design and intent of that card - even them can't fuck that that up.
So Albatross will cost 4 (which makes sense tbh), Frenzied will probably start at 5 (rip Tempo DH), and I won't be surprised if Kael'Thas gets bumped to even 8.
DH will move back to midrange-ish decks and big demons now that Sac Pact isn't around, maybe some control variant will arise? Frenzied is too important for tempo/aggro and RIP combo with the Kael'Thas nerf.
Spell Druids will be less insane, but still pretty strong imho. Priest won't care because even if he run Albatrosses, they're not exactly central to his strategy. Kinda worried about that :/
And why nerf Bloodbloom instead of Darkest hour? Bloodbloom it was never a toxic card since they printed darkest hour.
Maybe because it limits future design space? I mean they cant really ever print a high cost minion summoning warlock spell because of bloodbloom although it is wild so i dont know if thats the reason

Thanks for posting this... I didn’t expect them to address quest mage...
also bad luck Albatross too? I have to give it to team 5, they are much quicker in changing things up than the other hearthstone team.
Bring it, I need dust! :-)
A nerf to Open the Waygate would make me very happy. I don’t dislike combo decks, but repeatedly dying to 4 giants on turn 6 is not fun.
Thanks for fixing.

And no nerf to Plague of Flames ?!

Curious about the possible nerf to darkest hour since I have 4 regular and 1 golden. But I'm afraid they might touch other cards, such blood bloom
Mecha'thun Warlock is a prevalent deck in wild that requires Bloodbloom, as well.
If they are really going to nerf Sacrificial Pact, better they nerf at least two Demon Hunter cards and not just one.

That's exactly why I said what I said. -.-

It's the accelerator of the deck. And you won't kill the deck when you just nerf this card. It's just way less oppressive.
Same goes for Open the Waygate. I think they bumb up the cards you need to play to something like 8. That is a big deal.
Always expect the unexpectable!
