I am a F2Player that started playing since gadgetzan but my account got hacked, so I started a new account on witchwood. I primarily play wild because there's way much more fun synergies there, at a cost of less diverse meta. Every time I tried to climb the ladder, I kept on fighting against the same deck over and over again (Big priest, odd paladin, even shaman, you name it). And pretty much all of them are frustrating to play against.
My temper management is already terrible enough, now I have a college to attend to. I'm starting to notice that playing hearthstone competitively has done nothing good on me. All it did is make my depression worse.
So I decided to quit playing rank altogether. And I still haven't regretted that decision. Now I'm queueing up against decks like reno shudder shaman, boom zooka hunter, And many other wonderful memes. I still occasionally fight against competitive decks, but I just immediately concede when that happens since I have nothing to lose.
I'm curious if anyone else has the same experience as I, mind to share some of yours if you have any?
I ladder a little, but mostly play non-ranked. I've also been playing a lot more Wild. I find playing much more enjoyable now, but to each is his/her own.
Honestly I have no idea how did you get hacked... I'm sorry for you.
If i lost my account I would quit hearthstone completely... As for now, I have no reason to quit playing ranked. Playing casual is only for quests to me. I might be alone with this, but to me Casual is not fun, I have no motivation to win... I like to see my progress, and not just play pointlessly.
If i get triggered on ladder, I usually play Solo mods, they help me to calm down. I actually completed All Solo Adventures on Heroic recently, and it was so much fun :D
Well I can't stop playing ranked if I never started to begin with. I've been playing since the launch of the game and have never once tried to climb ladder to legend. Seems like a boring repetitive grind playing with and against the same broken decks game after game. Creative deck building, not caring at all about win-rate, exclusively in casual mode is where all the fun is at for me. Pretty sure winning in a videogame is more of a life accomplishment for all the un-athletic people who were never able to make the school sports team growing up in order to experience what real winning in a real competitive event feels like.
I quitted just because i dont like it. Although everyone has different tastes for their gameplay everyday. You will get mostly mixed of answers.
My reason is because appearance of same decks all over again, while it also applies to casual games too, I find it much better for me to play casual games, you shouldnt worry about casual as you can find competitve players if your winstreak is going well. I think Im a homebrew player too as I always try decks without netdecking.
I’ve quit ranked until the rotations/new expansion. It’s pretty much unplayable for me. Too many matchups where you’re dead by turn 5/6. At least with unranked I can just concede if I queue into odd aggro or zoo.
I've been playing since Goblins vs. Gnomes and learned to not play rank almost immediately. When I tried to rank, this went from a fun game / hobby / diversion to a plague on my time and mood.
I imagine those playing ladder are a combination of a) those who thrive on that sort of thing, and b) those who have not yet reached your conclusion and are in some form of addiction.
So good for you, I've found plenty to like between Arena, Brawl, Casual, and solo to keep me happy for an average of a half hour to an hour per day, for many years now.
Wild only player here too. My monthly goal is just getting rank 5 for the golden epic. Then it’s just relaxed fun, be it ranked or casual, whatever I feel like doing at the time.
Getting Legend once was enough accomplishment for me. Not stressing any bit more with this game. I suggest the same to everyone for mental health preservation.
You enjoy playing against reno shudderwock? Are you a God ?
Anyway, I haven't quit ranked mode, because I like to test my decks against the meta, and I like playing against serious opponents. Sometimes in casual people including myself, don't play seriously, rope a lot, concede easily, make bad plays for fun (BM) over efficiency, it's not a very smooth experience.
But I stopped caring about my ranks years ago. I usually play 50ish games each month, it's not enough to reach rank 5 anyway so I stopped caring about the monthly rewards as well
Rank to 10 real quick then only meme in casual. Unfortunately trashbags play tier 1 in casual a LOT as well which makes me feel like I'm the only one that plays my own decks and tests original strats and mechanics
I play ranked, but only around ranks 19-24 (or 19-20 in regions where I've gone over 15 in the past). I like decks that have more RNG and aren't top-tier, and there's little point in playing those in ranked 'cause even bad players will beat them. Like you, I've found more variety in Casual, so I prefer that. And I've been playing more in Wild than Standard, because there's even more variety there. Plus, there are more supporting cards in Wild for things like Burglary Rogue and Dragon Paladin, not to mention Yogg and Renounce Darkness.
Edit - In addition to playing casual or staying in low ranks to have more fun, I highly recommend auto-conceding against decks you don't like playing against or have a lousy winrate against. It saves time overall, and has helped me enjoy my time a LOT more. Squelching helps too.

No.

have you set up a 2-step verification on your account now so that you don't get hacked again

I don't really care about the hacking thing anymore, I'm doing okay right now.

I like elementals and totems.

Fun > Meta

I only play to rank 5 most months and then it's all casual (or dumpster ranks of wild).

Join me at Out of Cards!
I only play to Rank 20 and then I stop lol
Yeah agree. Facing the same decks over and over again sounds so challenging
